Meh. I think it would have to be something actually heinous or maybe treasonous. Some of the rumors also have to do with age. But I think with his political leanings being shown to be homosexual could be catastrophic for him. Either way, I don’t care. His actions are inexcusable. A few years ago I would have wholeheartedly agreed, but seeing the leeway given to President Pussygrabber I am not so sure anymore. “If *you* still give *us* what we want, we can excuse and reason away just about anything” is my current assessment of the GOP from the voters all the way to the top.

link Pete Buttigieg... ”The future of work on the era of automation is a subject calling for much more attention. In South Bend we’re working on empowering residents and workers for the future.” Hmm, he keeps saying things like this and the stuff in the other post I may have to move him up my list. He seems normal, like a normal person with some very reasonable and decent ideas with possible good outcomes.

linkFrom The Atlantic.. ”These Are the Americans Who Live in a Bubble”From the article. ”In general, the proportion of Americans who seem to live in fully homogenous communities is small: In terms of identities like race, religion, and partisan affiliation, only one-fifth to one-quarter of people usually said they seldom or never encounter people unlike themselves. But Americans also believe they are extremely divided along lines of identity: 77 percent said the country is divided over religion. Eighty-three percent said it’s divided over race and ethnicity. And fully 91 percent of respondents said the United States is divided by politics. Many respondents pointed to political parties and the media as two major causes of all this discord, with stark differences along partisan lines: 85 percent of Republicans said the media is pulling the country apart, versus 54 percent of Democrats. Since the country’s founding, Americans have had to navigate conflicting impulses towards tolerance and a desire to build communities with thick, often homogeneous, cultures. Some forms of this are indisputably ugly, such as racial segregation; others may be neutral or immensely enriching, like tight-knit religious communities. Americans today are sharply divided over the value of multiculturalism: In the survey, 54 percent of Democrats said they prefer the U.S. to be made up of people from a wide variety of religions, compared to 12 percent of Republicans. By contrast, 40 percent of Republicans said they’d prefer a nation mostly made up of Christians, compared to 14 percent of Democrats. Perhaps more than any other, this was the fracture line that animated the 2016 election. Even the iconography, from the Trump campaign’s “Make America Great Again” trucker hats to the Clinton campaign’s forward-pointing “H” and “Stronger Together” slogan reflected this divide, said Jones. “As certain groups reach a critical mass, I think it throws Americans as a whole back into a conversation about affirming these principles [of pluralism] or not,” he said. “If you think culture war today, it’s less about gay marriage and abortion than it is about American identity.” Americans aren’t fully in control of the amount of diversity to which they’re exposed. Some isolation is a matter of geography and class: People living in rural Vermont, the whitest state in America, may not have many opportunities to meet people of another race, for example. Even self-segregation may not be malicious: “It’s hard to spend time with people who are not like you,” Mason said. People may not want to argue about deeply held political beliefs or explain their religious dietary needs to strangers. “At the most basic level, the place that prejudice comes from is not an evil place,” she said. “It’s just that it’s easier to spend time with people who are the same.” And yet, the choices Americans make every day—about where to live or go to church or send a kid to school, about whose book club to join or who to invite over for dinner—influences the way they see the world, and especially how they see politics. When people largely surround themselves with sameness, they may find themselves left shouting across perceived divides, unable to see their reflection in anyone who stands on the other side.“

”President Barack Obama gets an amazing reception just before Duke vs UNC”
The video shows him walking among folks, big grin on his face, touching hands with as many people as he can. And the folks eager to be touched.
Something you will never see with trump.

"A LT in the US Coast Guard was arrested this week for drug and gun charges. It looked like a run of the mill case until the detention memo filed yesterday. He had a hit list, contacts with white supremacists, guns, and, again, was an Coastie assigned to HQ."
I heard about this on MSNBC yesterday evening... how scary is this?!? And why haven't we heard anything about it, do you think? Could it possibly be because he's NOT MUSLIM, or NOT an MS-13 gang member? hmmm?? Domestic terrorists aren't a *real* thing, right? They're just something made up by the liberal media to attack right-wing conservatives. /s
I'm sure sooner or later we'll hear about him just being a 'troubled' person, or some such nonsense... "nothing to see here, folks- move along..."

linkProPublica.. “Despite Trump’s Tough Talk About Migrant Smugglers, He’s Undercut Efforts to Stop Them”“ICE has shifted manpower and money away from more complex investigations to support the administration’s push to arrest, detain and deport undocumented immigrants. In his quest to build a border wall, President Donald Trump has warned of jobs stolen from American workers, suburbs terrorized by criminal aliens, and desperate migrant caravans headed north. Lately, though, he has found a favorite new target in the “ruthless coyotes” and “vicious cartels” that smuggle migrants into the United States. “Tolerance for illegal immigration is not compassionate — it is actually very cruel,” Trump said in his State of the Union speech. “Smugglers use migrant children as human pawns to exploit our laws and gain access to our country.” Yet Trump’s “zero tolerance” immigration policies have made America’s historically weak anti-smuggling efforts even weaker. Over the past two years, as smuggling networks have thrived, the Department of Homeland Security has shifted money and manpower away from more complex investigations to support the administration’s all-out push to arrest, detain and deport illegal immigrants. Hundreds of agents have been temporarily reassigned to low-level enforcement tasks like checking businesses for undocumented workers or locating foreigners who overstayed their visas. Some investigators’ travel has been curtailed, officials said; others have lost funds to pay informants. In the first full fiscal year of Trump’s presidency, the number of new human smuggling cases launched by Homeland Security Investigations, or HSI, the investigative arm of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, dropped from 3,920 to 1,671, a decline of almost 60 percent. Even more than in the past, the agency has focused its anti-smuggling efforts on low-level “coyotes” caught in the act of sneaking migrants into the country or transporting them inside the United States, current and former officials said. The Human Smuggling Cell, a special intelligence unit set up within ICE to support more ambitious migrant-smuggling efforts, has dwindled to less than half the staff it had in 2016.” Translattion: Instead of making it better, trump has made it worse. A familiar theme with the trump administration.

