This year I am going to be alternating PL pages and full page layouts. I will probably do a mix of digital and physical pages, and I will stick to my 8.5x11 size. I use high quality baseball card holders for the pocket pages, and I can print four photos on a 5x7 sheet and they will fit pretty much perfectly. I like to make one page/week, it seems like that way lets me fit a whole year in one binder (especially bc I end up missing a week or three throughout the year). I LOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEE this idea! Baseball card holders and 8.5x11 will be around forever, right?
I won't start my album til February though, as I always run one month behind. That is my dream.
After reading some of the responses, I should include a photo of the snow. Fairly typical for my area, but it is so pretty!
A photo of the inversion weather we sometimes get. Hauntingly beautiful, but hard to breathe.
I finished binge watching The second season of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. I read a couple of books.
Lunar eclipse
Probably dumb, but my son took a nap in the middle of the day! It's worth documenting if you know the boy! He's definitely sick!
I love food and should probably include a couple of things.
A good friend moving.

I have an entire cubby (and overflow) in my Kallax dedicated to my go to page protectors (WRMK brand) because they are getting so difficult to find. This year, American Crafts didn't do their annual warehouse sale for the first year in as long as I can remember and even when I'm well stocked, I usually buy 10-20 of the 10 packs every time I go. I really hope they're going to have it again this upcoming holiday season because I want to get more. Will I run out anytime soon? No. But the shift in the staples being so difficult to find (and when you can find it, it's hard to find a good price on them) leaves me wanting to make sure I have like a decade's worth of PP and albums so I don't have to worry about finding them for a long time. I think that's why I got carried away last year with buying so many. It had been a LONG time since I had bought much of anything scrap related. Now to actually use them up!!!

lasteve1 I swear I saw a post with a black album Jamaica dug out of her stash that was a 6x12. I can't find it now, and I feel like a nut. Could I really have made that up in my head? I'll take her off the list, but I would have bet money that I saw that, I was so sure. I'm hoping you did and I missed it! I would love to see an album from her. I figured it out. It wasn’t Jamaica I saw. It was Azzari Jarrett! I was looking at Jamaica’s blog recently and must have thought that’s where I saw it.

I’m doing 8x8 again this year. I use Becky’s faux leather albums and I mix in 6x8 pages with divided 8x8 pages and full page 8x8s. I like to mix traditional pages in with pocket pages. I use cards by Kelly Purkey and I am still using the Midnight edition core kit. I do monthly scraping. I’m still finishing up 2018 but it’s good to have a plan for 2019.

I really want to get back to making a PL album. I haven’t done one in a few years and I definitely have never been able to complete a full year. The longest I’ve ever gotten was through June. Last spring/summer, I snagged three boxes of PL 12x12 page protectors on clearance for $7 at Michaels so I guess I should stick with that size even though I’m not really feeling it. My biggest problem is printing my photos off my phone. Why can’t I do this regularly? It’s so hard for me! I really need to make this a weekly habit!

I've done PL weekly 2010 (single 12x12 album/year), right now I'm trying to finish up 2018 before I even think about 2019. For me I struggle because I have too many photos so I use less cards which inevitably means I have a super healthy stash. I kind of like the idea of a monthly recap because I think I would scrapbook more traditional pages (personal goal this year) but I'm not sure what this looks like for someone who is photo heavy on a weekly spread.

This thread makes me want to start PL 😊 I really love the idea of documenting each month *starts chanting* Join us! Join us! Join us!
It really doesn't have to be elaborate or include every. single. detail of your life to be a PL album. But it's so much fun to sit down and flip through a year's worth of your life when you do PL.

Maybe you could use some layered templates to include more photos? Such as including 6 2x2 photos in a grid on a 4x6 card or even just two photos on one card. Some of the layered templates are really nice looking and I love the way they look in an album interspersed with full pocket photos.

I do do yearly albums...sort of lol but I really could start fresh this year although I haven’t taken many photos so far this year ... My only hang up is that I can get 12x12 page protectors so much cheaper than pl ones. I’ll check out Pinterest, and see if I can take a look at pl stuff 😊

I leave the journaling for last (which is why I'm always behind in this, haha). Anyway, if you can set up some kind of routine, it might help.

