Heading to Vegas with DH in a month or so. Is there a LSS worth checking out?

There is one, mentioned in THIS thread. If you go report back and let us know how it is.

There are 2 stores. The Paper Bunny is the one that gets mentioned a lot. Personally I refuse to shop there or support the owner. I know people who do shop there and they seem to have the same opinion of it being a little pricey. It is close to the airport and strip area. About half scrapbooking, half card making.
The other one is ScrapbookRUs.

Thanks! If I make it to one or both of these I'll report back. Maybe DH can hit the blackjack tables while I head out. :-)

The Paper Bunny is actually a GREAT store. I was impressed with it, and will totally go back when I go back to visit my family. ScrapbooksRUs had a lot of stuff, and the owner was nice, but the other store is much nicer.

If you like stamps, try Viva Las Vegastamps. I just went for the first time and the building sends me old school Vegas vibes. It is unreal...once you get past the side street odd building and walk inside, it is stamps for dayyyyys. I've been a papercrafter for over 8 years, a stamper (collector, whathaveyou) for less but have been meaning to check it out for a few years now. I finally made it after meeting an online crafty friend from about the start of my time scrapbooking in person. She made the rounds to all of my hot spots on her own the day before, so I suggested we meet up there since I had been wanting to check it out.
If you are PC, it's probably not largely the shop for you (there are stamps with penises on them, nuns with boobs hanging out, FUCK spelled out with the word 'you' repeated from a recent release being advertised right on the door as you walk out) but there is a TON of fun stuff. I got a grab bag and will probably go back and get another every other month or so now. Definitely great for mixed media projects and Tim Holtz style fans, but they have a little bit for everyone. Probably best not to ask if they have religious things, though...unless you want sarcastic or off color things.
Otherwise, there is the Paper Bunny (close to the southeast corner of the airport) and ScrapbooksRUs (on Flamingo, further off strip...have only driven past it at this particular location) as mentioned above.

I went to the Paper Bunny. I bought a few things, but the owner seemed very disinterested and unwelcoming. The prices were very high, IMO. VivaLasVegastamps is a great shop. Shelves and shelves filled with stamps of all kinds and themes. They are a mom & pop shop, and they were so nice to me. I wanted to know if they had a particular background stamp available unmounted, and the husband actually MADE one for me! It was still warm when I held it.

They have thousands online.

It's taken me forever to get back here. While in Vegas I went to both ScrapbooksRUs and The Paper Bunny. For what I was specifically looking for I found ScrapbooksRUs to be the best of the 2 (Spent about $90 as opposed to $10 or so at Paper Bunny.) That being said, The Paper Bunny is open and light and has great work spaces. It didn't seem to have as MUCH stuff, but it's laid out well. ScrapbooksRUs is pretty full (cluttered) which probably doesn't bother us scrappers, but it was tight in some areas (there was one other shopper in there and we kept running into each other...LOL) They had some good kits with coordinating stuff and lots of themed stuff (I was looking for some pretty specific things and found them there.) The Paper Bunny had very little of what I was specifically looking for, but even when I looked at some general stuff, it just seemed to be limited. Also, even though there was a line of 4 people, the lady checking people out was making a lot of small talk (talking about her dog and whatever else...but taking a long time actually checking people out.) Looking back I guess I didn't really pay close enough attention to prices to report back, because I was buying some specific stuff and it didn't matter what it cost because I hadn't had any luck finding what I wanted where I live. :-) On another note, we ate at some great restaurants in Vegas - definitely a highlight for us!

