Anyone want to do a check in?
I started my journey back in June when we were discussing The Obesity Code. I do low carb/lazy Keto and fast between 16 and 18 hours daily with a longer fast once per week. So far I’ve lost 60 pounds. I still have more to lose, but I’m in such a better place than I was. My app says I could reach my goal weight by this June. I used to feel overwhelmed by the amount I had to lose, but I’ve finally learned to just keep going. This time a small slip up hasn’t done me in like it has in the past.
I think one of the hardest things I’ve had to learn on this journey is how to say no! I’m a teacher, so kids and colleagues bring me “treats” all the time. I’ve had to learn to say no thank you gracefully because I just cannot have them around me. I still accept treats from kids if they brought it specifically for me, but often they have left overs from class projects that I can turn down gracefully. As women it’s often hard to say no, but learning to say no is such an important part of the journey!

Great! Job!
I have been doing IF since September. I have lost 4 lbs. 4 times. I have had two major changes in medication that have complicated my weight loss. It frustrating. I'm going to try going full Keto for March to see if I can actually jumpstart some movement.

Congratulations on your weight loss! That's such an admirable accomplishment.
I need to lose 15 lbs and I just haven't been motivated to do my usual low carb, high protein plan, so I have decided to change things up and do weight watchers. I love fruit, and it's unlimited on WW, so it makes things fun for me. I'm still adjusting, so I'll check in after a couple of weeks. I'm determined to be very good for one month and, if that works, I'll do another.

I've been doing low carb for a while now, and started going to the gym in October 2016. I switched to the 21 Day Fix containers in March last year. It did ok for a while but I found myself floundering.
After reading about it here, I read Obesity Code and began fasting 16:8 in August. Bam - things clicked and the weight began to move again. I lost another 20 pounds after starting IF. I did flounder over December/holidays/insane work schedule, but only gained back about 5 pounds. Diet was crap, but I kept up the IF part.
Got right back on the band wagon beginning in January. I'm on my way down the ladder again and have been back to my low carb ways and going to the gym at least 5 days a week.
I don't have a before after yet - but after next weekend I will! We are off to Dominican on the 23rd, and for the first time in probably 20 years, I will be wearing a 2 piece bathing suit. I feel good about the 3 I bought and how I look in them. A tad self conscious (it's a lot of skin lol) but after seeing so much flesh in suits that were way too small last year while in Cuba? I'm all good with how I look in them!
I have 10 pounds to reach my goal. It has been a very long time since I've seen these numbers!

Congratulations to you. Pat yourself on the back.
I need to lose 15 more and then will be satisfied with my weight. It is hard--and hard when DH is slim, never varies but 2 lbs. and eats sweets like a demon........

Good for you guys. I'd love to lose the weight I've regained in the past two years. I was down as far as my doctor wanted me to be, but I've put on about 20 pounds from there. Some is due to medicines, and some is because I like to eat. But I am really wanting to get back in my size 10 clothes. I had to rebuy 12's for the winter, and if I don't quit gaining, I'll be in 14's by summer! and I don't want that again!! I mainly drink more water when I try to lose, and cut down on portion size, and quit desserts. We are down to one dessert a week now. If I drink water before each meal, and watch portion size, I can USUALLY lose a couple of pounds a week. I've been sick and haven't had the motivation to try again since Christmas! I'll give it a try again. When I don't think I'm doing it by myself, sometimes it's easier.

I have a friend who has been successful on the 21 day fix. Do you think you could do it on IF? I'm not that familiar with it so I apologize if that is a stupid question.

I was SO SO SO good last year. I've been struggling this year. I have 20 lbs to go to get to my healthy weight and 30 to goal. I can't do it. I ate 12 cookies today. I have to write it because I am seriously ashamed. I was good for NINE months. Now I'm just tired of it all.

You look great! The battery in my scale died and I haven't replaced it. But I'm still doing IF-16:8 and low carb. My alcohol intake has been more lately because of going out- hard to resist. That is not helping these last 5-10 lbs to come off... Still working out almost everyday. I have been using a small resistance band for glutes and it has been burning my butt up!

