Besides the basics of pictures and paper/digi elements (for our digi creators) what is something that is always on your pages/creations?
Something that is unique to you maybe? Or something that has to be on the creation for it to feel "finished" to you?

For me it is a date. It is usually just the year, sometimes month as I do not scrap chronologically but the page is NOT done if that is not on there somewhere.
I also sign all my journaling with little hearts and "Mommy" "Mom" "C" or "Crystal".

Cool question. I look forward to reading the responses. For me, usually something mixed media. Paint, whether a full background or some streaks. Some hand stitching. Things like that.

Great question! My answer used to be "inked edges," but I don't do that all the time any more. I might say "frames" now - I usually have some sort of frame around the focal point and/or sentiment on my cards. I love getting new frame dies, and I love faux-frame techniques with inks, stencils, etc.

you know? I'm not sure. I have stuff I use often but not on every layout...other than cardstock, I can't think of anything that I always use, not even PP or photos.

Hearts. I very rarely make a layout without one. They make me happy.

For a long time it was sewing on my layouts. My machine broke and I didn’t replace it for years. DH just bought me one earlier this month and I’m so excited to be able to sew in my layouts again.

Die cuts and paper piecing for me! I rarely do anything but. It's gotta have dimension, and I love seeing what I can coax out of my shape-toolkit.

I had to think about this one.
I don't use sketches. I don't scraplift. I design my layout solely based on my photos.
I typically do multi photo, two page layouts. One picture becomes the focal point, and then the viewer's eye is led from the focal point through the entire layout based on photo and embellishment placement.
The layout itself has to help tell the story of the pictures in some way, too. Embellishments aren't just added because they are pretty or because I like them. They have a purpose. If I don't have what I need in my stash, I make my own. Many of my layouts have some hand made aspect.

Lately for me, it’s enamel dots. I love using them! I also try to remember to date every LO. For my Disney LOs, I always put some sort if hidden Mickey somewhere on the page.

That is a tough one because I chop and change quite a bit but I generally mat my photos and I like to use white the most for that. I have been inking all my edges lately and I am quite fond of a small amount of splatter, enamel dots and either small hearts or stars are somewhere on the layout.

I try to always include the date. I would also say I almost always include enamel dots.
Another thing for me is some type of patterned paper and stickers. If I have a cardstock only layout I have to slip in some pattern somewhere and some stickers.

I've been inking my edges too, consistently for a little over a year now. And I use Nuvo Drops on most of my pages. Oh, and die cut titles.
I love the look of stitching on layouts but I never want to take the time to add it on. I tell myself I'll go back to them but I never do. Maybe one day I'll be inspired enough to actually add a few stitches.

The one layout I forgot to put a hidden Mickey is the one time my daughter remembered to look without me prompting. Oops. My immediate answer is the date. It goes on the bottom right corner of almost every single layout. I also sign the back of the layout with the date completed. Artistically, all my layouts have to have multiple patterned paper. I love to mix patterns! A layout isn’t complete without some Nuvo Drops either. I’m becoming quite obsessed.

Well, usually I would go with scrapnana that I have some sort of handmade element on my layouts. But lately I’ve been finding ephemera that I actually like & use. I’m not sure what has changed, me or available ephemera. Previously I felt all oremade things looked forced. But lately I find the newer ones quite natural to use. Plus I think the newer ones look more modern.

I guess nothing.
I do go through phases where I use certain embellishments more than others but never on every page.
I do try to include a date, but sometimes I forget. So be it. I do sign the back of traditional layouts with my name and the date I made them, but not digital ones.

I'm an inked edges girl. Have been doing it for years and doubt I'll change that! Always the date and almost always some journalling. I didn't include the date/journalling when I first started scrapping, but I went back and put the date on every layout, and even tried to tuck in a bit of journalling.

I'm with scrapnnana and LisaDV , it depends on my mood and what my theme is for the layouts. I also go through phases, right now I would have to say all my layouts include cardstock and patterned paper . Oh and also photos, title, journaling w/ date. I also include some time of embellishment but what I choose often varies!

I loved all the variety of answers. I think we all go in fits and stages. I went through a long kraft background stage, every.single.layout had to be based on kraft. Now, I can't remember the last time I used kraft anything. Then there was the white background phase, now it is about 50/50 on pattern paper/cardstock backings lol.

Most of my pages of late have had multiple layers of white printer paper underneath the photo. I realise I am so late to this trend that it's already over but I really like the look and can't stop doing it.
I've been stamping the date on most of my pages after someone here linked a video on how to pull apart the roller date stamps and re-order the pieces so I can use the day/month/year format which is standard in Australia.
I'm still using gold mist. There's frequently pieces from the AC sticker books in my layers. And I've been trying to make a concerted effort to start using enamel dots after having largely ignored them for far too long.

I don't use sketches. I don't scraplift. I design my layout solely based on my photos. I seriously envy this ability!
I usually do a caption like you see in newspapers below photos. I write directly on the page the who, what, where, and when. I use my handwriting most of the time. My regular layouts (not divided page protectors) rarely have titles but do have matted photos and inked edges. Some type of diecut; made from a machine or taken from an embellishment pack.

I include the month and year. Always title and put a small amount of journaling. I use at least 2 different pattern papers, mostly likely a stripe or plaid. Only ever mat 1-2 photos. I love putting hidden Mickey's on my Disney layouts too!
