AP... “BREAKING: National Rifle Association files federal lawsuit over Florida legislation that raises the age to buy guns to 21.” They didn’t waste anytime. They are claiming it violates the 2nd amendment? The National Rifle Association has filed a federal lawsuit over gun control legislation Florida Gov. Rick Scott has signed, saying it violates the Second Amendment by raising the age to buy guns from 18 to 21.
The lawsuit came just hours after Gov. Scott, a Republican, signed the compromise bill Friday afternoon. Lawyers for the NRA want a federal judge to block the new age restriction from taking effect. The new legislation raises the minimum age to buy rifles from 18 to 21, extends a three-day waiting period for handgun purchases to include long guns and bans bump stocks that allow guns to mimic fully automatic fire. It also creates a so-called "guardian" program that enables teachers and other school employees to carry handguns. The new measures come in the wake of the Feb. 14 shooting rampage at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, that killed 17 people. www.businessinsider.com/nra-files-lawsuit-over-florida-gun-control-law-age-limit-2018-3Thanks for this goes to the WH and Congress. The majority of citizens have no problem with it, even NRA members. Reported membership of 5 million. How do they control us? We are more! Over 300million........

Manu Raju...
“A stone-faced Sam Nunberg leaves his grand jury testimony and refuses to answer questions, shakes his head when asked for comment. He escapes to a waiting white car, which zooms away”
I suspect it’s not a fun time to be in the hot seat at a Mueller Grand Jury.

White House scolds Cabinet officials after embarrassing ethics reportsBy Cristina Alesci, CNN Updated 9:22 PM ET, Fri March 9, 2018 (CNN)The White House held private meetings with four Cabinet-level officials last month to scold them for embarrassing stories about questionable ethical behavior at their respective agencies, sources familiar with the sessions tell CNN. Internal watchdogs have launched at least nine audits, reviews or investigations across several Cabinet agencies, and stories about first-class travel, expensive office furniture, and internal strife have become commonplace. Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke, Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson, Veterans Affairs Secretary David Shulkin and Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt all met with officials from the White House counsel's office and the Cabinet liaison. The meetings, held at chief of staff John Kelly's request, were intended to provide "a clear message that optics matter," the sources said. The White House gave the agencies a set of guidelines in a document titled "creating a culture of compliance," according to portions of the document obtained by CNN. Among the highlighted advice: • "You are the best guardian of your reputation. Your recordkeeping practices must be designed with a purpose to prove innocence at the complaint phase or with the press." • "Even if legal, does not mean you should do it -- always consider optics." • "Optics questions: Does the event or travel further the President's priorities, your department or agency's mission; or, does it appear recreational or entertainment in nature." • "Remember, an ethics opinion matters only if the ethics officer received all of the information." The White House declined to comment. More at link: www.cnn.com/2018/03/09/politics/cabinet-secretaries-ethical-behavior/index.htmlI guess the WH is feeling some heat, but only 4 were called in.

A positive article about my district, TX-07, and its changing demographics and political alliances. We hope to be part of the blue wave this fall! Chronicle LinkWhat's funny to me is that if you look at the district map, it's obviously gerrymandered to be a Republican stronghold. Guess that came back to bite them in the butt as Trump has turned college educated women against Republicans, and more immigrants and minorities graduate from college and move into the middle class neighborhoods.

linkChris LU... “Hollowing out of State Dept will be one of Trump’s most damaging legacies. Ambassador to Panama resigns in disgust, saying U.S. has “walked off the field. Not only are we walking off the field, we’re taking the ball and we’re throwing up a middle finger” From the Washington Post... “Feeley, 56, flew home from Panama on Friday, capping almost three decades as a diplomat under Republican and Democratic administrations. In the past year, he said, he realized he was working for a president whose policies and tone he could no longer promote or even explain.” Only an idiot doesn’t understand the important roll our diplomatic core plays in keeping our country safe. Unfortunately an idiot sits in the Oval Office.

To be clear, I think they should leave her out of it - she isn't the one accused of betrayal and lying.
But the media should also be flogging itself for its treatment of HRC who was mercilessly dogged by the media over Bill's affairs.
The media may be learning, but they should also be acknowledging their many past transgressions.

Maybe it's due to the current movements. Here's to progress!

Surely his lawyers were able to talk him out of that clause given his history? Of course, this assumes he'd listen to them. Man thinks he's untouchable.

