My husband and I cannot agree on what to have for our big meal on Christmas Day. So, if you guys are planning a big meal for either Eve or Day, whatcha having? In desperate need of some ideas! Thanks!

We're having turkey (both on the solstice and Christmas Eve). But if you're feeling adventurous, what about lutefisk? Pinnekjøtt? Smalahove?

Our tradition was a local pizza place that everyone loves. One if their busiest days is Christmas, it's kind of a local tradition. When we moved, I started ordering Giordano's because they will ship across the country. It's an acceptable compromise. No fuss and everyone is happy with dinner!

It’s looking like Christmas Eve will be Cracker Barrel (not my choice). For Christmas dinner I am making rosemary pork loin, spinach salad with pomegranate, blue cheese, walnuts and balsamic dressing, potatoes of some kind, and a dessert to be determined.

Our big Christmas celebration got cancelled til the 29th and we're going to my stepdaughter's on the 26th and unsure what she's doing. Christmas Eve we go to DSD's inlaws house for a sort of potluck. Now that we're home on Christmas Day, I'm trying to figure out what to have that won't be redundant to our other two celebrations and am thinking about making a homeade chicken pot pie and maybe some asparagus.

I think we're having steak. At the table at work this morning, one person is making gumbo and another is doing shrimp and grits.

There are just 4 of us on Christmas Day & one is vegetarian. I'm thinking filet mignon and roasted portobellos, mashed potatoes, THESE yummy Brussels spout crostinis, spinach salad & pie. We also have a big Christmas breakfast.

We are having a grazing table for Christmas Eve and the leftovers will be saved for late breakfast on Christmas day. I got DH a gas bbq for Christmas so chances are good we'll be having steaks for a late Christmas lunch

I'm doing an easy everyday crock pot dish for Sunday and Monday so I'll have the kitchen counter space and time to do my baking. On Christmas Day I'm planning a spiral sliced ham since our local grocery has a very good deal on one. I'll freeze the leftovers to add to vegetable soup this winter. I also have rolls in the freezer for Christmas day and I'll make a couple of side dishes. There are only 3 of us so I don't have to do that much.

I have a friend who always has fish on Christmas Eve and one that always has Pierogi.
We always had seafood bisque.
Christmas Day has almost always been ham but this year it is Chinese by popular demand.

Lots of cow this year. Steaks on Christmas Eve after Mass and Christmas Day will be Burning Feather's Italian beef and ham. Not making a big meal, we will just have sandwiches

I picked up a small pork roast, so either that or lasagna. I'll see what sounds good to DH. This year is very low key.

Christmas Eve is dinner at the Cheesecake Factory with my daughter and my 4 grandchildren....it's the only day of the year we go so it's special and makes it feel like Christmas for us.
We go to our daughter's house Christmas morning and she makes a breakfast casserole, fruit salad and cinnamon rolls. It's served up buffet style so we tend to pick at it all morning. We then go home or go to a movie or something as my daughter goes to her in-laws for Christmas day dinner 3 or 4ish in the afternoon.

Our family traditions are eating out at a nice Italian restaurant on Christmas Eve, and for Christmas Day dinner: roast beef and Yorkshire pudding, mashed potatoes and gravy, usually green beans in various incarnations, and a couple of new sides each year to keep the meal interesting. We all look forward to this once a year holiday feast

Christmas Eve, my main dish is baked fish with pasta and salad, cookies and ice cream for dessert, appetizers are a variety of fish and shellfish apps.
Christmas Day is my SIL's problem, I'll eat whatever she makes.

It's just the two of us on Christmas Eve so nothing real special. Christmas day we're celebrating at our oldest daughter's home with both daughters, husbands and grand-girls. Dinner will include prime rib, baked ham, twice baked potatoes, roasted asparagus, green salad, fresh fruit, and various desserts.

Since it's usually just DD12 and me, and our good friend - her godmother - we usually do Lasagna Soup at our friend's request, homemade bread and peppermint cheesecake.

I’m still trying to decide. It’s just the 2 of us and traditional turkey and ham isn’t really our favorites. On another thread someone posted how they cooked filets. So I think I might try that for Christmas Eve and then maybe lasagna for Christmas Day.

I don't know about Christmas eve yet. I've been sick all week and haven't been able to think about food. Christmas day is set in stone -- roast beef, yorkshire pudding, green beans, maybe mashed potato, spinach salad with pomegranate seeds, and a yule log from my great grandmother's chocolate cake recipe.

Christmas Eve is appetizers. Christmas Day is usually prime rib, but this year we're having that for extended family celebration on the 26th. So we're going to have duck l'orange -- which I've never made before. Wish me luck!

Christmas Eve is always Crawfish Etouffee. Christmas Day is typically ham, but I'm thinking about trying a Prime Rib this year. I've never made one so don't know if I would be biting off more than I am capable of though.
