A flight attendant would have to go above and beyond for me to tip them...

That is a good example to tipping gone too far.

OMG no. If they're not making a living wage, they need to talk with their employers. Helping passengers and keeping them safe is their JOB.

Just another reason not to fly Frontier. Because I would bet heavily that they aren’t paying the flight attendants a living wage, and that’s why they’re encouraging tipping. Screw that.

I would only tip if I bought food or drink from them. If the tab was something like 4.50, I might hand the flight attendant a five and say "I don't need change." It wouldn't really be because I was thinking of tipping the flight attendant, but more a matter of convenience for everyone.
That would never happen though, because I never buy food or drinks on the budget airlines.
If I remember correctly, they don't even give you water for free on Frontier, so I can't imagine a reason why you'd tip a Frontier flight attendant unless you ordered food or drink and didn't want to mess with change.

So, if I tip a flight attendant will they make sure I get out sooner in case of a crash?
That's how weird I find tipping them. They make sure to tell people they aren't just waitresses in the sky, that they are professionals whose primary role is safety. So why am I tipping them?

Not as a general rule - like for giving me my regular meal/drink service. But there have been times when flight attendants have gone above and beyond in some way and I'd like to be able to tip. That's definitely the exception, though.

It wouldn't occur to me to tip a flight attendant. Now the attendants who bring/push wheelchairs between gates? Those I tip.

auntkelly I don’t think most airlines take cash anymore. As to the question, no, I would not tip.

No. I also think it is odd to give them candy or trinkets when boarding.

No. I agree with others that tipping has gotten out of control and I’m so tired of it. Why should I pay extra for a service you should already be giving as part of your job requirements? If your job doesn’t pay you a living wage, move on or better yourself for one that does.

No way.. Doesn't that essentially dumb them down to a waitress level? (NOT saying a waitress is dumb!) But they are 'not' waitresses or waiters. So no, I am not tipping. ESPECIALLY FRONTIER who I used to love.. You can't sneeze on their planes without getting charged.

No, I wouldn't. I'm one that won't tip at the drive-thru window at Sonic?CFA/McD's... (I MIGHT, if I park, and someone has to bring it out to me in nasty weather, otherwise I don't do it there, either.), or at the register at Starbucks, either. That is how I see this situation. Ridiculous.

my sister brings on a little box or bag of candy when she boards. she says they are always appreciative. i don't know if it makes a difference in the service she gets or not. it doesn't matter, it is just a nice thing to do.
that said, i wouldn't tip them. nobody ever tipped me for doing my big girl job.

No. As so many others have pointed out, the tipping thing has gotten ridiculously out of control. For the prices one has to pay to fly, I expect to receive good service that I've already paid for.

No way. These companies are trying to get the customer to pay their expenses when we already pay well for a plane ticket.
