And cause the closure of all the businesses that depend on legal workers who come across the border and our citizens who travel over the border to Mexico. Not even counting tourists! oh but he doesn't care about THAT- because it doesn't affect HIM directly. Just like all those OTHER things he doesn't care about-- because he's stupid, clueless, and ignorant. One big problem is that it would affect him directly—but he has no idea. Closing the border would negatively impact his resorts in addition to impacting the economies of many businesses and several states.

Trump threatened to close down the border as part of a broader fight with Democrats over building a border wall and funding the government. AKA: "I'm gonna hold my breath until I turn blue, unless you give me what I want." <puts hands on hips, stomps foot...> <falls on the floor, kicking his feet and pounding the floor with his hands>

”I’m reminded of something a Republican said to me during the attempted Moulton revolt: “Nancy Pelosi is as good as Mitch McConnell thinks he is.” Anyway, Trump v. Pelosi in 2019 will be lit.”

Kyle Griffin...
”Somebody does need to challenge the President," from within the GOP in 2020, Jeff Flake, who did not rule out running himself, tells CNN. "[T]he country needs to be reminded what it means to be conservative... and what it means to be decent."
And this is why the Democrats can’t count on “anyone but trump” vote. Because by the time the general election rolls around it may not be trump. So we have to be smart on who we nominate.

Us, but the current administration is 1000 times worse. If it takes baby steps to get there so be it. But Trump is determined to bleed America & the earth dry asap no matter the consequences. Yea, America first- first to be the polluted shithole beyond repair NY Times Story
Washington Post on Mercury spewing coal powered plantsA Democratic President will first have to start undoing all the damage trump is doing, as well as move forward with additional changes. But the real question is are we past the point of taking baby steps when it comes to climate change? As someone who lives only a few miles from the damage down by the Wine Country wildfires from last year. And the fact that a neighborhood in my little town was evacuated because of that fire, and seeing the destruction from this year’s crop of wildfires I do believe we are way past the baby steps stage. As to Beto and his statement it’s a false choice between oil/gas and clean renewable energy, let me ask a question. Last night all over Twitter was the story that trump was easing the regulations that stopped coal powered operations from spewing toxins into the air like mercury. We know that gas and diesel powered machines, including cars, also pollute the air with harmful toxins. So if there was a better cleaner way to get the energy we need, why in heaven’s name would we want to keep using a dirty energy sources that are polluting the air we breath, the water we drink, and ground we grow our food in?

linkAnd then there is this from Time Magazine.. “ A TIME investigation reveals a Russian ex-spy was a key link between Paul Manafort and a Putin ally”
From the article.. When the U.S. government put out its latest sanctions list on Dec. 19, the man named at the top did not seem especially important. Described in the document as a former Russian intelligence officer, he was accused of handling money and negotiations on behalf of a powerful Russian oligarch. The document did not mention that the man, Victor Boyarkin, had links to the 2016 campaign of President Donald Trump. A months-long investigation by TIME, however, found that Boyarkin, a former arms dealer with a high forehead and a very low profile, was a key link between a senior member of the Trump campaign and a powerful ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin. In his only interview with the media about those connections, Boyarkin told TIME this fall that he was in touch with Trump’s then-campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, in the heat of the presidential race on behalf of the Russian oligarch. “He owed us a lot of money,” Boyarkin says. “And he was offering ways to pay it back.”The former Russian intelligence officer says he has been approached by the office of Special Counsel Robert Mueller, who is investigating possible collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign. Boyarkin’s response to those investigators? “I told them to go dig a ditch,” he says. Peter Carr, the spokesman for the Special Counsel’s Office, declined to comment. Through his spokesman, Manafort likewise declined to comment on his alleged connections with Boyarkin”

Mueller, She Wrote Podcast..
”The house judiciary and intelligence committees have officially CLOSED the three-year investigation into Hillary’s emails
ZERO indictments ZERO felonies ZERO arrests ZERO convictions
Mueller has nabbed 38 people or entities with over 200 felonies. 52 are “collusion” #winning”
Kind of like the 8 hearings on Benghazi.

Well done dt!! (NOT) Trump pulled out of a massive trade deal. Now 11 countries are going ahead without the USBy Katie Lobosco, CNN Updated 9:59 AM ET, Sat December 29, 2018 New York (CNN)A major 11-country agreement goes into effect Sunday, reshaping trade rules among economic powerhouses like Japan, Canada, Mexico and Australia — but the United States won't be a part of it. That means that Welch's grape juice, Tyson's pork and California almonds will remain subject to tariffs in Japan, for example, while competitors' products from countries participating in the new Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership will eventually be duty-free. Japan will offer similar tariff relief to the European Union, in a separate trade deal set to go into effect on February 1. "Our competitors in Australia and Canada will now benefit from those provisions, as US farmers watch helplessly," said US Wheat Associates President Vince Peterson at a hearing on the potential negotiations with Japan. ** The stakes will be even higher now that the Trans-Pacific deal is going into effect — especially for American farmers who were eager to take advantage of more open markets abroad. Tariffs will be phased out over a 15-year period under the CPTPP. Tyson Foods and Welch's have both complained to the US Trade Representative's Office about how their products will be at a significant disadvantage around the world if no action is taken. ** www.cnn.com/2018/12/29/politics/tpp-trade-trump/index.html

In the mean time, we still have to get oil somewhere and it's a bad idea to be heavily dependent on other countries for that. Literally every major oil producer is involved in researching renewable energy sources. They see the writing on the wall and would rather change with the times than go bankrupt. Hopefully in a decade or two, we can all start complaining about big wind and solar.