I'm glad that your trip was a success overall. I haven't been to SRU at their present location. They used to be just under a name from one of the owners (there is a partnership now) by the name of Kyandy. She had a location prior to this further east and I was only in there once...same with the location before that. That location was really difficult for me to wrap my head around because she had the shop set up in a spare house (because apparently having an extra house on hand is normal, lol). She apparently obtained permission from the neighbors to have it treated as a business and operated that and her eBay store from the house for a number of years. I was only in there once, too, and it was a trip shopping in a house. It wasn't set up as a house, but it was still a house. It was nice and full...so many options. It was great, but it was A HOUSE. At any rate, I've found Kyandy to be a nice woman. She even pulled up her wholesale site for me for something specific I was aiming to get and gave me a price for it right that moment if I wanted her to order it for me, which was a good amount below retail (I believe it was the full TH distress marker set). I'm glad to see that she's still meeting the demands of her customers.

My MIL used to crop there every week during summer break. MARY is the owner of Paper Bunny and she helped the lady set up the store in the house. I had to hear all about it when I tried to work with Mary about classes.

She was only in the house another 6ish months after my trip before she opened the shop (was it on DI?). I still remember what I bought in both places, lol. Maybe not every single item, but I remember the things I loved the most. I bought the only bit of Piggy Tales that I own from the house location (Itty Bitty Spider and I'm still hoarding the scraps because the colors are so lovely together) and I bought one of my favorite lines from MME (before their aesthetic completely took a 180 and they dropped the 4 sub-line thing) from the location that I think was on Desert Inn.

I added ScrapbooksRUs to the Western Region LSS List , and I linked to this thread for the great store reviews. Thank you to all of you who commented. It's exactly what a papercrafter needs when we're planning a trip! I'm off to check out that stamping store now

Okay, here is the 411 on the house/store in east LV. It was on Russell, in the commercial zone of an otherwise residential neighborhood, and called The Crafting Place (TCP). I was a customer/cropper at TCP for many years, and worked there for a year. It was owned by one woman named Jennifer (the property was originally purchased as her DH computer repair store, and she turned it into a craft store when he retired), but Kyandy sometimes led people to believe she owed it. If she didn't have something in stock (Kyandyland), she would call TCP for customers, and if we had it she would send them to "her other location", according to the customers. It was really strange. Mary, that now owns The Paper Bunny, was the self proclaimed manager of TCP. I was quickly corrected by Jennifer, in front of a customer, the one time I referred to Mary as the manager. The upstairs of the house was storage and 70's magic, with shag carpet and pink and blue heart shaped bathtubs. The building was sold and torn down about 2 years ago, when Jennifer retired and moved to HI. Neither Kyandy or Mary get a dime of my money.

Are you talking about a house in the Northwest? Many years ago I looked up LSSs in Vegas and Kyandyland came up. I can't remember but I may have googled it and discovered the ebay store at the time. I just assumed the house was where the owner of the ebay store lived (rather than a store) since they both had the same name (I think). I don't know why neighbors would be ok with her running a business in the neighborhood. Maybe she told them it was her ebay business, and not one where people would actually come to shop at.

I don't remember where it was, but I think it was probably on the east side of town since that's where the physical locations have been. I do remember it being a single story house and I think the 'entrance' was the side garage door, but I'm not 100% sure about that. This was probably right after I started scrapping, so probably sometime in 2011 or early 2012.

So funny...I have lived here for over 20 years and have never really liked it. I like that it is a biggish city but not so big driving across town is impossible to do in an hour or so (whereas in Seattle...where I am from...everything is really disjointed and takes ages to get to). But that is about the only thing I like about it. I wonder if I would feel differently if I didn't live here...probably not because none of the touristy things appeal to me either.

We spend most of our time wither at the pool or in the casino, but even just sitting outside people watching can be rough. This year we went in May and it was gorgeous. Most of our touristy things involve outdoor activities. I like most of them!

It was still in the 70's when school let out...last year I had to park in the shade because parking in the sun would be a problem for my daughter (air circulation is fine in the front seat but not in the back) since May is typically in the 90's already. We just had our first 100 degree day yesterday which is crazy. Our weather has been completely out of whack this year. Our winter was also really mild...it didn't get real cold until February and only lasted a couple of weeks.
