While cleaning up after our tacofest yesterday DH asked me why I'd bought corn tortillas, so we know where he stands on the corn or flour tortilla debate. We had both kinds of tortillas available and the corn was definitely more popular. What's your favorite tortilla for street tacos?

To me, if it isn't in a nice crisp corn taco shell it isn't a taco. Meat/vegs in a soft flour tortilla is a lot of things other than a taco.

For me, it depends on the type of taco. If it’s street tacos, I prefer corn tortillas. If it’s ground/fajita beef or chicken I prefer flour tortillas.

Corn..but I can’t ever get them to warm up without falling apart (I’ve tried all the methods and it still ends up falling apart).

Corn tortillas are for tacos. Flour tortillas are for chimichangas or burritos. Burritos could be called tacos but really they are burritos,

If it's a bigger taco, like I make at home, I prefer the flour ones that you have to finish cooking. For little street tacos I like corn.

Flour and I make them myself - a total game changer for a taco you make at home. It smells like a restaurant when I'm cooking the tortillas.

I like hard corn (at home because they’re easier) and soft corn (at a restaurant/truck where they steam them well) for tacos. Anything else (burritos, enchiladas) I like flour. I still call all of it “tacos” with family and friends.

Corn all the way. Flour tortillas are just blah. And, Lord forbid if they get soggy as in a covered burrito. I very, very, very, seldom eat anything made with a flour tortilla.

Corn..but I can’t ever get them to warm up without falling apart (I’ve tried all the methods and it still ends up falling apart). The best way to warm corn and flour tortillas is to have a gas flame on the stove burner. Put a stack of 4 tortillas directly on the gas flame (you can't do it on an electric stove) leave the stack of four for a few seconds then turn the entire stack over with tongs. Next take the top two tortillas and turn them over, then turn the entire stack over again. Again turn the top two tortillas over and then turn the entire stack over. Do this until all eight sides of the four tortillas have been warmed and then put them in one of those styrofoam warmers and do another stack. What you are doing is rotating and warming each side of each tortilla. The amount of toasted or softness is controlled by how long you leave it on the flame each time you turn them.

Tacos come in a hard corn shell.
Soft tacos come in a tortilla.
Corn tortillas are usually used for tacos. Flour tortillas are used for fajitas, quesadillas, and burritos.

A month ago, I would have said flour. BUT in the last couple of weeks I have used corn tortillas for carnitas and some chicken tinga tacos this weekend. I am team corn now!

I feel like you're asking me to choose which of my two children I like better. Like children, it depends on the day. Taco Bell? Crunchy. Real tacos or tacos someone made? 50/50. Rocco's Tacos? Definitely flour.

I don't do it in a stack of 4, but heating on the burner is how I learned to warm tortillas from my friend (who is Mexican) in middle school! When I learned to make tortillas from scratch in Mexico, we learned to heat them in a pan. Either way... corn for tacos!

I prefer flour - corn have a weird texture I don’t really like but if someone hands me a taco in a corn tortilla you can bet I’ll eat it anyway! #teamtaco

Who cares it’s the insides that are important
Also I guess it depends on wether it’s soft tacos or hard. I’ve never seen a hard taco shell that wasn’t corn around here so you have to make your own if that’s what you want.

TBH, I don’t know enough about the difference to vote. I have eaten tacos, but I have no idea what sort of tortilla was used.

Usually corn. Flour only for fajitas and then only if they're freshly made.
