That is dessert discrimination right there. They both can coexist.

I strongly dislike cheesecake, so I would definitely vote for regular cake. I know that's not a popular opinion, though. Seems I'm usually the only one in a group that can't stand the stuff. You’re not alone. I don’t like cheesecake either.

I voted for cake. But it really depends on what type of cheesecake or cake. Plain cheesecake with a raspberry sauce doesn't particularly appeal to me. ETA: Okay, I've given this a bit more thought...... Even though the majority of people here have chosen cheesecake, I still think cake is a safer option. A lot of people love cheesecake and would choose it over cake, but a lot of people also dislike cheesecake. I would think that most people who like cheesecake also like normal cake, but not the other way around. Please note, this is not scientific research!

I personally would pick cheesecake. But, I’d also be fine with cake. But, not all cake fans are also fine with cheesecake. So..if you can just have one, I think your better offering cake.

A really good wedding cake has the best frosting ever.
And I live for frosting.

Depends on the flavors of each option. Also how long has the cheesecake been sitting out? If it is not "fresh" I wouldn't be as interested. But odds are I might want a little of both!

Not that this is an issue for me but it is for my DD -- what about your guests who are lactose intolerant?? That would possibly change your results too if only cheesecake was offered.

Cheesecake is vile, nasty stuff. Definitely a wedding cake with lots and lots of buttercream frosting!

We had cheesecake at our wedding, basically as the groom's cake. I think most people had both.
It would depend on the flavors for me, but I love a good wedding cake. I don't like fruit flavors in either.

Whichever one is chocolate. But actually, I love both equally, just totally depends on the flavor which I would pick.

I have psoriasis and Dairy is one of my flare up triggers. So even though I like cheesecake, I would choose regular cake because it would affect my skin less.

To cheesecake or not to cheesecake that is the question. Jen chocolate is always the answer I agree! When my daughter finds a guy and gets hitched I hope she lets me plan a chocolate bar her wedding reception! I would have a lot of fun planning that! Jen

I voted for cake but it depends what they both look like. I like cheesecake, too, but I like good cake more. So if the cake looked good I’d chose that. Good to me is buttercream Frosting and no weird flavor filling. I know, just give me a slab of cheesecake smothered in frosting. #winner

Neither will be sitting out. It’s a sit down meal so I assume the will be refrigerated until served. I will let the bride know to have a lactose intolerance option.

@jumperhot - also make sure to tell the bride that fondant is evil & disgusting.
I admit that I am indifferent to plain cheesecake; the main reason I voted for it is because I associate wedding cakes with fondant. The kind of cheesecake I prefer is chocolate chip, chocolate, or lemon. Or vanilla. I think I could/would eat the one you mentioned - regular old NY cheesecake with raspberry sauce. But if it's not chocolate sauce, it has to be raspberry. I'm not wasting the sugar on blueberry or strawberry.

I think we are in the clear since the wedding cakes she has shown me are clearly buttercream. I am craving white cake with butter cream icing and raspberry filling. I will sip on my water instead.
