Just curious about how the new generation makes a living .
I have 4 kids. Only the oldest is an out of school adult, and he is in the special forces.
What do your grown up, out-in-the-world children do?

My eldest is in retail part time currently after having her little boy but would like to go back to being a 999 Police call handler. My youngest works with children temporarily in care, supervising visitation meetings with the parent/s.

My boys are both in their early 30s. My older son is a teacher at a school for Autistic children. His current class is 7-8 YOs, but he has taught up to 17 YOs.His wife - similar age - is a primary school teacher. Until she went on maternity leave a few weeks back, she was teaching 5/6th class. After finishing uni, my younger son started working for the Department of Health. He has since moved to a non-government group who work in statistics, mainly related to health and welfare. They do a lot of number crunching and forward planning for his former department.

Do you mind if I ask how you felt about your oldest choice to become a police officer? My DD is 16 and has decided that's what she wants to do and while I have outwardly been supportive inside I am scared. I know she has a ways to go before it's a done deal but I am having a hard time truly being excited for her future. My husband is a retired marine so I thought my days of worry about my family members being shot at were over🙁

DD is 31, has a degree in International Economics and works for an international conglomerate in their chemicals division doing commodity trading. She was promoted to the management track last summer and is now doing sales & marketing as well. For a kid who took the scenic route through college, she has done exceptionally well in the business world. Those of you having to push & pull your kids through high school and college, hang in there!

I know she has a ways to go before it's a done deal but I am having a hard time truly being excited for her future. My husband is a retired marine so I thought my days of worry about my family members being shot at were over🙁 I don't mind at all. I get asked a lot about it, and I also get told "I would never let me daughter do that." She is an adult, and she LOVES her job. She is amazing at it and really loves being on the bomb squad too. She is tiny (5' 2" and maybe 110 lbs.), loves wearing lots of makeup and fun clothes, and no one would suspect she is a LEO and a bomb squad tech. How do I feel about it? Hubby and I are her biggest supporters because we know fully that she is where God wants her to be. We have complete peace about it, and are truly proud of her. On occasion fear will set in (when she tells me about certain calls after the fact) but I pray with her before every.single.shift for wisdom in every situation and for safety. I pray it for all of the officers on shift. They need those daily prayers. What she encounters each shift is incredible. But knowing she is doing what she is meant to do puts me at complete peace. Also seeing her so happy doesn't hurt either.

My dd is 22 and in a graduate program for Occupational therapy she has 2 1/2 years to go. She teaches swim lessons to autistic children and works as a helper to a disabled lady. Technically she's not supposed to want to but she's not one to sit around.