A better way to have put it, the future is clean renewable energy that will eventually replace fossil fuels and that we as a ountry/world must work toward. Not it’s a false choice etc. I like Beto, I follow him on twitter so I have an idea what he is up to. Like over Christmas, when ICE dumped a lot of migrants, with no warning and at night, he was right there working to get those folks into shelters. I think Beto would have been a good Senator for Texas, working on issues important to all Texans. But can that be translated to where he would be seen as a good president for all Americans? Plus I think Beto has something else against him in that he is a white guy. The diversity of the Democratic Party would almost dictate the nominee either be a woman or a minority. I think people, on the left anyway, are getting tired of seeing white guys in leadership roles when there are women and minorities that would be just as capable if not more capable if given half a chance.

trump has hit all time new low..
”Any deaths of children or others at the Border are strictly the fault of the Democrats and their pathetic immigration policies that allow people to make the long trek thinking they can enter our country illegally. They can’t. If we had a Wall, they wouldn’t even try! The two.....
”children in question were very sick before they were given over to Border Patrol. The father of the young girl said it was not their fault, he hadn’t given her water in days. Border Patrol needs the Wall and it will all end. They are working so hard & getting so little credit!”
Will someone kindly explain to him what asylum means.
“For those that naively ask why didn’t the Republicans get approval to build the Wall over the last year, it is because IN THE SENATE WE NEED 10 DEMOCRAT VOTES, and they will gives us “NONE” for Border Security! Now we have to do it the hard way, with a Shutdown. Too bad! @foxnews”
The Democrats have no problem allocating money for border security without the wall. You know, the wall that trump promised Mexico would pay for.

This Coloradoan would vote for Beto based on what I know of him. I don't need a minority or a woman as POTUS and I don't think the left is in agreement with that saying at all. I think there are people who do think that way, but there are just as many who won't care about that part of a candidate if the ideals align. Personally, I think that kind of thinking is detrimental to the party finding a good or the best candidate.

I think he'd be great on a ticket with Kamala Harris. I just don't think we need to misrepresent or take out of context what any candidate says. That's how we end up with a bunch of people who "can't" vote for our nominee in the end.

I would argue that he is too green, but since our current potus is worse, that argument doesn't hold as much water. I'd like for him to be a Mr. Smith goes to Washington type thing. I happen to like our current term-limited governor, John Hickenlooper. I think he will probably throw his hat in the ring. Again, he isn't hated by the right (outside of Colorado) so he doesn't have that hill to climb. He's been good for our economy, steps up and takes responsibility, has bridged the gap in many areas. His downfall will be the NRA hates him with a passion and he refused to follow a jury's sentence for the death penalty.

trump.. “2018 is being called “THE YEAR OF THE WORKER” by Steve Moore, co-author of “Trumponomics.” It was indeed a great year for the American Worker with the “best job market in 50 years, and the lowest unemployment rate ever for blacks and Hispanics and all workers. Big wage gains.” Heather Long... ”A big takeaway of 2018 = There are still Americans left behind, even in a 'strong economy' -40% don't have $400 in savings for an emergency -45% still rate the economy as 'poor' or 'only fair' -4.8 million stuck in part-time jobs -129 suicides/day” From the Washington Post.. ”The benefits of this ‘strong economy’ have not reached all Americans” And what workers and what country is trump talking about I wonder?

I'm still waiting on more evidence that the Russians have (supposedly on Trump), regarding naked texts and possibly video. Heard it quickly on MSNBC news this morning. This could be the real "red line" for Trump. He doesn't like to see bad hair pics or "fat" pics of himself. Imagine these naked pic texts being a part of the evidence? ? If I read more tidbits (LOL) about this, I'll update.

Hence the necessity for baby steps wether I like it or not that’s what we have to work with. Failure to realize that/act against it is whatgot us here.

She was all, if I broke the law I’d be in jail & my kids would be taken away if there’s no relatives. I’m like, asking for Assylum isn’t breaking the law and our current policy is that you have to ask AT a point of entry. Thats like eating in a restaurant & the waiter tells you to pay at the cash register but when you get to the cash register with your bill & money in hand they claim your dining & dashing and call police. You want to change immigration laws vote to do so. Shit we should we have the easiest system on the planet to apply for a visa & over stay it. In fact that’s how most illegal immigrants are here. Wall that off

Hence the necessity for baby steps wether I like it or not that’s what we have to work with. Failure to realize that/act against it is whatgot us here. You are correct that I am only one vote. And I explained why I won’t vote for Beto and I’m talking about not voting for him in the primary. I don’t think I mentioned that. If he should become the nominee I will vote for him, I won’t be happy but sitting home is not an option. As to asking questions why someone thinks it’s a good idea to stick with air polluting froms of fuels when they are or will be clean options, why not? It’s a fair question. I have reached the point that that when it comes to climate change, it is my opinion, that we can no longer take baby steps. As a Democrat it’s safe to say I support the majority of what the candidates are selling. But because there will be sooo many candidates, and I’m not seeing anyone that really stands out from all the others, there is nothing wrong in “culling the heard” by giving a more negative weight to an issue I believe strongly in and eliminating him or her from the crowd. But we have over a year so things can change. But right now for me, he is out.
