Apparently a stranger puked on someone’s driveway. Homeowner is extremely angry and posted about it including a picture of said vomit. :-(

Ok, you all made me go join. There wasn't one in my old neighborhood in PA and we also didn't have an HOA and I said I'd never live where there is a HOA. Well, I lied a little, because now I'm in one. I don't like it but I love my new house. I signed up under DH's name, so they can't find me on FB. Hehe he'll never know or care.
The FB HOA group is quite tame although someone was shamed today for letting her dog run loose. It's not the first time. She deserves it.
The ND seems pretty similar, just lost/found pets, I need a plumber, etc.

@z*G (said teasingly) weren't you not only an "I'll never live where there's a HOA" person but more of a "oh heeeeelllll no. I don't understand why anyone would live in a HOA" person? Or am I mistaking you for someone else (which wouldn't be a surprise knowing my memory)? Regardless, enjoy Nextdoor..it is an amusing site!

One of our neighbors went missing and was later found murdered in January in a weird murder for hire plot that made national news. Next door, for those of us who resist joining the controversial facebook group our HOA runs was a godsend. I kept checking it constantly and neighbors would update that police wanted us all to be alert, police were in front of their house with search dogs, or police are back again in the parking lot in front of condos, etc. Better coverage than the local news.
In June a double murder took place (yes, I live in a high crime area) in the neighborhood behind us about 1 mile as the crow flies and they network with us on next door so again it was the place for news updates instead of the local stations that rarely even mentioned it.

I'm on ND and ours is fairly tame. We have this one gal who always tries to pull the race card on almost any conversation, but fortunately she only shows up in spurts. (great, now I've beetljuiced our ND group)
Our ND is close to a neighborhood watch at times, since we have a regular ND contingent who either are retired or work from home. Between ND, my friend at the other end of my street (aka the crazy cat lady) and my neighbor 'kid' (he's actually in his late 20s but he's mentally about 10 due to a rare allergic reaction to a childhood vaccination that almost killed him and left him with brain damage) who rides the neighborhood on his bike, I (and the neighborhood) pretty much know what's going on at any given time.