I had already lost 60 lbs. prior to this year, but wanted to drop another 5-10 lbs. plus the four I gained over the holidays, putting me at about 135 lbs. I started IF the beginning of January and am now up to a 16:8 schedule. It really makes things so easy because I hate counting anything and with IF I only count hours. I’m so rarely hungry too. I try to stick to a pretty high protein/low carb and healthy diet during my eating hours, but can go off program occasionally when I want to and it hasn’t hurt me. I’ve lost eight pounds since January and broke into the 130s just this morning. I’ve been doing weight training and cardio every day so I can see I’ve already put in some more muscle and things are redistributing nicely. I’m feeling better about my body than I probably ever have .

I lost about 50 lbs last year through a combination of different eating plans...counting calories, low carb/IF. I gained a few over the holidays and joined Weight Watchers January 6. My employer is paying for it so I thought I’d give it a go. I’ve lost 8 pounds since my first weigh in with WW. I could do a lot better and I could exercise but I don’t. I’ve lost large amounts of weight twice before (100 lbs in 1987 and 120 lbs in 2009-2011). I need this time to be the last time. I can’t put myself through this again. I know in my head that the way I eat now has to be forever.
The top photo was NYE this year and the bottom was last year.

SabrinaP and KelleeM you both look amazing - well done! I'm still dithering. I need to lose about a stone (14lb) but can't decide how to tackle it/can't get started. I have a small appetite so portion size is not an issue. I am addicted to sugar so that IS an issue. I don't want 'a diet' because I won't stick to it so I want to find something I can adapt to longterm. I'm thinking low carb - but I don't eat masses of bread/pasta/rice anyway so the obvious carbs to drop are going to be cookies, chocolate, snacks - and I can't even get myself in the right frame of mind to start. Ugh!!

My weight has been slowly creeping up for years, and I’ve been yo-yo dieting forever. I have a huge appetite for sugar and carbs. DH is having a competition with two friends to lose 15% of their body weight. He’s lost 12lbs in a month which is impressive. But he’s not the one shopping for food or cooking for the family. If I could choose not to go into the kitchen and have my meals cooked for me it would be much easier to resist snacking. Last night I finally joined Slimming World (similar to WW). I was shocked when they weighed me. I need to lose 30lbs to get down to my ideal weight. SW has worked for me before - 18 years ago so I’m going to try again:)

This time a small slip up hasn’t done me in like it has in the past. I think that's a key statement. I ate 12 cookies today. I have to write it because I am seriously ashamed See above. My husband played cards last night. So left to my own devices, I ate three miniature Heath bars and drank a glass of Malbec for dinner. It happens.

I think so - many here who were doing IF are following Weight Watchers or whatever plan they were on before. I just find the low carb/keto way of eating very easy to do and very "do-able" for me long term. I do miss fresh bread and pasta sometimes, and I know once I reach my goal I will add those things back in once in a while. But the IF is here to stay!

I'm a WW gal (have been lifetime since 2001) and last August I added in IF in an effort to get to my perspective goal weight. Worked like a charm! I lost 5 pounds easily and have maintained my PGW since then. IF makes it easy and combined with just listening to my body and following the hunger scale, I pretty much eat what I want. Except fast food because it does not make me feel good

SabrinaP and KelleeM you both look amazing! Thank you so much for sharing your success stories. I'm at the beginning of what I believe will be a very long journey. And not for the first time. I started Weight Watchers (yet again) January 5, 2018. I'm at the end of 5 weeks. I'm a very slow loser. Veeery slow. I'm trying not to get discouraged, but it's hard when I follow Facebook groups with people posting how they are losing 7, 10, 14 lbs the first week. Many are losing 4-7 lbs every week. Ugh. I'm doing great if I lose 0.8 - 1 lbs a week. My doctor wanted me to lose 15 lbs in 3 months, but it's not going to happen. I'm kind of ambivalent about the new Weight Watchers Free Style program. I'm finding parts of it work for me and parts do not. My sister is doing a fasting-type diet where she only eats between 10 am and 6 pm and it's working great for her. As a diabetic, I'm not comfortable doing that unless I check with my doctor. I'm going to continue feeling my way around the WW plan and find what works for me. I signed up and prepaid for 3 months, so I'll re-evaluate and decide what to do then. Thanks for starting this thread. It helps to hear how others are handling this very difficult journey.

