Well, to be fair, I don't want Albert Einstein to fly my plane either...him being dead and all that. Takes the term skeleton service to a whole new level. *snort*

linkABC... ”Trump administration's budget proposal revives a widely panned idea that some food stamp benefits could be sent in a delivery box—one of many changes advocates say would undermine programs intended to help the most vulnerable.” From the article.. ”USDA's budget mentions the "America's Harvest Box" program, which was first mentioned last year as a way to deliver some food stamp benefits to recipients through a "Blue Apron-style" delivery. The proposal was widely criticized by critics who said it put a huge burden on states who would have to implement the program and would take away recipients' options to buy fresh food with their benefits and provide less healthy processed foods.” Why do some think it’s ok to treat the poor like this? Send them a box of food that they didn’t choose and that they have to be happy with what they get.

Well isn't this guy a charmer.
He's apparently upset that "liberal scum" are invading places like Texas and potentially changing voting patterns.
Nah, dude, the insane far-right lean of Texas' top Republicans is what has changed our voting patterns. If you wanted to keep Texas red, you should get rid of Abbott, Patrick, Paxton, Cruz, Gohmert and a bunch of others. But since you didn't, we're going to get rid of them for you.

Send them a box of food that they didn’t choose and that they have to be happy with what they get. We've been on Foodstamps for a few years now. DH has dietary limitations (heart disease, A-fib... high blood pressure, high cholesterol, sleep apnea, emphysema/copd, bladder cancer, type 2 diabetes.......), and so do I (migraines, etc), so this is the most insensitive, stupid thing I've heard of. Imagine Trump eating something he didn't order? ?? I can't!!!!!!! They've cut many people's Foodstamps amount in 1/2 in the past few months and are making it almost impossible to change it. NOTHING has changed in anyone's situations (financial), and the cost of living keeps rising, so WHY would they suddenly cut it in half? I've heard from so many cruel people who say, "Foodstamps is a benefit that isn't supposed to be your ONLY source of food...." That's lovely, but if you're disabled and only have your SS to live on (and you've gotten taken for everything with your divorce), then please tell me how you should be able to live without government help (until you're able to change things)?? Cruel!

I know Trump's CPAC speech is kinda old news now, but I just read an analysis of it, and this jumped out at me: "On display were 10 distinct personalities of Trump that encapsulate his unorthodox presidency and reveal his strengths and vulnerabilities as he begins his quest for reelection. It was the presidency as Vaudeville act — the commander in chief at Carnegie Hall."and someone on Progressive Sirius radio said something similar yesterday-- whoever he was, he grew up in Trump Village (? is that a real place?)... anyway, he would see DT as a teenager, and said he was an awkward teen wearing a suit, with funny hair, even then-- and the person said in his opinion, DT is a failed comedian. It really does seem like he wants to be a comedian (or other BIG Hollywood "STAR" persona), the way he loves the attention, and craves the attention from his 'adoring fans' of supporters. ...I mean, everything he does points to that- who else would autograph a Bible, for gosh sakes?!? As much as he derides the liberal stars and those awful Hollywood types, he wants to BE one of them. PERFECT!! I've been saying this for quite a while now. He's always been awkward and ugly (sorry); the outsider trying to look in at the cool people....... He DOES have an old-timer schtick that DH and I notice--much like Henny Youngman and comedians of that ilk (you're probably too young to remember them, but we do!). He thinks he's hilarious, handsome and a genius. Seriously!!!!!!!!! And no one's going to tell him anything different!

”Wow. Downing complains about the media attention that's been paid to Manafort, and says: "If not for a short stint as a campaign manager in a presidential election, I don't think we'd be here today."
Maybe he’s there because he broke the law.

”Manafort makes a last-ditch appeal: "Your honor, I will be 70 years old in a few weeks. My wife is 66. I am her primary caregiver...this case has taken everything from me already. Please let my wife and I be together."
🎻
The man has pleaded guilty to multiple counts of crimes and we should care that he is 70? I mean really? If he wanted to spend his golden years with his wife, then he shouldn’t have broken the law.

”Judge Jackson said "the no collusion mantra is simply" a red herring that has no bearing on his sentence and she added, "it's not clear it's even accurate" given that the special counsel probe is still ongoing and no report has been issued.”

”Republican Senators are overthinking tomorrow’s vote on National Emergency. It is very simply Border Security/No Crime - Should not be thought of any other way. We have a MAJOR NATIONAL EMERGENCY at our Border and the People of our Country know it very well!”
If there is a MAJOR NATIONAL EMERGENCY, it’s because trump created it, so I’m thinking this vote will go a long way setting guidelines of what a real MAJOR NATIONAL EMERGENCY is. It’s sad that this has to be done.

