I have noticed when parking in lots where the roads have spaces to the left and the right (straight in not angled) that I prefer spaces on my left. I feel they are easier and that I park better. I certainly will park in spaces on the right but find that I naturally gravitate toward parking in spaces on the left. I am wondering if this is because I am left handed or just have strange/poor parking skills and if other people have preferences?

I am right handed and prefer to park on the left side. I like having a wider turn into the spot.

I am left handed but I always look first for parking places on the right.

Hmm...I don't think I have a preference. Not that I've noticed. I'm just going for the one that's close and the cars in the nearby spots aren't too close to the line etc.

Right handed and for some reason I always go for the right side.

I voted "doesn't matter". My car is a large SUV and I look for the largest space. Sometimes people park all cattywompus and ruin empty spaces.

I park where ever, left or right side. If there is a nice spot without encroachment by either car on either side of the open space, I take it.

I chose never thought about it.. I look at the available spaces and pick the better of the two... If it looks like a tight space I will pick the bigger space. If it is two crappy cars on both sides, I will pick the other spot if the cars around me are better.

I am left handed but I always look first for parking places on the right. Same! It feels so much easier to turn right. Parking on the left side feels awkward/crowded.

Doesn't matter but I generally reverse in anyway!

It doesn’t matter as long as the space is big enough for my car to fit inside.

I have a different favorite side when I reverse in. I prefer to back in to spots on my right. Sorry I should have made reversing in a poll option. I never think poll options all the way through...hahaha.

Doesn’t matter. I look for spaces where I can pull through. I hate backing out of parking spaces.

I never really thought about it until now. I probably go left more often now that I am thinking about it. Right handed.
I prefer angled (one way) spots of course and to be able to pull through if straight to avoid backing up.
That is just preferences though, as I pretty much go with the flow of what is presented.

I'm right-handed and I prefer to park on the left. My dd is right-handed and prefers the right side spots. I asked my dh and he says to him they're all the same. Ds didn't answer my text where I asked him. lol
Having a wide turn range has nothing to do with it for me because when I park on the right I always swing out wide before I go in. I'm not sure actually why I prefer it, but I definitely do go for the left spots if I can.

My preference is a pull through spot, so I can pull out front end first instead of backing out. I will park further away in order to do this.
I have noticed more and more (at least in my area) oncoming drivers do not want to stop and let the backing up car complete it's back up. The oncoming driver will honk an alert, then want to proceed to squeeze behind and around the backing up car, even if the backing up car is more than halfway out of the spot. Other drivers do not want to wait one minute for a backup to be complete.
My parking spot location preference, is to be closest to exit for whichever street I plan to leave on.

I tend to look to my left when looking for a parking space, so I probably end up parking on the left more than the right.

I voted "doesn't matter". My car is a large SUV and I look for the largest space. Sometimes people park all cattywompus and ruin empty spaces. Same here My preference is an end spot so I’m only next to one car. But I don’t park out in the boonies. I usually park semi close but never noticed a side preference.

I’ve never thought about it in relation to how easy it is to park, but rather controlling the space between the driver’s side and the next car. There have been several times where someone parks way too close to the driver’s door and I can’t get in. So if a vehicle is already to the left I will park there so I can at least attempt to avoid that. Yes, they might move and the next person park too close, but I’ve given it my best shot. I also look for really nice trucks where the owners obviously spit shine them daily (as long as they don’t take up too much space or park poorly) to park next to because I know in taking care of their baby they’re not going to accidentally ding my car with their door. They’re also easier to spot in the lot when I’m trying to find my silver SUV amongst all the others Eta that I do this too, although it’s not as important anymore with the backup camera. But it is a lot easier pulling out, especially at big events where everyone gets out at once and no one exhibits common courtesy. I also like them because I am terrible at parking and it gives me room to adjust without having to back up! Eta2: And this, Texas sun is brutal. Apparently I have a lot of parking rules/preferences in my head. No surprise, I’m pretty anal

We're in Florida... we park in any shade we can find. Luckily most of the parking lots around here have trees.

What I look for first of all is a pull through space. If that isn't available, I choose whatever space is the easiest to get into and out of.

I usually park where the sun isn't shining right in the windshield. It gets hot here and it helps a little.

I'm going to start by caveating this because a) we drive on the left and the steering wheel is on the right, and b) I reverse park.
That said, I prefer to reverse into a space from the left rather than from the right. And there are very rarely any spaces on either side of the car - car parks are busy here. If I have a choice, I pick an end space.

The side doesn't matter but I always try to pull through so that I don't have to back out.
I also always (almost) try to park very far away (not an unsafe distance) but far back so that I usually don't have any cars on either side of me; also helps me get my steps in.

Left handed person who wants a left handed spot. I am closer to that side as I drive and it is easier to visually see my open space.

I always look for shade first, then I will pick a pull thru spot, and I don't have a preference for side. Otherwise I try to always back in and I prefer to the right here in the U.S., and noticed a very strong preference for the left when driving in England. I'm right handed dominate ambidextrous.