I totally agree. I made it a routine for the past two years. Sunday is always my big prep day for the week in all aspects of life, so printing the weekly photos went on that list. I would edit on my phone whenever I had a free minute, like waiting in pickup line at school, and have the photos ready to go. Then on Sunday they got printed and stuck in the pp’s. I still have the last 6 weeks of 2018 to finish up, but the photos are all there which makes it so much more manageable to do a quick spread when I have the time. I am going to take a break from my 12x12 weekly spreads this year and just do 6x8 as it comes. I will “break it into months” just for the sake of some organization and using up my kits, but no pressure to get 7 photos every week like before. That being said, I am still going through my camera roll and printing whatever I want to keep each week and sticking it in the album as I go.

Unfortunately this has been a bad month. We've had a hacking cough going around the family. Right now it's DS's turn. We will know for sure if my MIL has ALS on January 28, which happens to be my deceased fathers birthday. I guess I plan to document about my MIL but plan to keep it brief. Does anyone tend to avoid bad things in their scrapbooks like me? The number one reason is I remember them well and that's what stays with me and I forget the little moments that are good. I'm sorry about your MIL and pray that it's not ALS. My condolences on your father's passing, as well. This has been a bad month for me, as well. Just one terrible thing after another. I don't document that bad stuff, because, as you say, I can remember that no problem! I need to focus on the good things, and the little everyday things that make up our lives, and that I will look back on in later years and smile at. I do not need to look back on how shitty it was that my BIL walked out on my SIL this week and how we are all devastated for her, etc. That is not a feeling I want to relive. I do include some things that aren't great, like a photo of all the medications and supplements my son had to take for a while, just because it's interesting to look back on, or the back brace I bought for my mom to help her with her back pain - I'm not happy that we need that stuff, but it's part of our every day life. So I guess I wouldn't document the day my mom was diagnosed with cancer (just an example, she doesn't have it), for instance, but I may document a later visit with the doctor, or of her with my son and perhaps reference her cancer then, if that makes sense - more the every day aspects of the awful things we're dealing with, once I've come to terms with it more. I'm not sure if I'm being very articulate here, lol.

I think I might like to hang around this thread with you. I make a 12x12 family album each year, but this year it was so full I'm trying to think of ways to deal with the volume better. I think that combining some of my stories on PL pages might be the way to go.
I love the look of pocket pages next to full page layouts, but I always struggle with how to use the B side of the pocket page. I'm going to check out the links you posted for some ideas. Thanks for the thread!

I have shared my title page & week 1 on my instagram so far and I thought I would link up here. I do 12x12 with a full page spread (so across 2 page protectors) per week. You should be able to click on the arrows on each post to see the rest of the spread. https://www.instagram.com/p/BsTQ1LfD8R_ Your cat looks soooo cute in that black and white photo!

Excited for this thread! I've been doing PL since 2013 (it's what got me back into scrapping). The last 2 years, I've done it by month, not worrying about where the pictures fall in the month. I typically end up with 4 or 5 double sided 12x12 design A spreads (8 to 10 pages total) per month. I thought about switching to 9x12 but didn't want to deal with SC not having the page protectors & I make 2 albums per year already. I was worried I'd end up with 3 albums instead of two. So 12x12 it is.
I went back through my past albums and really thought about what I loved from each album. I realized I missed having the weekly title cards, dates, bit of real life ephemera like tickets and receipts. I had started doing more and more digital and was printing my layouts 12x12 and then embellishing on top. This was made things easy because I could just slip the pages into a normal page protector. I didn't even have to embellish if I didn't want too. After 2 years of that, I realized I missed the actual pockets and I missed having smaller photos in the pockets. So I'm back to weekly, actual pockets, and trying to remember to add dates & ephemera. I still plan to be flexible about which photos go where with the month. If I am short one week and need to steal from another week, I feel fine about that. Future me will not care or remember. One of my goals is to do more traditional pages, so I plan to try and do a couple each month. I love starting a new album.

Ok, so I’m somewhat shy and generally a bit of a lurker but I’m going to dive right in and join you guys, I hope that’s ok?! I enjoyed doing my December Daily so much, (even though it’s not quite finished!) This means I now want to scrap more of the everyday, rather than just major events. I’m not too sure that I’ll manage weekly, as I don’t have that much going on to fill each spread! So I think a loose weekly/monthly might be the way to go. I’d love to do 9 x 12 but have way too many 12 x 12 page protectors, so I’m going to start with 12 x 12 and might cut them down, I’ll see how it goes. Thanks for starting this thread sleepingbooty, I’m hoping it will keep me motivated to keep going this year!

