I was petting my dog around 6:30pm last night and found a tick on her head. The tick's head was under her skin. I tried rubbing counter-clockwise around the tick to get it to come out. No luck. I called my vet and they said to bring her in right away because they close at 7:00pm. I put my dog in the car and starting backing out of my garage. I was freaked out about the tick and was telling my dog to sit down. CRUNCH. That's when I backed into my daughter's car causing damage to the front bumper and front fender. I also scratched my car's rear bumper. Luckily, my boyfriend owns a body shop so he'll do the repairs. I'm just so mad at myself for being distracted and careless. I told my mishap to people at work. I'm surprised to find out some of them had crashed their car into another car in their driveway. Has this happened to you or someone you know?

yes, fairly similar situation.
My dh leaves the house before me most mornings. About 10 years ago he was the mystery reader in our then first-grade daughter's class. He left the house and about 20 minutes later I left. Went to the garage, got in and started my car, backed out and boom. Hit his car.
Although my daughter's school is on the way to his office, it is about a third of a mile from our house and parking at the school is not good. It was a beautiful day, so dh decided to walk to the school, do his job as mystery reader, walk home, get his car and drive to work. I just assumed he had driven there, parked, read, continued on to his office.
He has still not let me live that one down.

Yes, I have. Long story involving being late to an event and not paying attention.

Yep -- my DH parked his rental outside the garage on "his" side of the garage. I pulled out of my spot headed to a breakfast meeting and it was very dark. I turned right into that upgraded sports car. Because it was a company rental, we had to get a police report. The Enterprise crew know him well as he rents from them every week. They still tease him about calling the police on his wife. And this was over a year ago!

My ex backed ‘my’ car ( that had just been fixed ) into my garage door. And he didn’t have a good excuse like going to the vet.
By ‘my car’ I mean the one of our cars that I usually drive.
Stuff happens, don’t worry about it.

Yep. Hit my SIL’s car while it was parked behind me. Usually, no one is behind me, so I didn’t even think to look. Luckily, both were older cars, I was going slow, so no damage.

Yes, one morning, I was in a hurry to get to school. I backed my car out to turn around and my fender went under my husband's Jeep. He had always cautioned me about checking to see what had happened if I hit something before I tried to fix the problem (if safety was not an issue).
I got him out of bed to check it out. He was able to jack up the Jeep, and I pulled the car out from a under it. No damage to either. If I hadn't followed his directions (for once), there would have been damage.

When our DD was a teen, she backed my car out of the garage and hit her dad’s car. So we had damage done to both of our cars. Fun times having a teen driver. We were telling a friend of ours about what she did, when he sheepishly told us about his story. He was a volunteer firefighter with blue emergency lights attached to the top of his car. One night he got a fire call in the middle of the night. He was about half asleep when he backed out of garage, forgot he had the lights on the car and failed to wait until the garage door opened and ripped them off the car and damaged the garage door. If that wasn’t bad enough, he also forgot that his wife’s car was parked in the driveway behind him. Ripping the lights off his car slowed him down, but he still managed to do a fair amount of damage to both cars. Ever since then, I’ve been really careful when backing up, but I may or may not have hit my garage door frame with my side view mirror more than once.

My DH was at his mom's house parked in the driveway. She went to run to the store and backed right into the front of his car. He then moved his car to the left side of the driveway. His sister went out and backed right into the front of his car again. This happened within a half hour of each other

I never have. But my ex did... three times. Hit my car, later a friend's car, and more recently one of our son's cars. He's a really lousy driver.

My husband backed into his car with my minivan. I was SO glad he was the one to do it, rather than me!

No, but my FIL backed into our car the morning after MIL passed away. We had all gotten home late after an obviously difficult night. He parked in the garage and we were in the driveway right behind. We never parked in the driveway, but it was late and we had a lot of things to unload after a long hospice stay. He unexpectedly headed out for something early the next morning and forget we were parked there.
It did enough damage that the car wasn't driveable, which was just one more layer of stress for everybody during a terrible time.

I haven't but DH has. I had a brand new 11 day old Cadillac that DH was fooling around with in the driveway. For some strange reason that I have never understood he had the car in drive. His foot slipped off the brake, hit the small section of wall on the side of the garage door, hit the back of his Vette in the garage and pushed that into the refrigerator along the back wall. Try explaining that one to the claims adjuster especially when you're your own agent!

Yes. 7.5 months pregnant and backed out of my garage and removed the side mirror of my husband’s new car in the driveway.

I smashed my brand new van into my mother in laws car exiting our driveway when we first moved here. I seriously crunched my bumper and somehow broke a hole into hers. She was very gracious about it. Insurance took care of everything. They chuckled when I told them. So did the car repair guys when they found out that we were all related (small town, we use the same insurance and mechanic providers). 😂.

If I remember correctly StephDRebel has a really funny story about hitting two cars in her driveway. I think she wins.

Yes, I have. Our last house we had a rear detached garage that sat opposite our neighbor's. So that had a shared driveway from the alley. One time I was upset about something and I backed out of my garage right into my neighbor's car, which was parked on his part of the driveway. I ran bawling through his backyard crying and banging on his back door. "Dennis, I backed into your car. Waaaaaaaah!" I was so upset and so embarrassed. Luckily, he was so kind and gracious about it!

I'm going to show my DD(19) this thread because she ran into her brother's car this summer and felt SO bad. She was sobbing when she came in the door. And there wasn't even any damage. She'll be happy to know she's not alone.

Yep. I backed into my middle son’s car leaving the garage. He wasn’t too upset since the car was on its last leg. A few months later after he got his new car, my youngest son backed into it. The next day he backed into the house but that’s another story.

Yes Dh parked his truck across the back of our driveway directly behind my SUV. I was driving oldest dd home, it was dark and we were chatting. I looked out my back window and due to the angle of the driveway my window looked right through the tinted window of his truck. Backed right into both passenger doors.

A long time ago, my Dad backed out into my first car. It was a really old Buick junker, but it was made like a tank. I swear his car bounced off of it.

Yes. When I was about 20, I was pulling into our driveway. My mom's car was parked further back then normal. There was a company truck parked in front of her. I tried going around her and I was worried about the tree on my side. Just about took my mirror off on the other side by hitting her car.
DS is 16. Just got his DL in May. Labor Day he was backing out of our driveway. DH's truck was parked in the long part of the driveway (it's a side entry). DS thought he had cleared everything and forgot dh's truck was there. He backed down the side of it. Then proceeded to pull forward. I felt so bad for ds. He knows how dh is about his trucks and cars. DH was able to most of the damage out. It doesn't look super pretty up close but it works for the time being.

Not me but years ago my husband ran my cherry ‘63 VW Bug right into the garage door. Wrecked the hood of my car and the garage door. Never did figure out why he didn't stop. Chalked it up to brain fart.

Not me, but DS was so carefully backing out of the driveway, making sure that he didn't hit my plants, that he didn't notice his sister's car on the other side and ripped off her bumper. I told him next time to take out the plants.

Yes. My mom woke me up out of a dead sleep, really ticked that my boyfriend's truck was blocking her car and demanded I move it immediately. I forget why it was there, he wasn't and I didn't drive his vehicle much if at all. Anyway, our driveway is on a slight incline and I fell asleep as soon as I took it out of gear. Old (metal) truck rolled into her itty bitty MR2. She was sooo mad.
