Whatever they were trying to imply with all the red trees - was accomplished. I did like all the other trees.

Emily C Singer... “Melania's Christmas decorations look like they're straight out of the Shining” Kind of does look like that when you think about it. The red trees remind me of skirts of ball gowns which makes sense when you consider the person making the choices. IMO what she did was bring “New York Sophistication” into the White House which is the people’s house. What is missing is the whimsy that is associated with Christmas and appeals to the “child in all of us”. Once you get rid of those ridiculous red trees and the half assed attempt with “Be Best” the decorations are pretty but more geared to adults than children. Ah, I am from New York and none of that says New York sophistication. I couldn't think of a better name for it . But I do believe that is the type of decorations you would see in their ridiculous gold apt in trump towers. And that is fine for that apt, but not in the White House.

Seriously. Can a bitch get some twinkle lights in that hallway? THIS IS NOT HARD, PEOPLE. Maybe that White House aide that Melania had fired was supposed to bring the twinkle lights? There are always consequences to our actions.

@fred
I remember people used to describe that style as trump gold. Fake and over the top. But that was more Ivana.

It seems opulent and not keeping with the disarray that the US is in. We are short money everywhere: Congress, social programs, immigration, trading, farming... We have ecoli issues in food weekly. They're going to sell parts of national keepsakes for companies to drill/frack.
It all seems too much out of place for what's happening. Like there is no connection with the US outside of the Glamorous World of the White House and the Trumps.

So if *out-of-touch* and *us vs. them* was the look they were GOING for, then they NAILED it. Otherwise, not so much.

The cityscapes were beautiful and I really loved the effect of all of the trees with white lights on them.....
But send those damn pencils to a school with no money, where the teachers are spending their own paychecks to buy supplies, instead of using them for craft projects to make yourself feel like your campaign is doing something 🙄
And if anyone wants to know what the war on Christmas looks like.... I am gonna have to say those red trees win out over any coffee cup design.

I’ve seen nicer ornaments at the Dollar Tree, LOL.

I remember watching HGTV shows about that in years past (maybe back when HGTV still had crafting shows); they'd showcase the different crafters and show the ornament style they were going to make to send in for that tree, and what a great honor it was to be chosen.
I don't feel like going to look, but does anyone know, do they still have a tree in the White House that's decorated like this? with ornaments made by craftspersons from every different US state?

I did think the mantle was pretty with the gold cityscape. But that wreath is trash. I liked the mantle. The rest not so much. The red trees were scary. It actually reminded me of The Handsmaid's Tale. Yesssssss. It looks like Handmaids lining the corridor while the Commander's wives walk through.

If the red trees were at least covered in cranberries, that would be helping with the 80% of the harvest they're having to destroy. (I think it's 80%, I may be wrong. It's a lot, whatever the number is.) They are awful. Lights would at least make it feel less heavy and sculpted. I'd prefer a green tree with a ton of berries on it, with white lights.
Most of the rest is pretty if fairly generic to me. Be best...well...not much nice to say there. It could have been cute if they made it a truly kid-friendly room or tree, I suppose. Instead, it was just jarring contrast to the rest of it.
I did love the mirrors with the skylines. I'm pretty sure there were at least 2 of them? I'm not willing to watch again to find out!

I like everything except the red trees. That hall of red trees is a bit off putting.
The be best wreath is silly but the person who put all that work into it did a fantastic job so I like that too. I love the city scapes I really like all the lit trees I like how the balls were grouped together in those.

I like the red room.
My aunt used to wear knitted capes and shawls. It’s a protective device. You hunch to keep the cape on and that protects your chest. Her husband was a groper. In our family photos you see most of the women standing up against a wall or with their arms crossed. As soon as you grew breasts you were fair game for a hug from behind.

The very first thing I thought of when I saw those red trees was that Australia would like it's termite hills back please....
It looks like they grabbed a few and just sprayed them with red glitter paint!

I think they need some warm white lights rather than those bluish tinged ones on all the trees. Although even the red trees would be improved with the bluish tinged ones.

I really don’t care - do U? I'm right there with you. I don't think I'm capable of feeling anything warm towards these people and I'm usually not like that.

Well, everything but the gauntlet of red spiky murder trees was pretty. I really liked the subtle use of red, white and blue in the other decor.

I agree, that clumpy red stuff is weird looking. someone on Sirius Radio (the progressive radio station) said this morning that it evoked *used tampon* to them... <snort> I JUST said this to DH (that it looks like used tampons!!!!). All he said was that it was "too much" in 1 hallway, and "too much red". I agree.
Some of it was surprisingly okay with me. The eagles? Nope. The "Be Best" $hit? Nope! Too much gold?? Nope! But some of it was normal.
As far as her appearance, I am perpetually irked by her. She never appears to be comfortable, and I'm beyond blaming her background, culture, 'model' days, etc........ She comes across as a cold, uncaring person, and as though she's trying very hard to cover tons of deep, dark secrets. Blech! LOVED the comment about her coat on her shoulders/gloves in hand, waiting to run out the door. True!!! She never looks comfortable! Did you see the live footage of the family at Thanksgiving? It was so very sad & pitiful!

I don’t exactly mind the red trees, except the way they’re displayed makes them look unfinished as if that hall is the staging area,

I saw another picture with googly eyes on the red trees. They looked like the Sesame Street martians that go “yip yip yip.”

Hated the red trees, looks weird but the other trees and decor was beautiful. The be best wreath? I guess they need subtle reminders if not being assholes. Yeah and that's working. Lol. 15 seconds of my life I can't get back. That's about as long as u could watch.

I came here to post the pic FrozenPea posted! You'd think someone would have said, "Hey, after last year's feedback, let's tone it down a bit. Like, ixnay on the freaky weirdo several identical undecorated mono-color trees, mkay?"
