I never really knew much about the Selphy before but I was watching HSN and they did a demo. My first thought was, “Wow, this would work for me.” I have a bunch of pictures on my phone and I’ve procrastinated getting them printed. And my regular printer eats ink like it’s free. The Selphy looks so easy to use. I checked into it and there’s a newer model than the one HSN has—the 1300. With this one you can choose different sized prints. I realize it’s a little more permprimt than using Shutterfly but it might be worth it. What do the Peas think?

If I had it to do over again, I would go with the Picturemate.

Not sure about the newest model (mine was probably 3-4 years ago), but I was not a fan. Long story short the color was off (Patter had a great thread showing this comparison) and I couldn't get past the print size being small as a pocket scrapper. Once it started getting glitchy with computer, I gave it away. I bought an Epson PM-400 and it was so much better for my needs. I have been having an issue with my wireless printing and still love it enough to deal with it. No regrets on that purchase.
eta- but whichever printer you end up with, I think being able to print easily at home & on demand is life changing 😉

I have a picture mate and a selphy. I never use my selphy because of photo quality and the way you have to have perforated edges on your photos.

This is a newer model of the Selphy so it might be better but maybe not. Does the PM give you an option for pictures smaller than 4x6?

I love my picture mate! I have the Charm version. Only prints 4x6. The quality is excellent. I also have a Selphy. I'm using it for a project for DD so I'm not to concerned about the quality. When I finish up the last box, it's going bye bye. When I'm ready to upgrade from my Charm I'm getting the newer model so I can also print 5x7.

I had a Selphy and hated it! Quality of the prints was terrible and the fact that the prints aren’t true 4x6 drove me bananas! Plus you’re stuck having to use only the Selphy’s special paper and I’m not a huge fan of glossy prints. I hardly ever used it and sold it so I could buy a PictureMate. I’ve never looked back! It prints true 4x6 photo and you can print up to 5x7 with whatever photo paper you want! You can print custom sizes but I do this using PSE. I know Patter just posted a thread about an app that lets you print different sizes so you might want to look at that. At the end of the day, after having the PictureMate, I would never buy another Selphy. Heck I wouldn’t even take one if it were free!

I had no problem with the quality of my pictures, but if you do PL, you might care that the prints aren’t true 4x6. If you just scrap regular layouts or in your TN it’s not a big deal at all.
I don’t use my Selphy anymore — I just use my big Pixma. But if I were to go on a trip where I had time to scrap, I might bring my Selphy and Instax printers along.

I know I'm the outlier here, but I love my Selphy w/a white hot passion. Have loved it for the past 3 years. It has changed the way I scrap. I can get good color out of it - maybe I've just learned how to tune my photos to get the look I like. I love brining it to crops. I would buy it again in a heartbeat but the thing is still going strong.

I have a Selphy 900 sitting untouched in my scrapbook room with two packs of paper/ink. If you'd like it, let me know. I upgraded to the Epson Picturemate and really love the quality of the prints. I've printed over 300 photos since Christmas!

I may be in the minority, I have a selphy and love it. The picture quality is great. Mine is about 4 years old. I love to use it when I am at a crop. I have not had any issues with it. If it dies I would probably look at something that would print 5x7s also, but so far mine has been a work horse. I really like the way it doesn't have ink but lays down layers the photos are like water proof - no smudging.

I like my Selphy too. I don’t use it for everything because of the cost per print, but it’s great to use for times when DD needs a photo for something at school or for me to take to crops. I’ve learned how to tweak my photos to get the color I want. I like that it’s portable and fits in a large camera case, and I also like that it’s a dye sub printer so I never have to worry about print heads getting clogged with dried up ink because I haven’t used it for six months.

I also have one and like it. I do PL and with the Pic Frame app, can print easily and quickly at home. The prints may not be professional quality, but most of the time, they are fine for my pocket pages.

I loved my Selphy. I had an older model and the pictures looked good to me. It quit working (after I had it for more than 7 years) and I haven't replaced it yet. I know the picturemate is popular but I don't have that kind of $$ to spend for what little I print so I'll be buying another Selphy someday.

My friend went and bought a Selphy instead of the Epson because she saw it in a big box store and well.....she hates it. I recommended the Epson and she didn't listen so oh well lol.

Though I've had a couple of issues with my PM (which have been resolved but admittedly with almost zero help from Epson CS) I truly love it and use it several times a week! I'd never give it up. Like Patter I print any and every size smaller than 4x6" up to 5x7". I throw my photos in the PL app and print them from there.

I love my Selphy. When my older one that I had for several years started having problems, I got a newer model. Love it. So nice and simple. No ink to mess with. Stays nice and compac on my desk. Prints great pictures. Can’t recommend it highly enough.
