Face The Nation... ”When asked about military construction projects that could be cut, including a middle school in Kentucky, @lindseygrahamsc says, “I would say it's better for the middle school kids in Kentucky to have a secure border...right now we've got a national emergency on our hands.” Definition of a dumbass. Holy crap

You have no interest in having an honest discussion. The one purpose when you and certain others post on the political threads is not to have a discussion about the issues but to be a shit disturber/and or derail the thread into petty insults. Unfortunately when you and others show up, you find willing partners to aid you in your goal by engaging with you instead of just ignoring you and the others who are less then honest with their reason for posting on political threads. The willing partners in these dishonest discussions makes it tough for those on the other side who make an attempt to have some sort of honest discussion. Instead of actually looking at what they are saying, they automatically respond as they would to your dishonest attempt at a discussion. An example of that was the posts yesterday about the Violence Against Women’s Act. lindas pointed out, with an article, a specific tweet was not quite factual. The responses she received were shades of Gia and how she manipulated and cherrypicked information to make one of her “valid” points. We certainly didn’t like it when she did it, but we are resorting to it when someone challenges what we want to believe. Now here is a guaranteed fact. This post is going to piss off folks on both sides. So be it. You are not correct here. My response was in response to information on the actual bill, and not as you assume in this post of yours. Not once did I negate Lindas post. So don’t be lumping me in with your assumptions. And it seems perfectly a-okay that you engage and respond and even go round and round with everyone without being hand slapped... I disagree with your assessment of your response about how you responded about the Violence Against Women’s Act. i never said I wasn’t one of the willing partners. But I’m seeing how pointless and destructive it is. Isn’t there a saying that doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different outcome is the sign of insanity or madness or something like that? What do you expect to accomplish? I mean really? I personally can see no up side to it. And as hard as it is to ignore the less then honest posters on the political threads, I’m really going to try. By the way. The Violence Of Women Act is only funded through February. Then they will vote to extend it through September. At which time the Democrats hope to have their version of the expanded act. IMO, with this toxic Congress, they should have secured the funding for however long that funding bill they just signed was for, work on the expansion and roll it out it out as the 2020 elections are heating up to force the Republicans and trump to support it. Now, IMO, they have left it vulnerable . In other words you can’t trust the Republicans to do what you think they will or should do so stack the deck in your favor.

”Update: there are now *221 protests* against Trump’s fake emergency now planned for President’s day, in 43 states. Help spread the word!”
You have to give trump credit, he sure knows how to bring people together.

You can disagree all you want, however you’d still be incorrect. It’s clear who I responded to, and who I did not. Nor did I negate the post you mention. You feel free to assume what you want. I read (NPR/WAPO) as to the funding, and after further reading, it is correct, that many programs under this bill ARE funded through the 2019 fiscal year. I have since discovered that some programs for this bill that are funded through DOJ (only) are the few that are still up in the air/tied to the budget. And no, I don’t think that the democrats were wrong to pull the bill from this battle considering what they are trying to add/change—it’s important. Finally, Funny that you don’t see your epic hand slapping post doing exactly what you say you’re not doing/not going to do...and doing just that! And hand slapping others for the same as you’re doing. 🙄🙄🙄

I'm not gaslighting, I'm sharing how I see it. If you want to discuss the issues I brought up then go ahead, but swipes and digs are not a discussion. We certainly didn’t like it when she did it, but we are resorting to it when someone challenges what we want to believe. Now here is a guaranteed fact. This post is going to piss off folks on both sides. So be it. Oh, I definitely was looking to have an honest discussion. Nothing I said was gas lighting it was honest discussion. I truly did try to say what I thought without any unkindness, which I thought I did. I reread what I wrote and I can see where one paragraph can be seen as snarky and I could have worded that better. The rest are based on what has actually been said, so it's not snarky to repeat your take on things. That being said, it's more than a little dishonest to dismiss conversation because of snark coming from one point of view with all the snark and contempt thrown about here from those on the other point of view.