Thanks for starting this thread sleepingbooty , I’m hoping it will keep me motivated to keep going this year! I personally finding scrapping my weekly PL much less of a project than doing the December Daily, so now that you've already done that you might find this a breeze! It just goes on longer, that's all. I don't have a ton going on, either, but still manage to fill up a weekly spread no problem. I do one 12x12 pocket page per week, and it's very easy to keep up to date this way. A 2-page spread per week, which is what I did in 2013, is way too much for me. It's funny, because even though every day seems the same and very routine, when I go back over the year in one of my old albums, I can see how things changed, whether suddenly for some stuff or gradually for other things. It's really cool. Even just seeing how much my teenage son changes from January to December is pretty wild, because he was 18 last year and I didn't expect him to change so much physically at that age. It's definitely worth giving it a try! Even if you don't complete the year, you'll still have a month or two documented which is more than most people.

Your cat looks soooo cute in that black and white photo! Those are the saddest cat eyes I've ever seen! Like, how could you not give that cat whatever it wanted when it looks at you like that! lasteve1 I love your pages! It was smart to start your year off with black and white portraits, I wish I had thought to do that. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who likes to put sunset photos in my album - I try to put a sunrise and sunset photo in there a few times a year, for some reason it just makes me happy.

Haha, I was holding a toy right over the camera. Also, those photos were taken about a week into January when I got a new iPhone with portrait mode. It’s not too late to take family portraits! In the past I’ve always just picked random recent photos of us or ones from a professional photo shoot during the year, but this time I decided to take specific ones for my title page and I’m happy I did. I love sunsets too! I never get up in time to see sunrise, ha. I always leave work at the same time each day (usually anyways) and in the winter it’s after dark and in the summer it’s still light, so I only see the sunset when the days are changing and it feels worth documenting because it only lasts a day or two. There are a few things that I try to remember to photo throughout the year, like the front of my house which itself doesn’t change usually but it’s fun to see the changing seasons in the yard. I took one for this week because there is 2+ feet of snow piled up!

Hi everyone,
I wandered over from NSBR and Project Life has me intrigued. I used to SB several years ago (maybe 10? Yikes time flies!). Soooooo, if I wanted to do this how would I get started? What do I need to know? Size recommendation? I wouldn't do 12x12. I was thinking the 9x12 was interesting but I'm going to have limited patience for dealing with getting stock of page protectors, if that's an issue.

There is no one way to do PL, so find a style and flow that works for you! Some people do a two page layout per week, some do events mostly, some people do monthly...whatever gets you motivated. Some people do lots of embellishments and others just slide cards and photos into the pockets and call it good. Becky Higgins sells products under the name “Project Life” but by no means has the corner on the market- pocket pages, documenter kits, it’s all the same thing. As far as size, 12x12 and 6x8 seem to be the most popular and easiest to find page protectors. 9x12 is exclusive (for the time being) to Studio Calico/Ali Edwards and shortages of different layouts of page protectors will be a problem. Some people simply cut down 12x12 to make 9x12 either sealing the edge with a sewing machine, washi tape or a Fuse tool. To get started you can buy core kit (be prepared for way more than you will probably actually use), a smaller kit, print your own cards, subscribe to a monthly kit club or buy cards off of here or one of the Facebook Project Life b/s/t groups.

I've been doing pocket page scrapbooking since April 2013. I rarely buy specific supplies, sorry Becky! I do like Project Life branded pocket pages. I prefer to use my stamps, cardstock, pp, and my Cricut. It's pretty photo heavy and veers towards a 70's photo album at times. Oops. I did get the SU Memories and More and one year I got the SU Christmas kit. I don't take a picture a day but I encourage myself to include life's little moments. I use 12 x 12 format. For the past few years I have split the year Jan-June and July-Dec. It gets heavy towards the end of the six months!
Right now I have my pockets for January planned (very, very rough sketches), and I have the pictures up to last week in a Persnickety Prints album.
And now for *drumroll* my first photo shared on the board .... Here is the preliminary work on my first page, ready for photos to be printed and included. I stamped some things and used the Cricut for a shoe and a drink cup. Fingers crossed for the photo to work. Constructive criticism welcomed!

I thought of one other thing to document. My daughter and me will randomly watch cheesy Lifetime movies or movies like that genre and make lots of jokes. We watched Deadly Switch on Netflix yesterday. It did not disappoint! I won't document all of them (hello Hallmark Christmas movies!) but I thought it would be a fun little tidbit.