Good job! You look fabulous. I am down 22 pounds since December, and I am almost halfway to my goal. I have about 30 to go. I gave up sugar and started counting calories, plus I joined a step challenge at work. It has really motivated me to stay on track.

I've lost 12 lb since January 1st. I'd like to get to my goal by May, and my reward is buying new water skis for the lake! I told a friend of mine that if you see me with new water skis, you can congratulate me, but if I don't have them then don't ask because I'll be crabby!! :-)
I do have a question if y'all wouldn't mind answering one... How do you handle eating during the week of your period? Usually the two days before my period starts, I'm like a bottomless pit and craving food all day long. If I give in and just eat, I usually am up a pound or two, and then it takes another week to get that back off again. Any tips or tricks for keeping on track during that time? Thanks!

I was going to start my own thread, then I saw this one...
I've been doing IF for about 3 weeks and I initially lost 6 lbs, but am currently at -3... which is not impressing me... as I need to lose 20-35.
I eat lunch (salad: lettuce, cucumber and a tbsp amount of dressing, a handful nuts, a cheese stick and a hardboiled egg) at noon and then eat one serving of whatever we're having for dinner around 6 (I don't want to make special meals since I'm already making one for my family). I stopped snacking, drinking soda, eating a sandwich for lunch, my weekly bagel treat for going grocery shopping, and most sweet stuff.
I did not give up my coffee with a dribble of creamer, maybe I need to drop that...
Ugh, I hate my scale!

Thanks OP for the thread and you look great! I have been low carbing and I have lost my holiday weight. I don't dance with the scale as it's a wonky scale anyway. I know I have lost as my clothes are no longer tight. I go to the doctor in March so I'll have official weight loss numbers then.I'm really enjoying learning new recipes for carb favorites like pancakes.

Congrats Sabrina! You look fantastic!
I have lost 70 pounds since mid July. I gained about 8 pounds over the holidays and have lost that plus an additional 5 pounds in the last month. I have about 45 pounds or so to go to my goal weight. I started at 244 in mid-July and am now at 171.8. I am trying to get to 168.6 for my Saturday weigh-in, because I stared this round at 188.6, so that will give me a 20 pound weight loss for this challenge. (My gym does regular weight loss challenges.) That is going to be tough.
I turned 49 in December and have been overweight most of my life, so I am still in shock that I finally found the strength inside myself to lose the weight. I wish I had taken an official "before" photo when I started, but I don't think I really thought I would do it. I have an official weigh in at my gym on Saturday, so I will take a pic on Saturday and find one from last summer for comparison.
I do strength training 2-3 times a week and also IF. I eat high protein, low-carb, and low calorie. It has worked well, but I think I need to up my calories for a while to help with muscle gain and keep my metabolism in check. I am going to work on maintaining for a couple months and add back in some healthy carbs and fruit and eat just below maintenance for a while.

SabrinaP, you've done awesome! I'm doing WW because I know it works for me. Restless Spirit, I'm a SLOW loser too. I think in part it's because I don't have a lot to lose. I want to lose about 10-12 pounds. The cold and wet winter has made it a bit more difficult to get out and exercise. I find myself much more motivated on days I walk or go to my yoga class. One small step at a time! Good luck to all of us on Valentine's Day. I know our PTA is putting on a huge spread for us. I'll go into school with a list of what I'm eating (i.e. fruit and veggies). It hurts in the moment to turn down the sweets, but I feel so much better later if I stay strong.
