I was coloring in my stamp to make a card and all the sudden my copic mark let out a huge blob of color. I’ve been at this for awhile. Does that happen to you colorists? I have to start all over again.

Oh bummer!
I don't have copics, so I don't have any advice, but I'm sorry that happened.

It happed again. I’m onto my 3rd stamp. This time I tossed that marker aside and I’m using a different color. I colored in the hair first since that was the problem spot.

Yes, it happens to me from time to time. It's annoying and unpredictable to boot, so I try to get in the habit of opening the pens NOT over my work because sometimes I will open it and it will splatter over everything!
I believe it has something to do with the pressure inside the pen, and you can often see if it's about to blob like that because the tip will look like it's full and about to drip. (Kind of envision that moment when you're wringing out a washcloth and all the water comes up, just before the surface tension breaks and it all comes out of your washcloth.)
If you spot it before it blobs, take the other cap off and set the pen down horizontally for a minute to equalize the pressure.
Since it happened to you a second time with another marker, you might think about getting out all your markers for your project, taking the lids off both ends of all of them, and just letting them sit for a minute, then recap and go back to coloring.

Sounds like a good idea. Geez I could have at least 2 cards done. Maybe this is my karma for using unbranded dies. Kind of like taking lava from Hawaii. Lol. Only thing I don’t know where a lot of the originals came from.

At the price of those pens, and their stature in the art field, I would be on the phone. Imagination International, Eugene OR (541) 684-0013.

I agree with don. You really should call the company if these pens are not working properly. I don't use Copics much. Wondering if you are just learning, you may be gripping the barrel a little tightly. If you can move it to the side and tap on some scrap paper from time to time that might help?

If the pens are fairly new (or I'm sure there's other instances also) and were just shipped, or taken on a flight - you'd need to depressurize them by opening both caps and let it rest (like was mentioned above). The pressure needs to equal out.

I’ve had these pens for many months and haven’t used the but once. I store them vertically. Maybe I need to store them horizontally. I was so made I threw it on my mat. Good thing for alcohol wipes.

They are too juicy/over filled. I have a few like that and if you remove the cap from the other side while you're using it, the extra ink doesn't cause a problem. Once you've used some of the ink and it's not so full, the problem should go away.

Just happened to me this weekend too! I've heard it's caused by overfilling, but I didn't know the trick about removing the other cap!

Thanks to everyone for the tips and ideas. I have a couple that keep doing this too and I didn't know I needed to take both caps off. I will try that!
