I am always surprised to see the packaged of rewards or points or whatever is needed to advance in a game when they are up around $100. I know I’m careful with my money due to current circumstances, but even if I were still working, I can imagine dropping $100 on Candy Crush or Word Crossy. I have, out of frustration, spent up to $3.99 on Candy Crush once in a while. I prefer to just keep playing until I make a level on my own, but after a couple of dozen tries and then coming within 1 or 2 items from passing that level, I’ve caved.
What do you spend or do you know anyone who has no problem buying the large packages either for themselves or their kids? I’m not judging here, I’m curious. I can see it being an entertainment expense for many people, I’m just not one of them. I admit, I’m cheap.

Zero. Although I do play all the candy crush games, I only play at night before bed so 5 lives is all I really need. I have been tempted several times when I am stuck on a level for a few days but I have never given in.
DS once spent $13.00 for clothes for his guys on fort night but even he doesn't usually spend money in the games he plays.
DH plays online poker so he puts $50.00 in his account every three months or so.

I have never spent money on games. I also haven't played any in a few years.

None. I play a few, but only use what level ups I can get for free. It’s not worth the money to me.

My son spends money - $40/year? - on computer games, but I cannot think that I would. There are enough games out there that are free that I can play if I am waiting at a doctor's office, which is literally the only time I would ever possibly play. I have 2 free games on my phone. Why would you pay to pass a level? Isn't it more interesting to try to beat it yourself?

Zero. I have about six free games on my phone that I can play if I’m stressed (or waiting). Those are more than I need. When I reach the point I cannot advance I delete and try a new free game.
ETA: I too wondered about anyone willing to spend $100 on any of these free games.

The constant ads were driving me nuts (as they intended it to be). WAY back in the day when I played FarmVille Id buy (whatever it was they were selling...it’s been so long I’ve forgotten) from time to time, but only for a few $$$.

I was so POed, at one point, that I spent 99¢ on Candy Crush to defeat a level ... then I was so POed that I was a pawn to the developers that I deleted the game and haven't played it since.

I spend 5 a month on ad free song pop. I played for a long time with the ads before I started paying for it and it was a little annoying. I tried to go back to it and after so long being ad free, it was VERY annoying. I never buy extra coins or anything like that.

Zero, but only because I don’t play anything but solitaire now. I may have paid a couple bucks for Words With Friends for the no ads version though. I have such a compulsive personality that I stay away from those big multi player games even though they intrigue me. I would end up spending a fortune.

I have a jigsaw puzzle game that I've played for years and that I love, so I did buy the ad-free version. I forget how much it cost but it wasn't much. You can spend real money to buy more puzzle packs but you can also buy them with in-game coins that you get for every puzzle you finish. Plus you get coins from watching ads if you choose to. So I don't see any need to spend anything else.
I have spent .99 cents here and there to buy something extra, but rarely. I like some of the coloring apps and one of them charges something like $7.00 per WEEK if you want all the pictures to color. If you don't pay that then you get a certain number of free ones per day. That is the most outrageous cost that I've come across... wow. There are so many other coloring apps -- I think I have five on my iPad -- that I just rotate among them, with no need to pay for more... I can only do four or five each day anyway. lol

Zero. Years ago when I got my first iPad, I bought some games after doing the free trials. Loved, loved the games. Fast forward to my new iPad. Because the developer abandoned the games they will not work on the newest OS. They are gone from the App Store. Poof. Gone. With my money. Grrr.
Fortunately, I still have some of them on my old iPad with an older OS. Every now and then I charge that sucker up and play those games because I miss them so much.
Since I’ve had my newer iPad, I don’t think I’ve even spent one dime to go ad free and I refuse to pay for coins, power ups etc. I don’t play games on my phone at all. I do occasionally but I song from iTunes, but that’s pretty rare.

I used to say $0, but sometimes I buy the new furniture / decor packages on design home. I would say maybe $40 - $50 a year? But I enjoy it, so I consider it cheap entertainment.

I don't pay anything for phone app games. If it can't be done for free then I don't do it. And if a game makes it too difficult to play without buying boosters or whatnot, then I uninstall the game.
I have other online PC games I play that I do pay for (subscriptions, expansions, etc.).

I will pay for good games upfront because it costs money to develop quality apps and I want developers to be able to make a living. I don't play any games like Candy Crush with "boosts" you can purchase.

I do occasionally but I song from iTunes, but that’s pretty rare. Apps are not going to be supported indefinitely. It's just not possible for many developers. It takes significant time and resources to update for new versions of the operating system and there are sometimes changes in iOS that would require certain apps to essentially be rewritten from scratch. The pace of technology advancement is relentless and sometimes business decisions have to be made to discontinue supporting an app because it doesn't make financial sense to keep going. Digital goods are simply not like a book, that will always work once you buy it. There are too many variables and dependencies between the apps, the hardware and the operating system for that to be possible. Developers who deprecate apps aren't doing anything nefarious or stealing from you.

i’m surprised that so many also refuse to pay for the whatever’s needed to get to another level. I was irritated with myself after spending the 3.99 because I felt I walked into their trap. On Candy Crush now, they throw up a banner when you lose a hard level telling you how many people have purchased power up components to assist in beating a level. I’ve found that after trying a level for a certain number of times and closing out after the 5 lives, you will suddenly pass it the first try if you leave the game off for a couple of weeks.
I typically play these while waiting for my meds to be ready or in a doctor’s office. I’m quite happy with solitaire that is free. I wonder how many people actually purchase these so-called “Best Buy” packages for $100?

None. The only games I've ever played have been free, and they began when I was stuck in hotels. I used to put up with the ads or give up and play something different. I haven't played anything for several years now, because I get far more enjoyment from spending my relaxing time in creating tangible, beautiful things that other people will enjoy.
