UPDATED: He spent $207.50. Therefore, the winner is....... ~Zoey~ , with her guess of $210. Congratulations Zoey!
2nd place - elaine with her revised guess of $200
3rd place - twistedscissors with her guess of $215.37
Now, if you want to get technical: For those whose guesses were in $USD, I have converted it to $AUD using the current exchange rate of $1 USD = $1.39 AUD. The joint winners, with their guesses of $150 USD / $208.50 AUD, are elaine (with her first guess) and Jili . Well done girls!
For those of you who guessed higher amounts, I will point out that the only reason DSO didn't buy more is that he didn't have a $1 coin to get a trolley (shopping cart). Thank goodness for small mercies!! Therefore they were limited to what they could carry in their arms.
What he bought: Polo top for DS (see photo), 5lb (FFS!) of sliced American cheese (DS loves that crap!), Bone suckin' BBQ Sauce, Colombian coffee (phew!), Angus Beef Meatballs x 2, French Mustard (2 pack, hiding behind the sauce in the photo), iPhone charger (dammit, that was going to be my stocking filler for DS), prawn cocktail for lunch, box of Caramel M&Ms.
What he didn't buy that was on the list: Liquid Smoke & Smoked Paprika (they didn't have any).
So overall, the damage wasn't too great. I'm incredibly thankful that bc2ca and gsquaredmom were waaaaaay off the mark with their frightening guesses of $450 and $665!
Thanks for playing everyone!
Original post:
DSO just got paid after 5 weeks of virtually no money coming in (he's self employed) and he had to pop down to Costco for "a few things". He asked me if I wanted to go and I said no, but no sooner had he left than I thought I should have gone, just so I can keep him in check. After scrimping and saving every cent for 5 weeks, I'm scared to have let him off the leash.
(One time we went to Cosco and we'd only taken two steps inside the store, and he was saying "What about this? Do you want to buy one of these? How about this one? I think you should get one of these" etc etc. I kept saying "No, we don't need that, we're not buying that...." The woman in front of us was laughing and she said "I'll take him, he can buy me all of that stuff!")
This is what is on his shopping list:
meatballs
mustard
liquid smoke
smoked paprika
BBQ sauce
coffee
That should come to no more than $40 - $50.
Now, let's play a game where we guess how much he actually spends. Nearest the pin wins the game. No prizes, just the satisfaction of winning!
Give me your best guess...........
