I have never heard the term "street tacos" before. I had to look it up. Until I first moved to Texas in 1981 I had never heard of tacos made with flour tortillas. If I'm having tacos then I want them to be crunchy corn tortillas (Old El Paso kind from the box). My kids prefer flour tortillas. I like the flour tortillas for breakfast burritos. My favorite tex-mex dish is flautas made with flour tortillas - they are fried so light and crispy - YUMMY!

My mom used to make us these incredible tacos with flour tortillias when I was a kid. I still love those, but tend to use whatever I happen to have when I make them myself. I like both.

I like both flour and corn tortillas! Basically I will take a taco/Mexican food any way that I can get it.

Corn. We keep flour tortillas at home for quesadillas for the kids, but I can't remember the last time I ate one. Almost all tacos in my area come on corn tortillas and they also rarely have cheese.

I cant get the corn tortillas to stay in one piece, so we use flour tortillas and corn hard shells. In the taco kit we picked up at Costco over the weekend, there were corn tortillas and they didnt fall apart. Those were pretty good. I do feel like flour tortillas are really gummy.

Question, how do you eat a taco in a flour tortilla? Since it's soft, I imagine the contents settle to the bottom meaning you'd have bites of just tortilla. So do you roll it?

Fresh corn tortillas don't usually fall apart, but if yours are a little old, try steaming them. Wrap tortillas in a damp paper towel and microwave for 20 sec to a minute depending on how many there are.

The best way to warm corn and flour tortillas is to have a gas flame on the stove burner. Put a stack of 4 tortillas directly on the gas flame (you can't do it on an electric stove) leave the stack of four for a few seconds then turn the entire stack over with tongs. Next take the top two tortillas and turn them over, then turn the entire stack over again. Again turn the top two tortillas over and then turn the entire stack over. Do this until all eight sides of the four tortillas have been warmed and then put them in one of those styrofoam warmers and do another stack. What you are doing is rotating and warming each side of each tortilla. The amount of toasted or softness is controlled by how long you leave it on the flame each time you turn them. I’m stuck with a electric stove [b Just use a dry hot skillet. It works pretty well

The flour street taco tortillas are fairly small and thick so you can easily use them in the same way as the corn version. Mission Foods now sells both versions: missionstreettacos.com/

corn: tacos, taquitos, enchiladas and quesadillas. To me tacos are never flour tortilla. So Cal as well. flour: burritos, quesadillas and as a side 'bread' to a plate of hot Mexican food like carnitas, chile verde, chile colorado etc. I never buy flour, we use corn for everything including our quesadillas. My favorite way to heat my corn tortillas is on a 'comal' or thin griddle. I always lightly oil the griddle with a paper towel first. It makes the tortillas nice and pliable and extra yummy (probably a little more caloric, too). I have never seen a corn tortilla fall apart, the only way it would is if it had been frozen first? Always buy fresh to avoid that.

I’ve tried dry hot non stick pan, cast iron, oil in a pan, wetting them then putting in pan (found that on YouTube), oven wrapped and unwrapped in foil, microwave..all ends with them falling apart. I gave up and just go out and eat lol

Hate corn tortillas. I'm sure homemade ones would be much better.

I am an equal opportunity taco fan. I do prefer white corn shells over yellow corn if I have the choice.

Dh and I took a tour of San Antonio where the Pioneer Flour Company is located. The tour guide told us that before Pioneer Flour, SA was a town with many folks with Mexican heritage and tortillas were made from corn. Pioneer Flour was a German company and Europeans had the belief that corn was fed to animals not people so they made tortillas from flour which was a grain eaten by people. Now I don't know if any of that is true but it was certainly interesting to hear. I prefer flour unless I'm eating queso (the normal kind) then I'll eat corn!

When I am in DD's (college) town, we usually go out for Taco Tuesday. Most times I have 2 tacos and when asked corn or flour I say one of each because I can't decide. So I'm no help to the poll. Indecisive here!

IDK where you live but there are lots of different options around. Of course going out is always good too! But I am curious if a different brand would help. Maybe ask your local restaurant which kind they buy.

This is a very important debate. And my choice is always flour over corn or hard shells any day. But, a great taco, regardless of its outer delivery system, is always eaten by me.
