I've heard this about CVS when I worked in a Drs office in PA. They make up their own rules and say it's the law, when clearly it's not (or it wasn't there, anyway). It might be their policy, but it's not necessarily the law. I avoid CVS.

I had so many run-in’s with one particular Pharmacist, I finally lodged a complaint. It takes a lot, and I do mean a lot for me to do that, this is their livelihood. And switched to another CVS that was out of the way, forcing me to find something to do while I waited for them to fill my script. Which wasn’t good for my thighs, cause there was a local bakery right by it that I somehow tended to end up at. I was beyond thrilled when the military contract went back to Walgreens. Just seeing the CVS I was forced to use for a couple years makes me ragey, then damn thankful I’m done with them

He's only allowed a specific amount of meds in a 45-day period and he cannot get a 'script filled even one minute too early lest he ends up with 1 pill more than he should have in that 45 days. It's nuts.

My local CVS refused to give me more than 14 ambien at a time. They said it was against the law. Not true. I went to several other pharmacies and asked them if it was against the law and they said no. But they wouldn't give me any ambien even though my doctor wrote a separate prescription for it, because the CVS has filled the 14. My doctor was flabbergasted I had so much trouble getting the ambien. What you guys say here is scaring me. So I went back to my original pharmacy and they give me my 30 per month. And I can get it a few days early which helps me keep a few extra on hand. If they ban ambien I will die. CVS tells me the same thing! Though it is 15 in 25 days. It isn’t my insurance company, because I have asked to pay out of pocket. That’s when they said it was the “law,” yet I haven’t been able to find this law (which could exist - I just haven’t found it). Exactly! I tried to pay out of pocket as well. They would let me have 15 ambien at a time. In other words, they want me to come back every two weeks. This particular CVS also acted like I was a drug seeker when I asked them when I can refill my ativan. AND they will yell my prescription name across the pharmacy, like everyone in the store has the right to know what meds I am on. My plan was to call and complain to the manager once I got all my meds at my original pharmacy but never did.

I have a medical marijuana card and for me if they required a drug test of course I'd fail-I have THC in my system because of this and it lasts for a long time in your system. If it is within your Rx amount, it should be no problem. In Maryland (I don't know if this is the same in all states) a doctor does not prescribe medical marijuana so there isn't a certain RX amount. A patient goes through the Medical Marijuana laws in Maryland to obtain a MMJ (Medical Marijuana card) including seeing a doctor who goes over medical records and then it is up to that patient to go to the MMJ pharmacies and with the help of research and the help of the people at the pharmacies choose products to help them with their medical problems. The only amount stipulation I have is that I can't buy more than 36 grams of THC in one month (I think it's a month). So far I use about 1 gram a month. It depends on how many migraines I get and what other pain I'm having.

I was worried about the Ambien issues, but I picked up my refill today without having to sign contracts or having the number of pills limited. My doctors office's computer system has been down for a week , so they didn't get the refill request from the pharmacy yesterday, but thankfully I was able to get a hold of someone in the office this afternoon and they called it in for me. I hope next month will be fine too. **knocking on wood**

I have to get a consent for vaginal delivery for every single woman who comes in labor. That is so bad, it's flat out ridiculous! I can't naturally fall asleep until 4 or 5 AM. I'm right there with ya, sleeping so much better in the early morning than evening. Do you think part of the problem with the sleep pills are that people do such stupid things when they take them? I could see that as a reason that they need to be controlled. There are some wild stories out there. I have a friend who took Ambien and woke up to find that she had a dozen mystery packages coming her way from Amazon. She decided to wait and see, treating the packages as gifts, since she had no clue what she sleep-bought. One of the things was a case or two of tuna fish. She also bought some nice hoodies in a rainbow of colors. At least she was able to have a good sense of humor about it. Scares the bejeebers outta me though. I can imagine waking up 400 miles away with no clue how I got there!

re: my friend who I mentioned above just had a gallbladder removal, then two days later, they removed a stone from her common bile duct. ( I wonder why those surgeries weren't done at the same time, but....aside from that...) Maybe some of you can tell me---after those surgeries, would TYLENOL normally be enough? I just realized maybe my anger is unjustified I had gallbladder surgery without complications and needed a couple of percocet afterwards. I did not take the entire Rx, but I did need the few I took. I'm just guessing that a small stone that had escaped into the bile duct was unnoticed during the original surgery. My ggrandfather died from a gallbladder stone in his duct, and my BIL also had trouble with a stone in his duct, so that is definitely an emergency situation that can't wait. Whatever was missed would have to be gone after.

What is this world coming to? My sleep clinic closed. I went to the medical supply and asked for a new CPAP mask. The woman gave me a ten minute lecture on how it was federal law I have a prescription. I didn't realize my doc had been sending a new script each year to my old clinic. The federal government regulates breathing at night! Who in their right mind wants to buy a CPAP mask that doesn't need it? This is why I never wanted the federal government running our health care to begin with. I'm called all kinds of names and told I'm foaming at the mouth for that view. NeverHillary here.

I am shocked you guys have so much trouble. DH takes ambien and has for years. He gets a 90 days supply through the mail order company. He can refill it twice and then needs a new prescription. I have no idea if he has to see his neurologist for that or if she just sends it to the company.

This is even crazier....you need a script to get the mask fully assembled but online you can get a kit and put it together yourself and and you don't need a script! That's what husband is doing- buying the parts. Insurance will not pay for it unless we have an rx but we are OK with paying out of pocket.
