Ok so I don't expect everyone to send cards to everyone. I always do but that's just my nature of 'I can't not.' That being said, I hope no one is signing up without any intention of sending cards but only receiving. That would be a sucky thing to do. BUT I don't want that to become 'a thing' that would derail this swap. I really enjoy it. IF you are someone who is bothered by some not sending cards how about you (general) make it your own personal responsibility to take the list and check it twice, just like Santa. If it means that much to you don't send to those you don't receive from in previous year. IRL people often cull their card list when losing contact with people and/or not receiving cards in past years. Do that for yourself but lets not derail this swap. please. Me, I could not tell you how many cards I have rec'd unless I went and counted them. I could also check "the list" but I won't. But "you" can. To those who had good intentions and "stuff happened" please don't feel bad. Happy Holidays! ETA and now the looking at nicolep 's photo(s) above the questioning myself in my crazy brain begins... I hope I didn't eff up and not stamp and/or address all cards. I don't see mine there. Anyone get card with photo of close up up random (mine) kids' face/eyes wearing Santa hats? If not, oops. and sorry.

I didn't complain, but there is a group who noticeably doesn't participate and it's vaguely conspicuous.....OR their cards are late and I am wrongity wrong wrong wrong. It would *not* be the first time.
I don't see that it's a high crime to complain to the organizer about it though, especially where people have been in every year and noticed repeat offenders (which I think I understood was the story).
Whatever. I am drowning in cards over here, and thanks to those who posted pictures of theirs because I was mildly suspicious that the stack I handed over at the UPS store was waylaid or something. I see my boring ass card, and I was relieved. Whew!

christine58 I hope you reconsider after time passes. If you don't participate please don't make it because of OTHERS score-keeping. For those who are score-keeping go ahead and do it. for yourself. Don't expect @leowife or anyone else to do it for you. Not their job. Not that any of this is. They are doing it out of kindness. Please don't put that burden on them or anyone else.

Crikey, simmer down folks. I don’t know what some y’all are reading, but from the OP this clearly isn’t about people who don’t send to everyone - that has never been the expectation, and @leowife doesn’t say anything about it. It’s also not about people whose life throws up difficult circumstances which prevent them from sending any - I think we all understand that shit happens sometimes.
This is about people who have failed to send any cards year after year, which is not at all in the spirit of the swap.

Put it on your DIY list to send/not send to those you find abusing the system and don't expect anyone else to fix it. I don't like the idea of those who are 'all take, no give' but am probably not going to notice who "they" are and will just keep on keeping on and send to all. But that's just me. Feel free to do same, opposite or in between. All by yourself. "you(s)" are all general and not referring to quoted pea or anyone in particular.

The idea of this swap is not to have to send a card to everyone on the list. So, with that being the case, how does anyone know that those who supposedly didn’t send cards just didn’t send to scorekeepers? I know I don’t get the same number of cards as signed up. I’d rather err on the side of spreading holiday happiness. Maybe there are peas who signed up and never intended to send cards out. I think they probably need those cards more than the rest of us.

Well message received. I won’t sign up next year. ✌🏻 This makes me sad that you and christine58 might not/won’t sign up next year My first thought was, I would rather the scorekeepers not play. But I like the suggestion of them just not sending to those they feel are abusing the spirit of the exchange The rest of us can take our chances that we send a few cards to takers that didn’t intend on giving

I feel like I contributed to the dust up by saying I'd noticed, but it's quite innocent actually and it seems to be causing hard feelings, so I'll explain in case it helps.
The "group" is largely non US cards. I got 2 from Canada. I noticed because, like the last time I participated several years ago, I was looking forward to the envelopes and cancelled postage/postmarks that I like to use for decoupaged crap I gift to my friends. But a bit unfortunately, like the last swap, nada except from a couple Canadian friends - thank you!
That's why they are a "group", and that's why it's fairly conspicuous to me. Like I said, they may show up this week and then I shall be back to say I suck and I was wrong. I got so many beautiful cards, I am not and did not complain, but I don't think I am an evil scorekeeper for noticing when I was kind of looking forward to them. I wouldn't have even remembered until I saw the note in the edited OP today.
I hope that helps and makes sense. No judgement or recriminations for anyone; sending them and this thread are the best part.

Wow.
For the record I sent a card to everyone on the list last year and I got a few cards returned because the address labels fell off. Note never buying Kraft envelopes from Amazon again.... This year I sent mine out late, again to everyone on the list....So,if you had northrigg on your " bad list" ....you are wrong.
My husband felt I spent too much time making the cards this year, that it got in the way of making decorations for the table etc. He thinks I shouldn't do it next year but I like to think of the folks that maybe don't have a lot of family, and the smile it puts on their faces to get one.
My cards brought me a lot of joy this year. I made my cards small to reflect that this year I am rejoicing in the small things in life as my 12 year old son has been very ill. The deer reflects my heritage , the music paper because my sons were both (supposed to be in choir this year) and music fills our house with sound when its been so quiet, the message "peace and joy", joy because my heart is filled with joy in seeing my son walk a short distance, and "peace" well we all need it.
For those who are keeping a list I think you should think about your reasons why you participate.
Thanks again to the organisers.

As an ‘international’ swapper, I don’t send to all, and I’m not at all surprised that others don’t either. It is much more expensive when around 90% of the list is international to you. I managed to send to about half this year, and although I tried to make sure I sent to mostly different people than last time, there will probably be some who missed out again.
At the same time, I never expect to receive from everyone, and I’m not keeping track. By chance it seemed to work out this year that I received a similar number as I sent, but I know that’s just a fluke. I love them all, and visitors have loved seeing them too.

I received international cards too and not just from Canada. I sent international cards also and cards to Peas in the USA. I have loved this card swap for the 4-5 years I have participated. This is the first time any type of negative feelings have come into it. I'm going to brush all of this off and will most certainly participate next year. The warmth, kindness and Christmas cheer receiving the wonderful Christmas cards from all of you Peas in the days coming up to Christmas (including today when I got two more) more than overcomes any negativity I have felt reading about this problem today. I refuse to let a few bad apples spoil this fun.
I want to thank each and everyone who sent me a card. PLurker I loved your card with your children's eyes in the photo. So clever. I loved every card that was sent to me. I keep all of the cards sent to me each year and tie them with a ribbon. Then I make a note of the year and RefuPeas Christmas Card Xchange and tuck them away. I now have I think 5 stacks of these cards.
I can't wait until next year and I'm already planning my homemade cards for next year which I plan to start working on soon. Have a wonderful New Year everyone!

I received international cards and not just from Canada. ditto. and consider their cost is so much more than the majority of us in the US. I'd probably have to cut down if the card swap US/not US population was reversed and the cost more than doubled for me. or save up.

Thanks for the thanks. I have helped organize it for two years and haven't even had a chance to get in on sending/receiving cards yet (last year I broke my hip right after sign up but before i had anything done and this year I moved states) so I expect everyone to take a step back and come back next year when I'm hopeful I do not have any major life events going on. I was thinking about this and maybe it would be helpful if you can't send to all to mix up the order of labels a bit. I'm wondering if people near the end of the list feel it more than those near the top of the labels. Please breathe everyone...it is a stressful time of the year for all and after a few days, perspective shall set in for those that feel frustrated on both sides of the issue. Happy New Year to all!
