Not for the free phone app games. But I do have a monthly subscription for an online computer game. It’s my downtime.

Nothing - I don't play games on line.

I added a subscription to the NYT crossword puzzle for $20. I love the Letter Box game that is part of the subscription. Otherwise, I haven't played any online games that cost money. Rarely I'll play Majong for free.

Up until recently I would have said none. I just purchased a subscription to puzzle page though. I enjoy the variety of puzzles and prefer not dealing with limits and ads. I figure it’s cheaper than buying monthly puzzle magazines which I only ever do half of anyways. It’s funny that buying something virtual seems more wasteful than buying something tangible that ends up cluttering up our homes.

I wonder how many people actually purchase these so-called “Best Buy” packages for $100? A lot, I think. "App Store and Google Play users spent an estimated $213 million in the game during Q2, representing year-over-year growth of about 18 percent over the $180 million it generated in the year-ago quarter." That's *just* for Candy Crush Saga, not any of the company's other games. But Fortnite is even more insane. "Fortnite managed a staggering $2.4 billion in revenue in 2018" The game is free; all revenue is through in-app purchases.

I wouldn't have a problem buying a game on a CD for my computer like we did in the old days. But paying for online only content feels like such a rip off.

I was so POed, at one point, that I spent 99¢ on Candy Crush to defeat a level ... then I was so POed that I was a pawn to the developers that I deleted the game and haven't played it since. 😂😂 I feel you! Though I do spend probably $10/mo on two games, either to beat levels or to buy exclusive design items. I don't spend much on entertainment so that amount doesn't bother me.

$0 - I just don't find online games appealing for some reason.

Zero on phone games or in-app purchases. I buy an actual PC game about once every year or two.

I'll drop $3 or $5 every couple of months or so. I think one time I did go up to $10 for some "fabulous" deal. I am in my prime years of kid chauffeuring and waiting at various meets and all that kind of stuff, so this is one source of entertainment during those interminable hours. It probably also helps that DH is a game developer, so this isn't something that's weird in his world.

I will be the outlier: I average about $5 per month on the one game I’m addicted to. It’s my stress reliever from work, so I don’t consider that a big investment to calm my mind.

I don't ever for myself. I do buy 'coins' for my daughters game.. it's called Star Stable.. (it's a little different than something like Candy Crush).. she has a life like horse and takes care of it and earns coins (or whatever they call it).. she gets like 100 coins a week free to buy clothes or gear for the horse.. ... I will buy her coins in lieu of allowance or something like that. Sometimes for her birthday or Christmas. I will always wait till there is a sale, which is like 1/2 price. I think $15 will get her 2,000 coins or something like that. I might do that 3 times a year?? Not often.

I enjoy Candy Crush and play almost daily. For the first couple of years I never paid anything. Last year I would buy on average a package a month, about $15. This year I've spent maybe $15.00 total because they seem to be giving out more of the extras and free time. I enjoy games and somehow managed to marry, as well as give birth to, non-game players. This is how I get my game fix in. To me it is entertainment money. I don't go to concerts and see maybe one movie a year. We all spend our entertainment dollars on different things. I was going to say none and be all judgy in my head, but we just got back from Vegas and I guess it isn't really THAT different. Exactly, except I view money spent on gambling in Vegas as money wasted. I always come out and think of what I could have bought with that money. DH is able to view it is entertainment money and nothing more. I think that is probably the key to enjoying Vegas and the gambling.

I play HayDay (since Zynga ruined Farmville) and I've caved a couple of times (less than $6 - and then I'm like a little hoarder with the diamonds and never seem to spend them). I'm the same way with Starbucks rewards LOL
I paid for Wordscapes because the ads were insane. Nothing else though. Cheap entertainment.

$0. I don't play online, computer, video console, or arcade games, only family-friendly board or card games on occasion.

I have never in my life spent money on online games. But I can understand why people do, to get past a level that they've been stuck on for ages. I've been tempted plenty of times, but instead I just give up and never play the game again! I was loving Candy Crush Friends Saga (having given up on all the other King games after getting stuck on a level). Then I got stuck on level 254 or something, and just gave up.

I don’t play any games that offer ad on/hints/power up/additional purchases.
I have paid for a handful of games to avoid the ads. I wait until I’ve played them awhile and found that they were keepers.

I buy games from Big Fish once every couple of months to play on my lap top, spending $4-$8 for each game. They don't have any in-game purchases and I don't pay for any hints/coins/tokens for my phone games.

I've played farmville for a long long time (10 years apparently) Once a year I buy a gift card for 10-20 dollars to do something extravagant on one of my farms because I do believe in supporting the developers some and I have an ad blocker so there is no ad revenue.

I'll be the second or third person to admit to spending money ... I am in love with Covet Fashion (a game I play on my phone) ... I've been playing since last Fall and played for free up until recently ... now I buy "diamonds" every week for about $20 ... it's entertainment money for me - I don't drink or smoke so I have no guilt

None.
My dd subscribed to an online news for kids app which is $5 / month but she hasn’t looked lately and this post reminded me to cancel it.
I don’t play games.
