To all of you with fully launched kids, you inspire me to keep holding on for my sweetheart. She’ll get there. The hard way but she’ll get there I know.

You know, not every kid takes the high school/university pathway and that's OK. My daughter went away to university (we don't have the same college system here) and came home after 3 months as she was very unwell and wasn't enjoying her course. She got a great job, really good pay and benefits and has a career path in the public service if she wants to move up. Her boyfriend left school in Year 11 to take a building apprenticeship and is now fully qualified and doing really well too. School wasn't for him but he has great business smarts, an in demand trade and is a very hard worker. They have bought a house with a deposit of $50k and they have a great life. Your dd might take a different path to most but she has options

-DS enlisted in the US Coast Guard just after graduation and spent 5 years. Since then he has done many things (these are some I can remember); bicycle mechanic for a non-profit, pottery maker, worked with a guitar craftsman and now he works for a clay company. -DD #1 worked several retail jobs and most recently she works for a wholesale/retail plant nursery. -DD #2 attended a tourism and hospitality program right out of high school and worked in the hotel industry. She hated it and got herself a job in a hospital. A doctor liked her enough to move her to his office within the hospital system and they put her through Medical Assistant schooling. She is now a Nationally Certified Medical Assistant in an Urology office.

DS26 has a masters in computer engineering; got it at 23. Works as a software engineer in Silcon Valley.
DD25 has an economics degree and works for a flight support company (Darn!!-doesn't work for an airline to get the perks!) But she lives near us which is good.

My son may work full time but it is a speciality store that can closed whenever the owner gets tired of it. He has a following right now for his drawings but that can change on a whim. I hope that he is saving money from that. Daughter has just started auditioning for dance companies. I really hope she gets something soon. I am kind of tired of supporting her.

Both boys are Landscape Contractors. Oldest DD works in a cannabis nursery, but is about to go to nursing school once she’s made a nest egg to help her get through school. Younger DD no longer works as an esthetician, as she has three boys at home to care for, but she has taken in daycare kids the whole time she’s been home with little ones.
My kids aren’t always the perfect or easiest human beings, but they’re all hard workers.

My DD graduated in December. She is currently working as a firefighter and EMT. However, she is preparing to apply to medical school, so she is also looking for work in the area of medical research for a year to further add to her application. Because she lives at the fire station, her cost of living is extremely low for the DC area, so almost all her earnings are going into savings right now. So, she is quite a way off from her “career.”

My ds 26, is in his 5th year in the Airforce. He loves his job and sees himself staying in until retirement.
My dd 24, is working as a Physical Therapy Aid full time and finishing her Medical Science degree in July. She was planning on being a nurse, but a Medical Science degree gives her more opportunities to find medical jobs on whatever base her dh is stationed at. She also has her phlebotomists certification, medical billing and coding certification and her CNA certification. Her dh is also in his 5th year in the Airforce and plans on staying in until retirement.

My DS is 29 and is a film editor. In his current job he works in editing commercials and he loves his job. A couple of days ago his boss was out of town so he was working with the owner of the company on a deadline-a commercial they were working overtime on for Connections Academy who were being, as DS said, extremely picky. This boss gave him a huge compliment by saying he'd never worked with someone who was so quick, intuitive and creative and that he saw great things for DS in the future. When DS's boss gets back he said they'd have DS's review that was scheduled and hinted it'd be very positive. This was great news to DS who sadly has a very low opinion of himself. I'm thrilled for him and he was bursting with this news when he came home that day. It was so great to see him feeling positive about himself for a change. He's a great son and young man. Oh yeah, I almost forgot-DS will also be acting in a local commercial for Zips Dry Cleaning that they'll be shooting at his work next week. He doesn't have any lines but will be tripping and falling down. He used to do this kind of stuff for fun (acting goofy). He said he'll get paid more for this than he usually gets paid for work. It'll be fun to see him on TV. It's a commercial his work is shooting and editing. Post a link when it comes out! I'll try to but it's for a local commercial so I'm not sure how many Peas will be able to see it.

I don't have any kids but I will brag on my nephews. Oldest nephew has a degree in education and was a kindergarten teacher for a couple of years before he decided that teaching wasn't really his thing. He works for the District Clerk's office in our county now and is much happier. His wife has a degree in business and is an accountant for the city. They have 2-1/2 year old boy/girl twins so they stay very busy. Nephew #2 has a degree in Finance and is a senior compliance analyst at a large financial company. His partner has a degree in Anthropology and teaches autistic children. He also does some acting in his spare time. Nephew #3 has a degree in Public Relations. He's currently managing a restaurant at a high-end hotel in Dallas and he loves it. They are all in their early to mid 30s.

DS30 works for a large textbook company (Cengage/Gale) in the digital dept. DS26 works for a company repairing large air compressors. DD23 is a registered nurse and works at a large hospital in downtown Detroit. So thrilled to have three that are gainfully employed. 🤪
