I just love my little Nativity - I got it many, many years ago (1986) so it is 31 years old but it has held up very nicely. It is from Avon and called Heavenly Blessings. This is not my photo but I have all these pieces. Show off your Nativity set and if it has a story, please share.

(Click to enlarge) It's now missing a cow...It sits on a table/niche in our entry way. DH was playing ball with the pup from his office that sits catty corner from the table. Enough said. The remaining cow now sits to the left of the shepard, so the only thing on the table is Mary, Joseph and Jesus.

After my grandmother passed away (I was a teen) I got her beautiful nativity set. It was beautiful, had gold accents, the stable had a blue light. I remember being fascinated with it when I was a child.
My dad married a questionable woman that he met on a Friday night and came home on Sunday married to her. Needless to say that was an epic bad decision. Turns out she was a raging alcoholic and when my dad had enough of her crap she moved out. What I didn't know was she stole the nativity set. I didn't realize it until Christmas time and by then she was long gone. It still pisses me off to this day.

I have one that I painted in ceramics. I don't know if I ever finished all the pieces but I did display at least part of it in the past. I don't really have a place for it now. I should work on that.

The Birdhouse Lady - how awful. It sounds so beautiful and seems to have been so treasured by you. I'm sorry she stole it.

I need to get mine out and feel awful that I haven’t yet.
My mom had one for years with a stable my grandpa had made. Somehow she left it, and many other sentimental things, behind when she left her husband. Makes me so sad and mad when I think about it.
Sometimes I look on eBay hoping to find it, but I know that’s never going to happen.

Here are our two nativities. One is traditional and the other is fun. We are a Peanuts loving family so we just had to have the one from the Charlie Brown Christmas movie.

This isn't the best picture, but I have the Willow Tree nativity. Every year, I add to it. This year I'm either going to get the Bagpipe player or the shepherd with stable animals. Attachments:

I love the Willow Tree pieces. Adding a piece a year is a great idea. I have this one from Lilian Vernon: One of these years, I'd like to get my hands on the one we had when I was a child. I added animals to it from my farm and zoo animal sets - so we had a zebra, elephant, chickens, lions and a tiger getting in the action! My mother, while very controlling about some things, didn't seem bothered about that at all!

There are some beautiful and cute nativities here. I love Peanuts too, that is adorable.
My sister loves Willow Tree and has several pieced but not the nativity - I have thought of getting a piece for her each year....hmm, maybe I will start a tradition by doing that.

I've been collecting nativities for several years. It all started with a trip to the Dallas Arboretum where they had 2 huge buildings full of them on display. I have 22 but only have 20 out this year. Most of them I display in a bookcase. They are not expensive or large, but mostly gifts and some I have bought on ebay. These are some old pictures.

I have that set, too. I really love it -- I have the three stars in a stand instead of the stable. I have a few more small angels that I've added. It sits in a plant cage in my front hallway. The kids love to add lights and greenery to it, and hang the angels off the side of the cage. Sometimes we have the giant cat added to the set (the one in my avatar likes to sit in the middle of it.) It has very happy memories for me.

We got a Fontanini set as a wedding gift. It was a rather extensive set. It was pretty and the stable had moss on it. Our first Christmas, I put it out. Let the cockatiel out one night and he was flying around and then I couldn't find him. He usually answered when called. I finally found him perched on the roof. He had thrown the angel off and was eating the moss!
I recently sold that set. I'd like to get just Mary, Joseph and Jesus from Willow Tree someday.

I have a traditional nativity I got as a Christmas present when I was 16. Last January I bought one carved out a olive wood when I was in Bethlehem. Instead of a wooden stable, the figures are set in a cave

I haven't put out a nativity in years but I got this old one out this year. It has one of those vintage electrical cords that scare me to death and the vintage plastic (celluloid?) gets hot to the touch from the bulb. After being packed away for years it still lit right up.

I have the Willow Tree Nativity with many pieces, and I keep it out all year long on my piano. I also have a ceramic one that takes up a long table. Joseph is at least 12” tall. Each piece is huge. I don’t have any photos but I do have a photo of my outdoor nativity that I love.

Our regular nativity is a Fontanini set that I've had since DD was very young. I'll still occasionally add to the set if I find something interesting. I also have a few sets we've picked up when living overseas. The only one that is out so far is one from Kazakhstan. It is felted from camel's hair and really unique. Because they are handmade, they weren't easy to find so I felt lucky to come home with this one. It's one of my favorites. I plan to decorate this weekend so will post photos of a couple of other sets that I have then.

All your nativities are beautiful! I have a small Hummel one that I display year round. My grandson plays with a fisher-price one that we enjoy.
I just took a beautiful one to my local thrift store. My mom bought it from Titches back in the 1960’s when I was a kid. It was large, the stable probably measured 24 x 8 x 24. The figures were made of some kind of paper mache type material. May have been hand painted. It was beautiful! I really hated to let it go, but I haven’t had a place to display it for 20 years. My house is too small. I decided I’d rather someone with the room to display it was better than sitting in a box in my garage for 20 more years.

Here are mine. I bought a soft one for the kids and somewhere we lost Mary. My mom gave me the ceramic ones that she got from Mexico, and I bought the Hallmark one over time years ago.
