It might be my buying habits (buy like crazy when I'm in scrap mode, then go for months without scrapping or buying anything) but no matter how much I scrap I never seem to make a dent or finish off packages anything... I just purged at least an inch of paper, but then there was a sale somewhere... At least my addiction is paper and not shoes or something expensive

i was just thinking about this yesterday actually. i’ve been (for me) a scrapping maniac since february but you’d never know it!
i’m on a spending freeze right now due to an upcoming vacation and i already can’t wait to go to tuesday morning when i get back. it’s definitely a sickness!

Ah, I feel like it had been a while since we'd had one of these threads on here. And it's a valid discussion to have and keep having! So. Much. Stuff. I'm definitely trying to work my small stash down right now. I'm done collecting. I'm not on a freeze but if I buy anything, it needs to get used so at least half of it is gone in the next three to four months. I got a 6x8 paper pad recently and I just started cutting most of the pages up for a mini album as soon as I opened the parcel. That's the only way I'm managing to keep the beast in check.

I am constantly using my stuff--old and new. But I am also constantly acquiring new supplies.
I could probably scrap for ten years and never have to buy anything but glue, albums, and page protectors. But what fun is there in THAT???

Yep, I am constantly adding to my stash in excess of what I use. I can't help wanting new items! I am organizing right now and almost feel like throwing the unorganized pile into a box, using what is available and then adding in the pile as I go.

There are themes I am running out of so that I am now using scraps. Themes like brother and graduation I have tried to use up my stash. I always try to hold a bit back in case I get asked to make mini album or something.
Christmas I think I'm good for awhile. I am in no danger of my stash being noticeably smaller, but I scrap so much that I do use up a whole lot.
With my living history pictures I get down to where I've used most of what I've saved and it makes it hard to scrap those last layouts because I've used up all the 'perfect' stuff and I have to make due.

Mainly adhesive. I'm always low because it's boring to buy.

No. But I am hoping that changes this year. I have cut way back on what I buy. December Daily will be the big test for me because I will cave.

I just purged a bunch of paper. Again. I’ve found that if I buy a pad or collection I’ll use the papers I like and after I’ve gone through about 2/3 I’m tired of it and will never use the rest. So of course I bought some new stuff and I am really going to try to make a dent in my stash this week since I’m off work on a staycation.

Kind of. I’ve been working on purging and being honest with myself about it all. The main thing I tell myself is I can’t outgrow the system I have in place for storage. Or I have to have a very specific thing in mind to buy new.
I do allow myself to buy at events though. But it’s a stash build-up situation. These are rare (every 1 to 2 years!). There just happened to be one this weekend. But prices were amazing, and I won’t need to buy now for a long time. I’m excited to work on projects and kits I bought. I need to look at it all now, and make lists of what I was thinking when I bought it. Lists...they’re my thing, and keep me on track!!!

I've barely bought anything for about six months now, and yes, there's definitely a dent in my stash.
I also haven't been scrapping as much as i used to, but still here and there.
I think the next purchase will have to be page protectors.

...ahhh... thanks for the laugh!
honestly, no. I think 'collecting' and actually 'using' my stash are two separate-but-related hobbies, actually. And for the most part, I'm okay with that. (as long as I never actually add up the $$$)

I don't seem to make a dent because when I get low on certain things I stock back up because of my fear they will discontinue making them. But it's all fun and games until you run out of space which is happening to me. So I am really going to try to be very choosy about any new things I add because my stash runneth over.

I do go through bottles of Nuvo Crystal Drops and throw them away. Honestly!
But otherwise, I don't make a dent. I am scrapping the alphabet at the moment and I'm pulling out old collections (which I store together) to use and when I put the bags away after, there's not a dent in it.
I am in a unique position at the moment. I will be moving from the UK back home to NZ at some stage (we won't move the cat so we're waiting for him to go first - he's 15) so I have actually been adding to my stash ready to move. Cause I have been scrapping from my old collections in Feb and again this month, I have realised that if I really love a collection (like I loved Notes & Things and a few Basic Grey collections), I need to stock up while it's available. So Good Vibes by Crate Paper, I bought hoards of it! I love that collection and now I can scrap from it forever! So the next one that comes along that I love, I will buy loads for the future. I know there's not a lot of shopping available in NZ... maybe I'll open a LSS!

Nope not really. I am more careful about things I buy, less because of stash, more because I am more selective about what I want...

Nope I never seem to make a dent, but I am careful in what I do buy and I refuse to let my stash outgrow my space so that's something right?

My paper stash is starting to get lean but I am set for life on pretty much everything else especially letter stickers/thickers. I keep challenging myself to use certain things like buttons, wood veneer and enamel dots. I am thisclose to tossing all the little chipboard and die cut pieces I have been moving around for the past couple of years and hardly ever look through when I am making pages.

I do but then I get into a major buying spree! I try hard to be good and then there’s a sale and I’m screwed. I’ve used up TONS of project life kits lately by going to pocket scrapping! And then Citrus twist had their insd sale. .....

I made a real effort in 2017 not to buy much. I was pretty successful, although I'm sure DH would not agree! I did make a dent.
I'm trying to be very selective about what I buy. I try to remind myself there will always be another cute Easter line, for example.
That said, I am heading to Crafts Direct on Saturday with some friends...

No, I never seem to make a dent.
I just went through a major purge and tried to be brutally honest with myself. I probably got rid of about 5 moving boxes full of stuff (small sized boxes, though) that I'll sell on Kijiji - there's still a market here for scrapbooking supplies. I also got rid of some of my Scrap'n'Cubes to keep myself in check - I want less stuff and I want to use it up faster.
Things that I vow never to buy again: alphabet stickers/thickers (I can cut titles out with my Silhouette), matching dies for stamp sets (my Scan'N'Cut works wonderfully), more ink pads except for SU's yearly in-colours and the current re-vamp, ribbon, washi tape, and patterned paper (until I use a lot of my current stash of paper up).
I just used some of my Scenic Route papers yesterday and it felt wonderful.

Even with not shopping hardly at all, I'm not seeing a dent. However, I only scrap about 3 times a year when I do my weekend retreats. I get about 20-30 pages done at each one, so I'm only doing the equivalent of an album a year. I have 3-4 albums going at a time, that's why I put "equivalent".
I am at a point now that I am running out of places for my completed albums and I'm concerned what I'm going to do when these supplies are transformed into albums. I also have built up quite the stash of non-consumables, which takes up a lot of space, too (stamps, dies, embossing folders, tools).
I do pull out things I don't see myself using or that I've lost the love for and donate those items to a friend that manages the activities at a senior living facility. She has a very limited budget, so she is grateful for any donations. Back in February, I donated over 100 sheets of 12x12 pp and I could not see a dent.

Haha no! I have created a ton of pages in April and May but I shop more when I'm making more so I think my stash actually grew!

right now my stash is at capacity (ie my storage is full). That's my sign to stop shopping and start scrapping. Since I haven't done any scrapping really since February...I'm really hoping that this summer will be productive and I can make that dent in the stash. In a good month, I can easily scrap 50+ layouts and that will make a small dent particularly if I can do that for a couple of months in a row.

It's amazing to me, how many layouts one paper collection can actually make... and paper pads are even worse. I still have some papers from a "the Slab" from M's from 2003...