AOC’s points are closer to what most Americans think vs what trump is doing. The only radical shift is that of trump using his presidency to turn America into an authoritarian state.
And yes, you are gaslighting.
“At some point they stopped wanting abortion to be "safe, legal and rare" and started championing that it's okay to use abortion as an alternative to pregnancy prevention.”
1. No, no “they” did not. First of all, abortion IS legal, no matter the reason. There is not any who are “championing that it’s okay to use abortion as an alternative to pregnancy prevention” the only ones pushing that all over are the conservatives/republicans and solely for political leverage. No, absolutely not have Democrats stopped wanting abortions to be safe—Republicans trying to shut down and take away women’s rights are the responsible party for them not being safe.
It’s a lie. Peas on this board have certainly NOT made a case for abortion = birth control.
Conservatives use that claim to gaslight. It sound good with their base. They do it to shame women, even though she has that legal right.
“At some point they stopped calling for deportation of criminal illegal immigrants and decided instead that they need sanctuary cities to feel safe from deportation. And started dismissing criminal acts committed by illegal immigrants by touting the fact that more citizens commit crimes than illegal immigrants do.”
2. No, no “they” have not. This is nothing more than more gaslighting Republican rhetoric. Democrats have not stopped calling for criminal illegal immigrants from being deported. That is a ridiculous lie perpetuated by the Dickhead in office and his minions.
And another outright lie—Sanctuary cities support those who have been in this country for years upon years, DACA, dreamers...a place for them to continue to be productive members of the community SAFE from the inhuman and illegal policies of this current administration. A place for these immigrants to continue to seek asylum—a legal right). They were put in place to help the communities—not to harbor criminals. (You really need a better education on these topics.)
No one is dismissing criminal acts made by illegal immigrants by touting...
They are dismissing the lies and bullshit that this administration lies about daily. You really need to look into the actual facts vs what trumpy boy and his minions state because they are EASILY proven as untrue and big fat whopper lies.
Trump touts the MAGA bullshit—but he doesn’t stand by it or do a single thing to take care of our own, especially when our own homegrown terrorists and murderers. Look how many people are killed at the hands of legal Americans. That’s not dismissing anything, that is a fact.
More dishonest gaslighting by trump to whip his base (you’ve obviously fallen for it and threw facts out the window and replaced those with his lies)
“At some point they stopped calling for a border wall and started calling a border wall racist.”
4. Yes most Americans are against wasting our taxpayers money for a wall in which he just wants his name on as a monument. We were against it when he insisted and promised that Mexico was going to pay for it.
Trump has lied every single day about this wall—from who’s paying for it to the stats and stories he makes up as he goes along.
Trump’s reasons for the wall have been clear all along as to why HE wants the wall—JUST LOOK AT WHAT HE, himself says about the Mexican people. Trump is a bigoted, unapologetic racist. He wants the wall to keep out brown people.
“At some point they abandoned the idea that you counter offensive speech with more speech in favor of using the label "offensive" as a weapon to shut down any speech they don't agree with.”
5. Nope. Nope. And nope. Republicans currently have the market on this one. Look at trump’s daily tweets and attacks on those who reveal his lies, who don’t agree with him, or who stand for freedom of speech and press. Look what trump does and says. Conservatives use what you posted as a way to feign victimization—poor me the liberals are mean and just won’t do what I want it believe what I say no matter how crazy. The peas here have encouraged to say what you want even if it’s different, but to also be prepared to be called out on lies or subjected to facts and the truth. (Which some conservatives just cannot stand to have happen)
“At some point they stopped wanting equal opportunity and now demand equal outcome.”
6. Nope. Just more gaslighting from you. This statement is absolutely not true or a point being made by the Democrats. Look at other sources other than Fox News—you’ll see democrats fighting daily for the rights and freedoms of those who are stepped and shit on by dangerous, disingenuous, self serving Republican rhetoric and principles.

And is the margin of error the standard +/-3? Even if the margin of error is a standard +/-3, trump is still down. I guess that depends on where you put the plus or minus sign. Polls are an unreliable source as we saw in 2016. The night before the election Emerson had Clinton winning the electoral vote 353 to 215.

linkHere are two tweets from trump along with a background story from Newsweek. Read the tweets carefully and you will see why this man should never have been elected president. The man is fundamentally unfit to be president. From yesterday. ”The United States is asking Britain, France, Germany and other European allies to take back over 800 ISIS fighters that we captured in Syria and put them on trial. The Caliphate is ready to fall. The alternative is not a good one in that we will be forced to release them........” ”The U.S. does not want to watch as these ISIS fighters permeate Europe, which is where they are expected to go. We do so much, and spend so much - Time for others to step up and do the job that they are so capable of doing. We are pulling back after 100% Caliphate victory!” From Newsweek.. “DONALD TRUMP DEMANDS EUROPEAN ALLIES TAKE BACK 800 CAPTURED ISIS FIGHTERS OR 'WE WILL BE FORCED TO RELEASE THEM'From the article... “President Donald Trump in a tweet Saturday night called on European nations to “take back” 800 fighters captured from the Islamic State militant group (ISIS) and put them on trial, warning that the U.S. would be withdrawing from the battle after its "100% Caliphate victory." Trump also suggested that the U.S. would "be forced to release them" as an alternative if the U.S.'s European allies did not take control of the prisoners. In a set of tweets, the president said: "The United States is asking Britain, France, Germany and other European allies to take back over 800 ISIS fighters that we captured in Syria and put them on trial. The Caliphate is ready to fall. The alternative is not a good one in that we will be forced to release them. The U.S. does not want to watch as these ISIS fighters permeate Europe, which is where they are expected to go. We do so much, and spend so much - Time for others to step up and do the job that they are so capable of doing. We are pulling back after 100% Caliphate victory!" The message comes as U.S.-backed Syrian forces are poised to seize control of ISIS’s last stronghold, the town of Baghuz, which is on the Syrian side of the border with Iraq. Jiya Furat said the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) had cornered remaining ISIS fighters in a neighbourhood of Baghuz. “In the coming few days, in a very short time, we will spread the good tidings to the world of the military end of Daesh,” he told Reuters, using the Arabic acronym for ISIS. Trump had on Friday tweeted that the defeat of ISIS would be announced in the next 24 hours, but Furat said that fighters were holding civilians as human shields, slowing efforts to retake the town. With the Caliphate on the brink of collapse, hundreds of civilians and ISIS fighters have surrendered themselves to SDF forces. Among the civilians to have fled the town is British teenager Shamima Begum, 19, who is pregnant with the child of an ISIS fighter and was found by a Sunday Times reporter last week in al-Hawl refugee camp in northeastern Syria. She fled East London to join the Caliphate when she was 15 years old, along with two other teen girls. She has now expressed a desire to return to Britain. “

He wants violence treated as a disease. OK, so when that next 'peacefull' demonstration gets out of hand and results in violent distraction of property is he saying that all those people now have a disease. What exactly does he want researched based, what am I missing.

I think the 2020 election will be similar to the 2018 election and sway in the Democrats' favor. Parties change power after people get fed up and I think there are plenty of fed up people. I think it will also depend upon the investigations' (plural) results and if there are any big issues that happen around that time (like children being separated from their family). Lots of things could go wrong for either party.
