I’m not a fan of going to the movie theater, but I watched a bunch of movies this weekend, dreading having to work today. I watched Dumplin’, Life of the Party, Blockers, Bird Box and I feel Pretty. Those were just the ones I hadn’t seen yet, there were some other classics I the mix too during our game night.
And I even got a lot of work done taking down Christmas, so the movies were my reward, lol.
I’m hoping to watch some more tonight and tomorrow. What did you watch?

We watched the first Fantastic Beasts movie. We took dd to see the one in the theater at Thanksgiving and questioned a bunch of the plot. She then told us it was movie #2 in the series so we watched the first one to understand the second a little more.

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before - I loved it.
My family has been watching Criminal Minds nonstop. Not my genre at all, but it’s pretty good. Some episodes are are so effing creepy it’s hard to watch.

We watched American Crime. True story. So sad and disgusting. We also watched Bird Box and Venom.
ETA - another true story that was so sad is White Boy Rick.

I watched Dumplin yesterday. Yep, its definitely a movie that will make you cry but it’s so good. I did read it’s very different than the book so just be aware. i also watched Book Club. It didn’t have a very good rating on Netflix but I liked it.

we watched Edge of Darkness on HBO, a 2010 movie starring Mel Gibson. It was better than I thought it would be (I don't particularly like him as an actor); it was a political-type thriller with a very convoluted story line. We were originally going to re-watch Dr. Strange; we may watch that one tonight.
I kind of want to watch The Greatest Showman again, but I'm not sure I want to put us both through that (because I don't want to listen to my DH complain about the fact that it's a musical, lol). I'll probably wait till the next time he's out on the road to re-watch that one.
How was Blockers? it looked like it could be *kind* of funny.

The Spy Who Dumped Me— it was ok. Reminded me of the other comedy spy show that Melissa McCarthy was in.
You (this isn’t a movie but a mini series on Netflix - we’re almost done with it and I find it so boring and stupid. I hate the whole narration part of the movie because it takes up so much of it..DH likes the movie though.

We watched "The Bird Box", "The Birdcage", "Solo", and a couple episodes of "Grimm".
I'd forgotten how incredibly funny "The Birdcage" was. Nathan Lane, Robin Williams, and Hank Azaria were genius together. It stayed very relevant despite being more than 20 years old.

It took me four days to get through Love Actually. It is such a good move, and I hadn't seen it in a while. I just can't sit through movies and see maybe 4-5 a year at home.

How was Blockers? it looked like it could be *kind* of funny. I really liked it. It was funny. I have teenagers, so it was funny to see how the parents/teens reacted to each other. And I really like Leslie Mann, so I liked it. DD12 and I watched Sleeping with the Enemy. It came out in 1991! I was surprised how much I remembered. Sleeping With the Enemy is one of my favorite movies, but I haven't watched it in a long time because I'm afraid it didn't hold up. Lol. Did your DD like it? I watched this a few weeks ago, and liked it just as much now as I did years ago. I saw it was on sometime this weekend too, but chose something else this time.

I don't care for the movie theater either. I don't like watching movies in the dark. I prefer watching at home.
I borrowed two dvd's from the library. The Mountain Between Us. I thought it was good, but predictable. The Greatest Showman. Will watch it later this evening.

Dumplin’- loved it. Holiday Baggage ( cheesy-has to be former Hallmark movie- but it was on Netflix) and not a movie, but just finished all seasons of Comedians in Cars getting Coffee. DH really enjoyed the cars in the latter. I wanted some upbeat comedy to beat the Holiday blues.

Netflix: Nothing to Lose - French film dubbed in English (so no subtitles). Entire movie takes place over the course of one dinner with 4 couples. DH and I really enjoyed it. Roma - interesting cinematography but soooo slow moving. I'd prob. give it a 5/10.
Curious what others thought of these two.

Saw the Spider-Man movie - surprisingly I liked it a lot. I’m not a comic book/super hero lover and I thought it was beautifully filmed. Just gorgeous to look at.
Saw “First Reformed” tonight and thought Ethan Hawke was terrific and that it was also gorgeous to look at. Still have to chew a bit on the content and think on it, but I’m glad I saw it. It was interesting and thought provoking.
