None of those will cure a virus.
There is great saying about colds. It takes 14 days to go away if you treat it, 2 weeks if you don't.
I'm sorry you are sick. Colds are miserable.

I agree, no miracle cure. But I do always feel better when I take tylenol, drink lots of water and I usually make a batch of my chicken soup. Probably psychological, but it makes me feel better.

The medicine bomb tea from Starbucks is supposed to be good for making you feel a little better. My co worker swears by it.

DH swears by those Zicam (Zycam?) swabs when he starts getting the 'tickle' of a cold coming on. I have to admit, he is never down for more than a couple of days when he uses them.

Hot lemon honey drinks help sooth the sore throat and get me going in the morning.

I generally feel better from a cold if I start drinking some orange juice, even though I think science says that vitamin C isn't really gonna cure anything. I do sometimes wonder whether something about the acidity of it helps to break up some of the crud hanging out in the throat, but I have nothing scientific to back that up.
The last cold-like illness I had came with a sore throat, and the second one where I had white spots that were not strep. I decided to gargle with listerine to try to kill anything that was hanging out in my tonsils. I feel like it might have cut a day or two off of the illness. But be really careful not to swallow the listerine!

My tried and true cure is a bottle of Walgreen's liquid Cold & Flu medicine. It is behind the counter - usually on a top shelf - and the liquid is red. It will knock you off your feet and knock out the cold. I hope you feel better.

No cure for a cold. I Rx Mucinex, flonase and often Delsym cough meds. My personal favorite is some good chicken broth followed by some NyQuil just so I can get some sleep. And I tell patients ALL the time that we just have to give it time. Of course, they get pissed and "report" me because I won't give an antibiotic, too. I do hope you feel better soon!

We never use cold meds. They make us feel worse so we don't waste our money on them anymore. The only thing we ever buy and use is Ocean Saline Mist (or generic). Spray in your nose many times a day, blow your nose, rest, and you will get better faster. Also tons of fluids to drink. Works for our family, and has for years. Edited to say that we also use Flonase daily, wipe down any shopping cart we use with an antibacterial wipe before use, wash hands a lot, and it helps with prevention. I have not had a cold in 2 years because we try to prevent getting it.

Wait for it to run its course. Takes 7-10 days to get over a cold. Rest, fluids.

Nothing will help get rid of it, as others have said. All you can do is suffer through it and cover up the symptoms if you're out in public. Like most of us have to be. I always take daytime cold medicine (CVS store brand is our favorite because it tastes a bit less like poison compared to the others) so I can go out without sneezing and coughing all over everyone. And I take the nighttime stuff so I can sleep. The thing that I find the most annoying about colds is the cough that lingers LONG after the cold is gone. I still have the cough from my first winter cold of this year (and hopefully the last, although I hang around with kindergartners so that's doubtful ).

Lots of rest and fluids. I do drink about 4 packets of EmergenC (a day) at the first hint of a cold. I swear by it, but it is probably all psychological. Feel better.

If you feel better after you take the Emergent-C then who cares if it's "all psychological"... whatever works. In fact I'm glad you mentioned it because I need to have some this morning, I forgot to take it when I got up. And anyway, the placebo effect is a real thing.

When it gets real wintery I will just drink one every morning. I used to be able to get one of my kids to do it too.

I find the only thing that works for me as I get older is as much rest as possible.
Feel better soon!

I take a general over the counter pain relief/ fever tablets just to keep my temp stable and the aches and pains at bay. A high temp is what makes me feel the worst.