USA is the only country where these planes are still allowed to fly. In Europe they were grounded yesterday. Surely it has nothing to with the fact that Boeing has given Trump money. 🤨

I heard his statement; he actually sounded mostly coherent for once! They probably told him to stick to the prepared remarks (or else he wouldn't get his Burger King later )... he only started rambling a bit near the end. Apparently Canada had said they wouldn't allow the planes to fly, or to even fly over their air space. So even though SW, the pilots, and someone else (I can't remember who) still said those planes as a whole are safe, they decided to ground them.

ACLU: Officials set up 'trap' to arrest immigrants at legal status interviewsBy Sonia Moghe and David Shortell, CNN Updated 7:45 PM ET, Tue August 14, 2018 (CNN)A Boston-area US Citizenship and Immigration Services office appears to have been coordinating with local ICE officials to arrest undocumented immigrant spouses married to US citizens when they appeared at government offices to interview for legal status, according to newly released internal emails. The documents, included in a court filing made in an immigration case brought by the ACLU, which is working with the law firm WilmerHale in Massachusetts, show officials from the Boston-area offices of ICE and US Citizenship and Immigration Services, the agency responsible for processing legal immigration requests, discussed scheduling interviews with immigrants at times that were convenient for ICE agents who would be waiting to arrest them -- and in some cases initiate the deportation process. The ACLU calls the moves a "trap" in their filing and highlights emails that show ICE officials asking to spread the interviews over time to avoid media scrutiny and for logistical reasons, and, in one case, requesting USCIS delay an immigrant's meeting by 15 minutes because ICE agents were "getting a late start." ** The emailsAn email from Oct 6, 2017, shows a Boston-area USCIS employee emailing an ICE employee a list of people applying for relatives to become US citizens and flagging cases that "appear to have final orders of removal." "My (field office director) asked that I reach out to you with this information and if need be coordinate the interview scheduling so they are not all scheduled at once," the USCIS employee writes. "If you could let us know if any are of interest that would be most appreciated." An employee with ICE's Enforcement and Removal Operations Boston office replied to the email on October 18, 2017, indicating the office's "level of interest" in each case, saying "the cases with criminal convictions have the highest priority" and asked for those people's interviews not to be scheduled "all at one time as it is not only a strain on our ability to transport and process several arrests at once, but it also has the potential to be a trigger for negative media interest, as we have seen in the past."in Arrested while trying to become a citizenThe documents were filed Monday as part of a Massachusetts federal case involving Lilian Calderon, 30, who was taken into ICE custody in January when she and her husband went into for a marriage interview so that she could begin the process of trying to become a lawful permanent resident. Calderon is a Guatemalan immigrant who was brought to the US when she was three years old. She is now married to a US citizen, and the couple has two children. The couple visited a USCIS office in Rhode Island near their home and just after sitting down for her interview, she was "unexpectedly detained by ICE," the complaint alleges. Calderon had been subject to a final order of removal since the age of 15, after her father's asylum application was denied. Her DACA application was also denied in 2017 because, according to the complaint, "she had not provided sufficient evidence of her continuous presence in the United States." ** More at link: www.cnn.com/2018/08/14/politics/ice-immigrants-trap-lawsuit-aclu/index.htmlLocally there have been stories about this happening.... It really is happening... People try to do the right thing and they get scooped up... Maybe illegally. And then we have this happening! Apparently ICE officer signing warrants on their own or as directed by supervisors, forging supervisors signatures in at least 5 southern states.... There are emails confirming some of this. Oxley, the officer below did sign without direction, I guess more wrong than others... ICE supervisors sometimes skip required review of detention warrants, emails showBy Bob Ortega, CNN Investigates Updated 7:03 AM ET, Wed March 13, 2019 (CNN)Brent Oxley, an Immigration and Customs Enforcement deportation officer in Little Rock, Arkansas, was happy in his work, which he says "gave me the feeling that I was helping protect my country." A big part of his job: Look through rosters from local jails for people who might be deportable, ask for them to be held for ICE to pick up, then go get them. But last May, ICE fired Oxley, for a variety of charges that included forging his supervisor's signature on arrest warrants for undocumented immigrants. Federal immigration law requires each warrant to be signed by an authorized supervisor. By signing them himself, an ICE administrator wrote to Oxley, he had exposed ICE to the possibility of "numerous unlawful detention lawsuits" over illegal arrests, had they not reissued the warrants. Oxley challenged his termination, convinced he had not been alone in skipping the warrant-review process, which could be inconvenient when supervisors weren't in the office and the 48-hour time limit to release people was nearing its end. And he turned up evidence he was right. More at link: www.cnn.com/2019/03/13/us/ice-supervisors-dont-always-review-deportation-warrants-invs/index.html
