Just looking at the Canadian Thanksgiving thread I can see that there are a number of us that look forward to the wine I'll admit that not a single weekend goes by that I don't partake ... I run a meetup group that has various activities such as Book Club that always involve wine ... My best friend and I are serious lovers of the stuff Anyone else a friend of the grape? ETA: I'm a white wine drinker ... usually Pino Grigio ... but I have to say that I'll drink whatever you have as well (except port)

Yes! I prefer dry white wines. Nothing sweet. My favorite lately is Starborough Sauvignon Blanc.

We consume a fair bit in our home as well. We just spent a few days around Niagara on the Lake - we had a great time visiting wineries and sampling their wares. Highly recommend a trip to the area if you enjoy wine and relaxing!

Why, yes! Yes, I am a "friend of the grape" as you put it! And it's my birthday and DH is taking me out to eat so I will be partaking very soon...

I do, but the last time I had some, pregnancy was a result. LOL I've had a big bottle of Pink Catawba staring at me in our dining room cupboard for 8 months and I'm hogging it all to myself throughout Thanksgiving and the following weekend. It's good to have a plan.

My dad is a huge wine fan. He drinks wine with dinner every night. He also belongs to the Opimian Society and gets wine delivered. There is always wine at home. Always!

Raising my hand!
We live about 90 minutes from Central CA Coast wine country and love to drive over and spend a day wine tasting. We belong to 7 different wine clubs so we get two shipments a year from each of them. There are so many great places close by it's hard not to buy a ton of wine - we probably have 300 bottles at our house at any given time (yet I drink the cheap stuff most nights - lol)
My favorite is a Zin or Cab Franc. I'm not much of a white drinker but will from time to time.

When my DD was at UCSB we would head out to the wineries every time we visited. We would often stop at the farmer's market first and take cheeses, olives, crackers, etc., and have ourselves a wonderful time sitting on the patios of the wineries sharing a bottle or two. Ah, memories....

I consider wine to be the proper compliment for many dinners, but I also like a glass just to sip in the evenings. My preference is for red wines, primarily Merlots and Malbecs. My latest obsession is with wines from Chile. Whenever I get to a new wine shop, I pick up whatever they have in Chilean reds that I haven't tried.

I live in Niagara Wine Country. My former job was a financial advisor to wineries, when they were starting up, in the early 1990's. I have bottles from the first bottles and love to do vertical tastings. A vertical tasting is tasting the same variety of wine from different years. These are interesting tastings.
There are so many wineries, I can always go to one of them if I am having a bad day or want to do something different, instead of shopping.
Favourite - Off-dry Riesling by Cave Springs, Son-of-a-Bitch Pinot Noir by Megalomaniac.

I have a glass of wine most nights. Red, white, rose, depends on the mood, the meal, and what is already open. My favorite wines are Cabernet Sauvignon, or Cab blends. On a hot summer night there is nothing like a chilled vinho verde. With sushi, dh and I like off-dry rieslings.

You will all appreciate this picture. It's grapes drying to become raisins. I call it..."what a waste of a perfect grape".

Well you know how I feel about wine . It makes everything more tolerable. I prefer white, but will drink a good red. Actually I don't think I've ever turned down a glass of wine.

ICK! I'll drink a glass of sparkling moscato occasionally and use wine to cook with but it is not my drink of choice.