Fortunately, every elecection his margin for winning grows smaller and smaller. Fortunately I can say I haven't and most in my state haven't. Most of the House republicans here (a few will loose their seats) are fairly reasonable with only one true 150% dt follower and he is hurting the country not just NJ.. Both Dem Senators, Booker and Menendez, although he has had his own problems. Only an idiot doesn’t understand the important roll our diplomatic core plays in keeping our country safe. Unfortunately an idiot sits in the Oval Office. Unfortunately he talent will be gone when it is time to rebuild the State system.

As far as I know Melania hasn’t said anything about Stormy to the press.

I'm don't remember with Hillary, but we see it all the time with other women who have not had negative interactions with the press. I'd like to believe it's a sign of things to come, but I'm not holding my breath.

"A pastor closely linked to Donald Trump said he’s against sex with adult film stars but isn’t holding the alleged affair with Stormy Daniels against the president. “Evangelicals still believe in the commandment: Thou shalt not have sex with a porn star,” Robert Jeffress told Fox News on Thursday. “ However, whether this president violated that commandment or not is totally irrelevant to our support of him.”" www.newsweek.com/pro-trump-pastor-says-thou-shall-not-have-sex-porn-star-totally-irrelevant-838017And there you have it. The final capitulation that for the evangelicals it's never been about "character" or "personal responsibility" - it's about "what can you do for me?" and valuing pre-nervous-system fetuses over real live children with minds and memories.

I thought her spokeswoman released a statement earlier when the press was speculating about her not going to Switzerland with POTUS around their anniversary? Here's what I found. Ms Grisham tweeted: “BREAKING: The laundry list of salacious & flat-out false reporting about Mrs Trump by tabloid publications & TV shows has seeped into ‘main stream media’ reporting. “She is focused on her family & role as FLOTUS – not the unrealistic scenarios being peddled daily by the fake news.” Sort of a backhand statement that Stormy is a liar.

I have long advocated for the full implementation of the 1986 Immigration Reform. But we, as a country, chose not to and we have a mess that needs to be fixed. There is the right way and the wrong way. Doing shit like this is very definitely not the right way.

linkFrom Mother Jones... “Trump Spoke to a Russian Activist About Ending Sanctions—Just Weeks After Launching His Campaign” From the article... “While researching the strange story of two Russian gun aficionados who cultivated Donald Trump’s presidential campaign via the National Rifle Association, we came across a little-noticed but noteworthy episode concerning Trump and US sanctions against Russia. Sanctions have been a source of extraordinary conflict between the president and Congress and a matter of clear significance to special counsel Robert Mueller’s ongoing investigation.” Just a month after Trump announced his campaign for the White House, he spoke directly to Maria Butina, the protégé of the powerful Russian banking official and Putin ally Alexander Torshin. During a public question and answer session at FreedomFest, a libertarian convention in Las Vegas in July 2015, Butina asked Trump what he would do as president about “damaging” US sanctions. Trump suggested he would get rid of them. “I am visiting from Russia,” Butina said into the mic. “Ahhhhh, Putin!” Trump interjected, prompting laughter from the audience as he added a mocking riff about the current president: “Good friend of Obama, Putin. He likes Obama a lot. Go ahead.” “My question will be about foreign politics,” Butina continued. “If you will be elected as president, what will be your foreign politics especially in the relationships with my country? And do you want to continue the politics of sanctions that are damaging of both economy [sic]? Or you have any other ideas?” After going off on Obama and digressing into trade policy, Trump responded: “I know Putin, and I’ll tell you what, we get along with Putin… I believe I would get along very nicely with Putin, OK? And I mean, where we have the strength. I don’t think you’d need the sanctions. I think we would get along very, very well.”
Trump did not appear to know who Butina was. But Torshin claims to have met Trump three months prior and had a “jovial exchange” with him at the NRA annual convention in Nashville. Here’s a video of the exchange between Trump and Butina, which was posted at the time by a group calling itself LetsTalkNevada:” The bolded part is, IMO, is very telling.

Newsweek...
“REX TILLERSON IS FEELING SICK AFTER WORKING ON NORTH KOREA, CANCELS SCHEDULED EVENTS IN KENYA”
“The secretary is not feeling well after a long couple days working on major issues back home such as North Korea and has canceled his events for the day," under-secretary of state for public diplomacy and public affairs Steve Goldstein told reporters, quoted in Reuters.”
The above prompted the following tweet by Holly Figueroa O’Reilly...
“When Hillary was SoS, she visited 112 countries, flew 956,733 miles circling the globe 38 times, and spent 401 days on the road.
She even went to the 9/11 memorial with pneumonia and was maligned by Fox and Trump for it.
#SaturdayMorning #AMJoy”
I believe this is the second time since Tillerson became SoS he has cancelled events. I wonder if he does it because he doesn’t want to be bothered and claims fatigue or illness.
