Corn..but I can’t ever get them to warm up without falling apart (I’ve tried all the methods and it still ends up falling apart). The best way to warm corn and flour tortillas is to have a gas flame on the stove burner. Put a stack of 4 tortillas directly on the gas flame (you can't do it on an electric stove) leave the stack of four for a few seconds then turn the entire stack over with tongs. Next take the top two tortillas and turn them over, then turn the entire stack over again. Again turn the top two tortillas over and then turn the entire stack over. Do this until all eight sides of the four tortillas have been warmed and then put them in one of those styrofoam warmers and do another stack. What you are doing is rotating and warming each side of each tortilla. The amount of toasted or softness is controlled by how long you leave it on the flame each time you turn them. I’m stuck with a electric stove

Flour tortillas for all things except enchiladas. I'm in the same boat on this!

Why do I have to make a choice? Can't I just have both? I'm not one to quibble much if I'm getting some great TexMex!

Both. I love a double-decker taco.

If the inside is delicious and it's covered in more delicious sauce, I just do not care. Oh how I miss real Mexican food!!
But I would pick flour.

I always thought I preferred a flour tortilla until I realized one day that you can have a corn tortilla without it being deep fried. I much prefer corn tortillas now!

For me, it depends on the type of taco. If it’s street tacos, I prefer corn tortillas. If it’s ground/fajita beef or chicken I prefer flour tortillas.

TBH, I don’t know enough about the difference to vote. I have eaten tacos, but I have no idea what sort of tortilla was used. Yellow or white?

I love both corn and flour tortillas depending on my mood - the abomination of a u shaped tortilla out of a box is a different story.

Authentic tacos should be made with corn tortillas. Anything else isn't authentic. Not that there is anything wrong with it, it's just not how we make tacos.
I miss having a gas burner. I would just warm them up right on the burner. Now I use a tortilla warmer. It's not the same.

While cleaning up after our tacofest yesterday DH asked me why I'd bought corn tortillas, so we know where he stands on the corn or flour tortilla debate. We had both kinds of tortillas available and the corn was definitely more popular. What's your favorite tortilla for street tacos? For street tacos? Always corn. For other tacos, usually corn, but flour are ok occasionally.

One of the things I love about 2peas is the diversity of experiences. I'm utterly gobsmacked that you can't identify the type of tortilla. No offense, truly , I just can't imagine it.

Corn is for tacos, taquitos or enchiladas. Flour is for buritos or flautas. The only exception is soft tacos from Taco Bell but they aren't real Mexican. Sorry So Cal girl and they have to be corn. We love tacos and Mexican food.

Flour, but I feel like it should be corn (more authentic). Too many Fritos in my lunch as a kid, I guess.

I don't do it in a stack of 4, but heating on the burner is how I learned to warm tortillas from my friend (who is Mexican) in middle school! When I learned to make tortillas from scratch in Mexico, we learned to heat them in a pan. Either way... corn for tacos! I learned this trick from a Mexican friend a couple years ago.

So Cal born and bred. Tacos are served in corn tortillas, burritos are served in flour tortillas. The exception would be if you went to Taco Bell which is not really Mexican. I can't wait to go home in June to have real Mexican Food!

I'm also a Southern California native and tacos were always eaten in corn tortillas. Soft corn tortillas that were fried to be a little crispy but not hard like taco shells. I also like crunchy Taco Bell tacos, they have their place in my life and were my biggest craving while I was pregnant.
I was so happy to move to a place where gas ranges were the norm so I could warm up my flour tortillas over a flame. Also how we did it growing up in California.

Interesting! I have never bought corn. Pretty sure I had it while traveling and did not pay too much attention. However, just yesterday I visited a Del Taco in our area (fairly new) and I ordered a chicken and fish soft taco (2 for $4) ummm whatever they use for the tortilla was gross... Now was that Corn??

Depends on the filling for me. Pork carnitas, corn. Grilled steak or chicken, flour but if corn is all that's available, I'll eat that too!

I legitimately had to read the question and poll 3 times because I was confused because I didn't know people ate tacos with flour tortillas! Well, at taco bell I know it's offered, but I don't know anyone who eats it.
We do soft corn for traditional tacos and fried corn for crispy American-style tacos.

Fajitas are served in flour, but that's not a taco.

street tacos are only corn tortillas , for burritos at home then flour. For fajitas at my favorite tex mex place it has to be flour because they make them fresh and bring them directly to your table,\.
