I've never spent anything on online or app games. I work for a divorce attorney and our client's soon to be ex-wife spent around $400 per month (yes, PER MONTH!!) on online games. I can't imagine, but to each their own!

I play 3 games with any regularity.
Words with friends with my brother. I paid the 10.00 to play ad free.
I play Gummy Drop quite a bit. I am sure that I paid .99 to 3.99 a few times in my first few months playing. I have been playing for over two years so I considered that cheap entertainment and fine for a free game.
I also play a casino game and have not spent one penny on it.
I often see the 100.00 packages (especially in the casino one) and think you really don’t get very much for that amount. But I waste money on a lot of things, so I can certainly see spending that amount of money on something that I consider entertainment. I just have too many other things higher on my just for fun list.
I also do go to a (real) casino a couple of times a year. I usually will bring $200 - $300 and if I lose it all I am good. The entertainment value is getting away, some pretty good food (for cheap to nothing), time with friends, great people watching, and the fun of just playing the slots.

I'll be the second or third person to admit to spending money ... I am in love with Covet Fashion (a game I play on my phone) ... I've been playing since last Fall and played for free up until recently ... now I buy "diamonds" every week for about $20 ... it's entertainment money for me - I don't drink or smoke so I have no guilt It was you! You are the Pea who is responsible for my addiction! I’m not sure whether I should thank you or curse you!! Covet is so much fun and while I don’t spend money on the app I spend many hours trying to come up with the perfect outfits. Are you in a good fashion house? That has saved me a bundle and helped me level up.

I have one game I like to play that I often get stuck on. I buy more coins to gain extra moves and boosters almost weekly, usually the $6 pack. Considering that I do not frequent coffeeshops or buy lunch regularly, $6 is cheap.
One DS was spending $20 on steam almost every week. With no job, that meant he was spending any money he got his hands on, gift or chore money. He has gotten better about it but still buys the credits as often as he can.

To be honest, I spend about 20.00 a month on Pokémon Go. But its part of our entertainment budget.
One of the guys in our group, spends about $100.00 every 14-16 days and that doesn't include his trips to Germany, Japan and Chicago each year... That's 100.00 to the app....

I bought Skip-Bo years ago to be ad free. I might have purchased backgammon since it’s also ad free. I play a casino game that I will occasionally buy a holiday sale pack of coins. I play it daily and get my free coins every few hours. That is the one that I see the huge coin packs they sell. I only do the $2.99 or so every once in a while.
For me it’s entertainment like going to a movie, which I also don’t do often.

I'll be the odd one out. I love playing my games and it's part of my entertainment budget so I probably spend about $40 a month on my games. It's my entertainment budget and something I budget for. I play lots of games (recovering from cancer so I don't get out that much). I don't worry about it - judge away

Generally none as I don't really play online games that often but when I did, I would occasionally pay a few dollars for more lives on Trivia Crack. At the time, I was playing someone that I would also talk to so it was a fun way to keep playing while talking. I didn't do that often either though. Maybe a couple times.

I play a couple app games, but have never spent money on them. I can ignore the ads, and I am patient enough to wait for what I want to "buy" in the game until I have enough free game money for it. I did once spend $10 on game credits for a trivia site, but have cashed out that amount several times over in amazon credit.

I spend a little on pokemon go. I love playing it with my kids and the local community and it's more fun sometimes when you have perks that you pay for (or could get without paying but it would take a long time to accumulate enough points for them). I don't drink, smoke, wear jewelry or makeup, buy expensive clothes, shoes, purses, etc so this is what I spend my petty cash on.
Other than that I've done one-time payments of $1.99, 2.99 etc to get a game without ads but only if the ads are really that bad.

None and there are 3 games that I've played for years (Fishdom, Free Fall(had for 6yrs) and Homescapes) and have never paid to get past a level. No judging from me, I just refuse to spend money that way. There are plenty of people that refuse to spend time that way so *shrug*. To each their own.

Zero now. There was a time on candy crush where I started to pay to get through levels -- and that's when I knew it was time for me to stop.
I'd rather spend my "play" money on clothes and art supplies.

I've paid 'up front' for apps, but I can't think of any pure game ones that I have. I keep a couple of free games on my phone for mindless time-killers when traveling or for waiting rooms.
I have paid for games and in-app purchases for my kids when they were younger.
My husband plays some app game that our boys and many of the guys at his work play. Some buy stuff for the games and some refuse to. It's hilarious to hear their heated conversations justifying each of their positions. One guy from their work routinely spends a hefty chunk of change on the game. He's advanced to some lofty level that 'famous' world-wide and will no longer play with the other guys he knows in real life. It's quite the obsession for him -- to the detriment of his bank account and his family life.

I play Township (like Farmville but it's a separate app) and occasionally buy £2-3 worth of game money. It's cheaper than a magazine!

I do occasionally. In 2019, I’ve spent $40 on Pokémon Go. Once each for myself and my son. Only reason we put money into the Boy’s PoGo is we went out to raid with a group and he only had one raid pass.
I save my earned coins to buy the boxes; but, sometimes fall short when the good boxes come out. He spends his on clothes for his avatar. *roll eyes*
It was worth the $. It was his first time raiding with a group. He had enough fun that he is willing to go again next Wed. This is big, as it’s a bit difficult to get him out of the house due to his severe social anxiety.
