Lord I cannot get over those floors! They're amazing! I would honestly leave the damage unless you can bleach it out a little. The natural color is amazing!

Any dark color door will get hotter than a light color.

Anyone know what kind of plant this is? It's some kind of hardy geranium - difficult to say for sure, but possibly Carolina cranesbill.

I would consider painting the shutters black (since you don’t like red) and painting your front door a bright pop of color.
A lot of times, dark stains on hardwood are from pet urine. Not sure if it’s possible to reverse.

The floors look amazing! Somehow I missed how you ended up here...I saw your post about quickly moving from your former rental, did you buy this place or already have it and now you’re fixing it after renters moved out? Looks like a fun project!

I would do black shutters and a bright turquoise or yellow door.

Looks like a fun project! We already had it (a family home since it was built ) and are cleaning up the mess from renters and adding a few things to make it more 'us'

I would do black shutters and a bright turquoise or yellow door. I think this is going to be the plan. I'm in love with Reflecting Pool by Sherwin Sherwin Williams.

How has your DH’s health been since the move? Were not quite sure. Were still sleeping at the old place and have been back and forth and he has been helping me for a few hours each night so he is exhausted and sore but he's super optimistic. I had him snuffing random things last night and he was able to identify lavender and he described turmeric oil pretty well but didn't get the name right. Its progress. Were hopeful.

I have this paint chip sample on my counter top as I'm considering this color for my kitchen island (the rest of the cabinets will be pure white). I really, really like it but it is scary to put such a specific color in the room. I think it would look great as a front door on a white house.

I want a wall in our bedroom to be that color but I'm trying to be a little less extra and more neutral this house 😂

Not sure if it’s possible to reverse. Correct. It really depends on how far the pet urine has gotten into the actual wood. If it’s just surface it can be sanded out with a floor sander, I’ve done that - but if it’s deeper into the wood grain there isn’t much you can do, unfortunately. It literally burns the wood.

My goal is to get the bed and bigger furniture moved over on Saturday and set up next week. I am reading to wait 4to 5 days to lay rugs on the floors. Were hanging a fabulous light that I found at the re-store and replacing all the plugs and switches tonight and getting all of the construction crap out of the kitchen and scrubbing it down tonight.

We have one corner that was definitely pet mess. I'm not sure about in front of the door. You could definitely smell the nasty in that corner. I cleaned it multiple times with enzyme cleaner and I'm sealing it extra but it never got lighter. These got a little less large but on the lighter wood they're shown more. I'm hoping what we did keeps the smell away until the next sucka replaces the floors.

You’ve done amazing with the floors. Some well placed rugs or furniture in those spots and you’ll be fine. Front door could be water damage. You get a scratch in the sealant and it lets the water in and it can discolor and warp the wood. Unfortunately with wooden plank floors like that, you really have to clean up pet urine and wet messes immediately and thoroughly, cause it does that if you leave it too long or don’t notice it. .

I think in front of the door had a tug and the water from shoes never got cleaned up. I'm so thankful it didn't smell like pets until we started sanding. I dont have any issues with my dogs going inside but I dont want them to get the idea to mark. Ugh. We've got a fenced in yard and both if the neighbors have big digs too. (One has a super sweet pit bull that looks like mine) and the other has 2 Huskies, a German shepherd , a collie, and an American bulldog. Any tips for introducing them? My dogs haven't been here yet but we've been in the yard a lot and we are working on getting them to not bark and to sit but I'm anxious about introducing my dogs.

You remind me of my sister as she is a bit of a "just get it done" type like you are and you are a whirlwind of progress on this!!! I wish I could make things happen this quickly at my house but everything is a long discussion with DH and we are virtually never on the same page about anything anymore.
We are doing a kitchen remodel and DH wants everything so traditional and bland. Not much fun, but the amount of time and effort going into repainting the cabinets (includes a ton of work with wood grain filler) is so extreme that I don't want to get it wrong the first time because I can't imagine going through it a second time. My DH has a spray gun machine that he uses for the primer and painting and just cleaning that after one day takes him about 90 minutes to 2 hours!! We have been filling wood grain for 2.5 weeks now and are only about 25% finished. I expect that the cabinet painting will take around 12 weeks or more. So, you can see how exciting it is for me to see your rapid progress and how great everything is turning out. I love your kitchen chandelier too!!!

The house across the street from me is white stucco. They added black shutters and painted the door teal. It’s striking.

Or paint a few canvases that color and hang them!

I've decided to do the closet in my office in the teal. Its going to look beautiful in the lingerie closet! Bush is gone, found a lawn guy, met 3 neighbors and the mailman (who WALKS door to door!) And made a friend to walk the bike trail with in the evenings with the dogs. Not a ton of progress today, I had 2 parties and a 4 hour training.
