As the bride/groom? Not.
My brother did that and it was a mess. No one wanted groom's cake, and the cutters cut giant slabs and ran out before even half the people had cake.
Granted they did a lousy job, but regular cake is easier to cut and look nice, and easier to make smaller pieces if needed.

You forgot to have the choice of both. .

It depends. If it was a white cake with a great buttercream...I would choose cake. If it was a Choc cake and a plain cheesecake where I didn't have to get the topping...I would choose cheesecake. Optimally I would love to have a small piece of each (yup I am greedy. ).

My brother and sister-in-law had a cheesecake wedding cake. Each tier was a different flavor. It was good, but if you don't like cheesecake you were out of luck because we Yankees don't do a groom's cake.

I voted cheesecake. Truthfully, it depends what kind of cake and/or what kind of cheesecake. If it's a cake covered in fondant, I'm going with the cheesecake.

Unless the cake is of the "death by chocolate" variety I could pass. Cheesecake wins every time over regular cake.

Wait, if it was a cheesecake covered in Heath bar, I want to change my pick.

I strongly dislike cheesecake, so I would definitely vote for regular cake. I know that's not a popular opinion, though. Seems I'm usually the only one in a group that can't stand the stuff.

Depends on how long its been sitting out. If I spotted the cheesecake sitting out when I arrived at the reception and it was still there after hors d'oeuveres, dinner and some dancing, then I choose the wedding cake for sure.

Cake with buttercream is da bomb.. but cheesecake tops chocolate cake exception is I love Costco's chocolate cake. What's up with that?

I love both. For ease of serving, unless they are mini cheesecakes, I'd opt for cake.

Depends. Fondant? Blegh. But does either cake look dry? I've had really good and really bad examples of both regular cake and cheesecake. We did both. Italien wedding cake with excellent frosting and a multi layer cheesecake covered in chocolate for the groom's cake, one layer was Amaretto flavored I don't know or care about the other one I don't remember which was more popular.

It has to be really good cheesecake. Nothing in life is more disappointing than bad cheesecake.

I want both!
But really it would depend on the type of cake and type of cheesecake. I tend to like my cheesecake in simpler forms with just fruit toppings. And my cake just white cake with buttercream or maybe some sort of lemon/raspberry filling.
Really though I'll probably eat either one fairly happily!

The only cheesecake I like is the chocolate Ghiardelli one from Cheesecake Factory. I love wedding cake with buttercream frosting. I have actually been craving some lately.
