ABC, 10 Eastern/9 Central. I’m really looking forward to it (hope I’m not disappointed).
Who else plans to check it out?

Thanks for the reminder - I thought I had set it to record but luckily just double checked and hadn't set it - it is now set.

I've been watching Castle reruns the past few weeks and every episode has at least a few commercials for the premier of The Rookie.
I'm excited but a little apprehensive. Richard Castle was so perfect for him and I loved Kate Beckett and all of the supporting characters.

SPOILER!!
I had to quit watching at the end. Having just lost 2 friends (deputies), in a shoot out, I just couldn’t watch.

I caught the end and I thought he was really stiff.
I’ll have to rewatch it and try again next week.

Getting old sucks!
As for DVR...I have no idea if we have that. See above.

I don't think I'll watch it (not my kind of show) but one of my former students is Melissa O'Neil who plays Lucy Chen on the show ... it's so weird to see her on the commercials

I just watched it and I really liked it. It goes without saying that I love watching Nathan Fillion but I was really happy to see Richard T. Jones as the Sargent. I will definitely keep watching this show.

Castle was my favorite show. Given that this was ABC, Alexi Hawkeyes, and Nathan Fillion, I really expected this to just be Castle 2.0.
I can do without the bodycam footage but I like the rest of it. I was pleasantly surprised that they wrote him as disciplined and good at his job, rather than charming and bumbling. We will watch again.

I’m speculating. I think they’re hinting that he’s wealthy and doesn’t need to work, and is hiding that fact from everybody. Including his girlfriend. Claiming the beach house belongs to a friend.
He’s taking so much heat fir being an older rookie. Could you imagine if they knew he was wealthy? Just my guess.

Hmmm - interesting theory - it would explain the House better than an unseen friend letting him live there for free. I really am enjoying the show

Meh. I didn't like the show much- but Nathan Fillion... I do like watching him, so I will probably tune in next week. I'm the opposite. I'm not a Nathan Fillion fan but I watched the first episode and really liked it. Plan to watch the 2nd this weekend. What I liked is that he is humble. I also really like all the other characters and that they are being given significant stories. It isn't all about him. The only thing I don't like is putting him in an expensive house at the beach even if it is the guest house.

Yes, I was thinking this too because of the beach house and the way he stumbled with the explanation of where the “owner” of the beach house was to his girlfriend. I also think he may have become wealthy from a big lottery win. Remember the scene with the runaway bride and the lottery ticket? So far, I’ve really enjoyed both episodes. Love his partner on the show.

I finally watched the premiere episode last night and eh. It moved slow. I’m not sure about the body cam angles. Hated the love story aspect - lame in every way. I don’t expect shows to be 100% realistic but I didn’t find any of this believable. I’ll watch the 2nd episode to see if it gets better but I think I’ll be tapping out on this one.

I’m pleasantly surprised. I expected his character to be more, well, Nathan Fillion / Castle, but I like how down to earth these made him.
I don’t like the love story aspect. It isn’t needed so far, so unless they come up for a really good reason for it I wish they would have left it out. I know they’re playing up the fact that his trainer has told the girlfriend to break up, but I don’t see it going anywhere interesting.
I hadn’t thought about him being rich. I thought they were setting it up for a great cameo, but the fact that he sold his business makes sense he would be rich.