linkFrom the Atlantic. “The Impossible Job of Speaking Truth to Trump”From the article.. “How do you offer intelligence to a president who’s not interested—and keep your job? Dan Coats was nervous. Ahead of his very first threat briefing to Congress nearly two years ago, he was having trouble keeping straight what he could say in the unclassified part and what he had to save for the classified portion. He had retired from the Senate just months before—now he’d been thrust into an entirely different kind of job as the director of national intelligence. In the words of one former colleague, who requested anonymity to speak candidly, he was a “fish out of water,” horrified that he might get something wrong. What he wasn’t worried about, this person said, was the kind of conflict with the president that erupted after his most recent threat briefing this past January, when he and other intelligence officials gave testimony on issues like North Korea, Iran, and Russia that contradicted statements Trump has made. Trump’s lingering anger about that testimony, ahead of his upcoming North Korea summit, has now revived speculation that Trump might fire Coats. But what Coats wanted to do two years ago, and by many accounts has faithfully tried to do since, was represent the views of the intelligence community to a president not always inclined to hear them. That is at once the key requirement of his job and potentially the one that puts him in the most peril. Coats thus has one of the most precarious positions in an administration where few jobs are safe. He oversees an intelligence workforce that prides itself on the spin-free presentation of facts, for a president prone to punishing purveyors of unpleasant truth. He is a lifelong politician in what’s supposed to be an apolitical profession, trying to protect his workforce from the political attacks of his own boss. Yet Coats is, for now, one of the last national-security officials remaining from the original Cabinet Trump appointed, despite differences with the president that sometimes spill into public view. That’s partly because he really tries to stay out of public view.“

Has he gone off the deep end? All he seems to do anymore is quite the Bible.

He warned that an end to the decades-old INF Treaty would signal problems for “all countries.” "Our American colleagues are confident they defeated everything and everyone in the Cold War and can continue to impose their will on European countries like they did before, and so they have decided to leave the treaty,” Tolstoy said, Russia’s Tass news agency reported. “I would like to point out that this move will make life more dangerous for people in every European country.”

"nothing to see here, folks- move along..." But who is Trump Tweeting about today? Hollywood celebrity Jussie Smollett (a POC), with added whining about the "tens of millions of people you [Smollett] insulted with your racist and dangerous comments!? #MAGA"
This reminds me of when *unarmed* James Shaw, Jr. (also a POC) saved lives by taking down a (white) male armed with an assault rifle who'd already killed people in a Waffle House, yet Shaw was publicly ignored by Trump. (Meaning, there was no Tweeting or mention during his Fox gabfests on the lawn on his way to Maralago.) Supposedly, there was a private phone call a month after the fact, after criticism that Trump had not acknowledged Shaw's brave, life-saving actions. Of course, there was no condemnation by Trump of the shooter or, heaven forbid, his access to his weapon, at any point.
Trump wastes no time criticizing POC, yet keeps very quiet about the transgressions of white folks (unless they're known Dems/Libs), even white folks who deserve NO ONE's loyalty.

FiveThirtyEight.. “Within just over a day after announcing his 2020 presidential candidacy, Bernie Sanders raised $6 million from more than 225,000 donors, according to his campaign.” So what? IKR I used to just not care about Sanders. Now I really don't like him.
He only wants the DNC for their functional party machinery because the Independents can't carry him to the presidency. He jumps back & forth (between I & D), holds absolutely no loyalty for the Democrats, yet whines that the DNC isn't loyal to him and "rigs" things against him. Well, he's not a Democrat, and he doesn't deserve the party's loyalty, IMO.
He gets off on the power to divide the party, which he certainly did in 2016 and will now do again in 2020. He withheld his support for HRC till the last minute, wasn't very gracious, and certainly wasn't real/believable enough in encouraging the Berners to vote for his adopted party's candidate. In other words, he sulked, and it cost us. I won't forgive him for that.

Miami Herald...
”A judge ruled Thursday that federal prosecutors — among them, U.S. Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta — broke federal law when they signed a plea agreement with a wealthy, politically connected sex trafficker and concealed it from more than 30 of his underage victims.
U.S. District Judge Kenneth A. Marra, in a 33-page opinion, said that the evidence he reviewed showed that Jeffrey Epstein had been operating an international sex operation in which he and others recruited underage girls — not only in Florida — but from overseas, in violation of federal law.
“Epstein used paid employees to find and bring minor girls to him.,’’ wrote Marra, who is based in Palm Beach County. “Epstein worked in concert with others to obtain minors not only for his own sexual gratification, but also for the sexual gratification of others.’’
Instead of prosecuting Epstein under federal sex trafficking laws, Acosta, then the U.S. attorney in Miami, helped negotiate a non-prosecution agreement that gave Epstein and his co-conspirators immunity from federal prosecution. Epstein, who lived in a Palm Beach mansion, was allowed to quietly plead guilty in state court to two prostitution charges and served just 13 months in the county jail. His accomplices, some of whom have never been identified, were never charged.”
Again another trump appointee that has “corruption” associated with him.
