wellway - Thank you for starting this thread. My daughter starting playing soccer when she was four and still plays today. She followed World Cup '94 with a sticker book when she was 7. She still has a beach towel with Striker the mascot of '94. She is planning to attend games in 2026 with her friend since 8 (whose parents are Brazilian) when they will both be 39! Since the US isn't in this World Cup, we are rooting for Brazil or England--(lifelong Michael Owen fans). Anyway, best of luck to all ![](http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/r481/2peasrefugees/Smilies/cheer.jpg.gif) . I can see football being a lifelong love for my dd too. I hope your dd and her friend are successful in getting tickets when the time comes. There is talk of an UK bid for 2030, maybe I will be able to tick a world cup match off my bucket list then!

Will you have a chance for Euro tickets in 2020? I am hoping to get tickets for one of the games in Munich then, or possibly for 2024 if Germany wins that bid. My son became a football 'convert' when one of my DH's work colleagues loaned us his season tickets for Bayern Munich while he was visiting back in 2013. 10 minutes in and he was totally hooked by the atmosphere in the stadium. He became a ref in Australia - he felt at age 25 he was too old to aim for a career as a profi player!

sueg hmm, you are planting an idea! We went to the Womens Euros in 2017 and enjoyed it. The Womens World Cup is next year in France. Unfortunately the dates may well clash with exams.

Interesting result in Argentina vs Croatia. Not looking good for Argentina to get through to the knock-out games.

Very tetchy match, so many yellow cards, horrible goalkeeping mistake.

Just saw these guys interviewed on the BBC. They are attempting to watch a world cup match with fans of all 32 countries. They are based in London and some of the highlights include seeing Iceland play with 400 Icelanders in a pub and watching with eight Nigerians in a barbers shop. That sounds great fun if not a bit exhausting www.instagram.com/watchingwiththeworld/

Germany Vs Sweden has just taken years off my life. AMAZING free kick from Kroos, with less than a minute to play won it for Germany, so they are safe for now.

Belgium was on fire today and Germany got (unfairly?) lucky. I have to say though that that last goal by Kroos was a stunner.

I felt that Germany dominated the game for long stretches, and were unlucky not to score a couple of times. Given they played the last 10 minutes a man down, I don't think they got unfairly lucky.

The drama of that game, amazing. Unbelievable winning goal.
What was happening on the touchline after the final whistle? Lots of pushing and shoving with the staff.

I'm sorry, I didn't completely clarify. I meant that there was a huge foul that Germany didn't get called on in the first half (I missed the first half due to work, but looked up the foul later), so they got lucky. But I certainly don't want to take away from their amazing finish, playing with 10 men and scoring a goal despite the handicap- was just amazing!

Oh yeah, that foul not being called was very lucky - and it was the same player who was eventually sent off. I am a big Boateng fan, but he is becoming more clumsy as he is getting older and slower. And that goal was totally amazing! I have watched it so many times, and still pinching myself that it actually went in.

I see the two Swiss players have to explain themselves to Fifa for the double eagle sign after their goals. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44592846I'm still not understanding the non penalties for the rugby tackles in the box. I think if Serbia had been given a penalty for the double player pull down it would have changed the nature of the game. Getting ready to watch England...

Sweden felt that Germany's team celebrating in front of them was 'rubbing their noses in it'. Germany disagreed. Pushing and shoving ensued. I didn't see it, as German TV was replaying Kroos' goal over and over.

Our commentators were just talking about how Colombian fans have been partying in the streets of Kazan all day long already... ![](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/Ivm7lm0DayrhoRpwvCeH.jpg) Their optimism is definitely paying off!
Poor baby. You don't recover from hearing damage at such a young age, unfortunately. Living with tinnitus is also no laughing matter.

The final group games begin today, 16 places, six have been claimed, ten places still available. Good summary in link of who needs what to qualify. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44587232Now we have to choose which game to watch as the final group games have two matches being played at the same time. Who remembers the Germans (West) v Austria playing tip tap football for most of the game to maintain the score line back in the 80s? Rule change followed. Today's games Saudia Arabia v Egypt and Uruguay v Russia kicking off at 15.00 (UK) Iran v Portugal and Spain v Morocco 19.00(UK) Kick off

Big Mexico fan here. We're lucky to get into the knockout phase after that poor showing against Sweden. Watching Argentina v. France right now and France is getting a little chippy. Go Argentina!

Yes, we were lucky, but we were also strong and got 6 points. It was a very hard Group. Looking forward to the Brazil match. But after Sweden, I’m not too optimistic.

*whispering to self* I survived this game. I survived this game. I survived this game.
If this wasn't the Frenchest way for France to play... Up and down like a freakin' rollercoaster when it came to keeping focus and staying tight on the defense. It's either total madness or nap time, nothing in between. Black or white. Add some serious talking to decide who's going for it between Pogba and Griezmann, again, very français. This approach to decision-making can drive foreigners trying to do business with the French completely cuckoo. Feeling self-satisfied enough to drop the ball, not really a matter of being too proud as much as content enough. "This'll do. Oh shit, Argentina just scored again." Sigh. But Mbappé, my man, again. And Pavard.
Don't get me started on the almost-brawl at the end. This could prove costly for the next game if Portugal/Uruguay figure out how to push the buttons of the youth. Do. Not. Engage.
It's tough because there's so much raw talent but they're babies on the French team, absolute babies. Mbappé is only 19. Pavard 22. The squad is the second youngest overall in the World Cup this year and only has one player who's been in the World Cup before (Griezmann). Argentina is the fourth oldest in the competition which brings experience but also slowness.
Apologies to Messi for cancelling the WC dream. Not to Otamendi and Mercado.

sleepingbooty Mbappe is a joy to watch. Seems the last teenager to score two goals in a World Cup match was Pele in 1958. Big big boots to fill but with his talent they may well fit. Looking forward to seeing him play again.

Interesting result in Argentina vs Croatia. Not looking good for Argentina to get through to the knock-out games. DH was pretty bummed over this game. But then he was real happy Portugal lost. That was quite a game! I kept running from the living room to the kitchen as I was cooking dinner.
