No, I wouldn’t tip unless they really went above and beyond.
I am sure they toss any food gifts given to them by passengers.

No. Their job is to ensure safety on the flight and not to be a waitress.
I know that Air Canada flight attendants must take a yearly test on safety procedures as that is their job. Serving food & drinks is the least priority in their work. Many times, flight in-service is cancelled due to turbulence.
I don't know of an airline that even takes cash anymore due to security & audit issues. It is all done by debit/credit card.
Do you tip the cashier if they are quick when they scan your groceries?
Tipping has gotten way out of hand. The employer should pay their employees proper wages. It isn't my "job" to ensure that their (employer) doesn't pay the employee a proper wage. This includes restaurant and hotel employees. The employer is allowed to claim the employee expenses and the customer doesn't get this opportunity.

Hell no, especially after my most recent international flight, those flight attendants were the rudest people I have EVER encountered (though it wasn't with Frontier airlines, so maybe the possibility of tips would improve their attitudes).

No. I’ll happily and generously tip for severs and normally tipped positions, but I honestly feel tipping flight attendants is really taking the whole tipping thing, too far.

If I was a flight attendant I would want to work for an airline that had a policy prohibiting flight attendants from accepting tips, particularly if I was young and attractive. I think that some passengers would get all offended if you refused their tips and gave them no reason. At the same time, if you did accept their tips, those same passengers would feel like you owed them something. It would be so much easier to say "thanks, but I'm not allowed to accept tips."

auntkelly I don’t think most airlines take cash anymore. As to the question, no, I would not tip. Thanks for pointing that out. I actually fly quite a bit but I never buy food or drinks. I only take the freebies! There are no freebies on Frontier. I was so aggravated with being nickel and dimes to death with them a couple of years ago I swore I would avoid them again if at all possible.

Seeing all the tipping stories and questions from North American Peas I’m really grateful I live in a country where tipping is rare.

That. I think it’s treating them like a waitress if you tip them. They’re professionals, not an hourly+tips untrained worker.

Ridiculous! Is Frontier Airlines one of the airlines that charges for soda? What are we suppose to tip for the “good morning” or the “thanks for flying Frontier” they say to us as we board/deboard the airplane? Maybe they we can tip them for the safety info they give us at the beginning of the flight. “Mam, I walked past you 33 times during the flight I need a 20% tip for that.” Jen

Nope.
I hate frontier airlines. So many friends have been stranded because of their general shittiness. They're awful.

Most likely no unless they went far above and beyond for something. But I won’t Fly Frontier anymore anyways.

NO they get paid to do their job. I used to work for Southwest both reservations and in the airport. They do deal with a lot of crap too but so does any job. They always told us if you wanted to be a flight attendent it was a tougher enviroment. At least at the ticket agent there's only so much they can do.If there's problems. I have a good friend that is still a flight attendant for SW but he LOVES it. He started just after I left.He doesn't like the tipping idea. They all should do their job and do it well.
I had a horrid experience with Delta a few years back. Not only did they charge me for taking my O2 machine on the flight(when I was on it full time.for a while now at night)and it was reg O2 not a cpap) It was a small tank.. but they made me put it under the seat. It wasn't blocking the isle or foot space, because I'm small. It's not supposed to be laid down. II had even filed the necessary medical equipment paper work, that came from Philly medical -who handles that sort of thing. The flight attendant argued with me that it should have been checked. I was furious! I don't get upset too much in public. But I was ready to cause a scene because I had done al the requirements. I wrote a nasty note to Delta , threatening a disablity lawsuit. I got a phone call back from the HQ in Atlanta, they reimbursed me both legs and apologized for my experience and they said they would better train them on medical equipment. They wanted to give me a voucher for the cost of the flights. I told them I would never fly them again. And yes that the agents should know their policies. For the most part Flight attendents do a great job, and SW at least entertains you some depending on the flight. But tipping would not be good I do 't think.

But it's awful how poorly you can be treated by just one flight attendant and it runs your trip and perception of the entire airline, so I get it. I'm sure it was infuriating, and what would that attendant do with someone who needs O2 24/7? Expect them to use the emergency oxygen above their head?

When I took it to the Customer Service agent at the airport to refund the fees, they are the ones that gave me the HQ info. And said take it to the top. I was a little surprised they wouldn't refund me then. I think that it was more just utter astonishment since i had gone through all the hoops. I'm a little glad I don't have to travel with it now. I can order depending on the location and have it set up when I get to my destination. I did then as they didn't have one in the small town in Oregon where we would spend the summers. So we flew them a lot. As well as Southwest. Oh and they said I could use the drop down masks but they would charge me for each leg!

Now the attendants who bring/push wheelchairs between gates? Those I tip. I do also. They are contracted workers and not paid by the airport or airlines.

Absolutely not! Flight attendants have worked for years to be seen as professionals. Accepting tips takes away that professionalism IMO.
I've noticed some here, as well as on some travel blogs/sites I follow, give candy or small gifts to the attendants. Why on earth? Do you take your dental hygienist a gift every time you get a cleaning? Does the person doing your mammogram get candy as well (frankly, they need to be giving me candy and/or booze when I go in there)? Who even thought about starting this trend?

No, tipping is ridiculously out of control. I dont get tips for doing my job. I get my paycheck. Tips are meant for restaurant servers who make a server's wage that is below min wage. Everyone else is paid via their paycheck.

Professionals or not, Do we have to tip every single person we interact with as they are doing their jobs? It is becoming ridiculous.
