A huge issue for many flight attendants is that they don't want to be considered a "waiter or waitress on wheels". Tipping doesn't solve that issue does it? I wouldn't mind tipping, but first and foremost flight attendants are there to oversee your safety. Their job is far more important than bringing you a cocktail. ETA: I think we give enough money to airlines. Fares are not cheap.

it's kinda bizzar-i-o to me... at some point, am i going to go to my doctor's office, check in at the front desk for my appt and see a tip jar on the desk??
a flight attendant's job is to ensure a safe and comfortable flight for paying customers. some customers will be low maintenance, some will require a little more of their time.

No, I wouldn't tip for a flight, but I can see why an airline might suggest it so that their employees might work a little harder to please on a flight.
