I finished nothing this week. I'm about 50% done with a book called The Ragged Edge of Night by Olivia Hawker. Enjoying it.
I'm super busy this week as well although I should finish it. I will have a short vakay from Dec. 17 to 20. I will likely have to work but hope to get some extra reading in.

I finished Michelle Obama’s “Becoming,” and it was sooooo good. I especially loved learning about her childhood and young adulthood. What a gifted storyteller! I’d highly recommend this memoir.
I’m just starting “Less” by Andrew Sean Greer. Like, just on the first page. I’m at 44/50 for my annual reading goal, so hoping to make it!

I listened to Nine Perfect Strangers. Well, I guess you can say that I was warned about this book. I’ve read all of Liane Moriarty’s books so I just couldn’t not read this, but I will not be recommending this one. As with all her books, I love the way she develops her characters and felt this was no exception-just the story, ugh, I’ll go with the most common descriptor-weird.
I’m going to start One Day in December. It looks like my kind of book.

I felt like many of them could make their own book!

I read One Day in December from start to finish last night. It was much better than expected. It reminded me of a well-written Emily Giffin.

Me too, although I listened to the audiobook and hated the narration as well. My pet hate is when an author gives us characters that are dreaming/drunk/stoned and follows with pages of nonsense. Which is exactly what happened in this book. I ended up skipping large chunks in this section. I also thought the Masha character was far too OTT.

I finished reading Then She Was Gone by Lisa Jewell. I give it 4.5/5 stars. I really liked reading this book and figured parts of it out but oh my, it broke my heart and I had to keep reminding myself that it is a novel.
Now I'm reading 3 short stories by James Patterson collaborating with 3 other authors. Nothing to write home about.

Hey Readers!
I read The Mars Room by Rachel Kushner. It was a bleak tale of life in prison, but really well done.
Now I'm reading My Sister the Serial Killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite. Set in Nigeria, the beautiful Ayoola deals with her relationship problems by killing her boyfriends. Her plain but smart sister Korede always cleans up the mess. But when Ayoola gets involved with Korede's crush, what will Korede do to stop the cycle?
This one is short; if you're looking for a quick read to meet your Goodreads goal, try this one!
Happy Reading!

I finished THE STORYTELLER’S SECRET by Sejal Badani and thought it was SO SO SO good. I said last week hat it is about a woman having trouble with her relationships at home so she travels to India to learn about her mother’s family. I loved it and wish it hadn’t ended. I want to know what happens next for the characters.
Will be looking here for something new to read.
Paige.

I finished the third book of the Indigo Brothers trilogy Indigo Justice. Wasn’t happy to find that the first book in the series finished without any resolution but luckily I was able to read the next two books through the Kindle lending library.

I read Bitt-Marie Was Here by Backman. This book came after A Man Called Ove but before Beartown and you can find elements of both books in this one. A middle-aged woman leaves her cheating husband and tries to make her own way. She is very fastidious and a bit narrow minded and she will be challenged and changed by meeting characters very unlike herself. All the elements of Beartown are here: a stuggling town, eccentric characters, a community that lives for sport (soccer), but this book is not anywhere as good as Beartown. A good read, but not his best.
@elaynef, I read The War That Saved My Life as a book club book with a group of 5th grade girls this year and they loved it. It's a great read for both adults and kids.

Still reading 20th Century Ghost by Joe Hill. The short stories work well at this point.
Though, I did start reading Adnan’s Story by Rabia Chaudry (sp?). Was introduced to him through my Criminology class, as we used the Serial podcast to apply theories and such to his story.

I love her books and the the one one audiobooks are read aloud with a British accent. I can’t wait to read her new book coming out soon. Currently I’m reading a book by Gregg Olsen called The Last Thing She Ever Did. So far so good. It set in Oregon along the Deschutes River and about a missing boy. It goes back and forth between characters so I’m not too sure how everything is related so far.

I finished Baby Teeth. Its about a creepy seven-year old mute girl, Hanna, who hates her mommy and wants to kill her. She wants mommy out of the picture so that she can have daddy all to herself. Supposedly compared to We Need to Talk about Kevin but no comparison. I just wanted to finish the book.

But it was a really good book!

I haven’t posted in about a month, but I have been reading!
Here is the list:
Look Alive, Twenty-five the latest Stephanie Plum novel. A quick read, but this is a series I read out of obligation to keep going. But I end up asking myself why, as it’s just so formulaic at this point. 2/5
The Dream Daughter by Diane Chamberlain. A favourite author of mine, love her books. Was not too sure about the time travel component, but she sucked me in! 4/5
The Rain Watcher by Tatiana de Rosnay. I keep waiting for her to write a book as good as Sarah’s Key. This is not it. 3/5
Nine Perfect Strangers I agree with others on this thread. Weird. Just weird. 3/5
Speaking of weird, The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton. This one was recommended to me, and the jacket description mentions it is a cross between Groundhog Day and an Agatha Christie mystery. An accurate assessment, but it jumped around a lot and I had trouble keeping track of the characters. And it was just weird. 3/5
And most recently, I just finished Heads you Win by Jeffrey Archer. I really enjoyed it, couldn’t put it down. It does have similarities to his Clifton Chronicle series, and ends on a serious cliffhanger, but I look forward to more books in this new series 4/5

I am listening to A Spark of Light by Jodi Picoult. It's interesting but they way she is working backwards in the timeline is annoying me.

I kept thinking of all she missed in life and what a horrible situation she was in just because of that horrible woman.

I read THE GIRL IN THE WINDOW by Renee Pawlish. Maybe 2.5/5 stars. It was about a neighborhood of women, and there is a tragedy, and their response to it. I chose it as my free kindle owners lending library choice this month, and it was said to be a thriller. I read it quickly, it read more like a young adult novel, and the women acted like they were in middle school or high school rather than grown adults who were married with responsibilities and households. Kind of disappointing.
I also read THE WIFE BETWEEN US by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen, 4/5 stars. It's hard to say too much about it without giving away any spoilers, but I enjoyed the book, and I'm seeking out other books by these authors.

If it's kindle, does it mean it's not a book that you can get from the library? I don't have kindle, so I am very unfamiliar with it.
