Has anyone had this happen? I rarely answer calls I don’t know the number, but when the same number keeps calling I answer to tell them to take me off the list.
Three times this year I have answered a robocall and clicked whatever number to talk to a person. As soon as I say take me off their list, the sexual comments start. This last two times it was a lot of “honey, what do you want, honey, you don’t really want that” said in a leering manner.
The first time, though, holy crap. I was so stunned that all I kept saying was take me off the list and let me speak to a manager. What came out of that guy’s mouth was so filthy, and I have a filthy mouth and inappropriate mouth.
Has anyone else received these type of calls, or once you say “take me off the list” do you hang up? (I normally do that, but for some reason that first time I didn’t.).

I block numbers that repeatedly call and don't leave a message. After hearing thins, now I'm glad I do!

I never pick up calls from numbers I don’t know, no matter how many times they call. Sorry that happened to you.

I never ever answer those calls. Occasionally my husband will pick up to tell them not to call and then they start calling every half hour. If I never ever answer the calls they almost go away completely...until he answers one again. Grrr!

i remember before i had call display i said no, politely, to the offer. the guy started to get testy and said "you have already offered and i have already declined, thank you" and he UNLOADED ON ME. started screaming " YOU DON'T HAVE 5 F'ING MINUTES TO SIGN UP FOR SOMETHING THAT IS A FREE TRIAL...." and it went on. i think dude was not suited to telemarketing and my call was his breaking (or breakdown!) point. i hung up, called the newspaper that was making the offer and they gave me the name of the company telesales was outsourced to. ya, i gave em a call. there were very apologetic. i used to be a recruiter and the *worst* jobs to hire for were telemarketing. i only would hire people that were seasoned experienced telemarketers so i knew they knew the score. time spent arguing (or making inappropriate comments) is time not dialling someone that actually wants to sign up and those jobs are all commission based.

I have told callers dozens of times to take me off the list.
It didn't matter.
I am on the Do Not Call list, and have even taken my time to file complaints.
It did not matter.
The only thing that finally helped was not picking up. When it went to voicemail, I'd block the number in my phone. It seems talking to actual people was counter-productive as I believe they'd then sell my number as a "good" number. So calls multiplied exponentially.
So don't waste your time getting on the Do Not Call list, filing a complaint, or asking them to remove you from the list. Not answering and blocking is the best. Good luck.

I utilize the block feature. It's a wonderful thing! They usually have a long list of numbers they use for the same scheme. Blocking only works for that particular line. I block away and they keep calling on another number.

I have been told several times that there is not a real Do Not Call list anymore. Only a business can decide if they don't want to call you back.

I only have a cell phone and if the same unknown number keeps calling and won't leave a message, I block the number. I don't bother with "do not call". I got rid of my landline because it was nothing but telemarketers night and day. Actually, I think I have one bundled into the internet/cable, but there is no phone plugged into it. I'm kind of bored. I'd probably welcome a dirty telemarketer call right now.

As soon as you tell them to take you off the list to them it's a good number and you will be bombarded with calls. We never answer a number we don't know.

Nothing surprises me anymore with people.
It’s been awhile, I might welcome it right now. Did you happen to get the number?
Sorry, was that inappropriate???

I had to keep my home number because my cell service doesn't work most of the time in my little apartment. If there were to be an emergency, I can't count on my cell phone to work to call 911.
But for the most part, the ringer is off and I don't answer it. I sometimes use it to call my mom but beyond that, I ignore it. If I am feeling particularly curious, I can see who called by checking the list that is provided on the tv...and if a number shows up a lot I google it to see what scammer is on point that week.
***But...I am not sure I would be offended by 'honey.' I live in south and everyone is honey, sugar, darlin' ... I have clients that honey and darlin' me on the phone every time I talk to them and it is just who they are and mean nothing at all by it.

Saw something on a news channel that advised 1. get caller ID 2. do not answer any call you don't recognize - robocalls rarely leave messages, so if they don't leave a message, you know that's a number you should consider blocking 3. If you are on the do not call registry list, and you do happen to talk to someone who is making such a call - especially with crude behavior, please report it on the donotcall website. 4. The one thing they strongly say, is never to talk to someone on the other end. It just confirms to them they have a person on the end who might listen to their sales/scam. The new scams also record your voice to get you saying "yes" so that they can say you authorized charges. So never talk. Hang up with no words. Always.
Be safe!

Had the first call been the “honey” call, I wouldn’t have cared. But after the inappropriate call, I knew where the “honey” was leading. It wasn’t innocent, it wasn’t “bless your heart”, he was ramping up.

My state was the first to start suing these businesses. My state AG has a list. I then go to its site and complete the complaint form. When they get enough complaints, they sue.
