They are beautiful!
How bad did the sander do on your electrical bill? We had one of those and the meter was FLYING! It was crazy!

I'm loving watching the progress! I'm in dire need of refinishing my floors in the house. On a scale of 1-hellNO, how bad is it really to do? I'm pretty handy, but scared to death of doing the floors... Ok. We've finished. My final score is 8/10. There really wasn't a lot to it, it's just a few steps repeated a lot of times. Its loud and messy and time consuming but not hard. I only cussed once and that was because I put my phone on the windowsill and mopped my way out and couldn't work for 2 hours because the hotspot couldn't be turned on. My fault. My floors were damaged so if I were wanting them to be perfect I would hire it out. There are a couple of spots where you can see that its sanded a little uneven but I am happy with it for the cost. Make sure to rent a sander and an edger, pay attention to the grain of the wood, and dont skip buffing the sealer. I did, in a closet to see what would happen and it's a big difference.

I set it up to switch to my name on Monday 😂 As in, 2 days from now? Smart girl! past tenants will have to pay the sander bill! Ouch! 🤣 Yep. I figured if she hadn't bothered to take her name off of it I would just get the power company pick the most convenient date. The first day of the billing cycle happened to be hugely in my favor! Ha

No news this weekend.
I wanted to get such done but I ended up working all day yesterday and dh and I are both having some sort of crazy allergic reaction. I'm covered in bumps and my eyes were swollen this morning.
I'm cleaning the bathroom in a benadryl induced fog so I'm sure I'll be doing it again when I'm sober.
Whomp whomp.
We are bringing the couches over tonight so that's some sort of forward movement.
This week is going to be fast and furious.

Didn't you have some bumps a while back? Yes. They never figured out exactly what it was but it was about this same time of year last year.

In other news, the neighbors are putting up a privacy fence it looks like so the worries with the dogs may be ok!

Oh, and.....DH started a new job today. In his field but way on the opposite end of it. Super proud of him. He was rewarded with beer and a honey-do list. Why not shake everything up all at once right?

Looks great! This whole thread came at a good time for me. We are in the process of buying a home and during the inspection yesterday, I noticed the floors are looking tired. Refinishing is definitely on the look into list, although to be honest, not sure I have it in me to diy. You are so impressive! Regarding the wire posts in front, the previous owners replace or wrapped them with wood columns. Make such a difference in terms of curb appeal (I was able to see before and after from previous listings). Same era -- 1961. That must have been the thing back then.

Wow, I'm amazed at how much you got done. I just looked to see when you started and the OP was only 2 weeks ago. Beautiful work! If you could share some of your energy and motivation in getting your projects done, I think many of us here would appreciate that!

You've done an amazing job rehabilitating that little house. The floors look great. I'm in awe of you doing the refinishing yourself. My wood floors have been refinished twice in almost 30 years so I know firsthand what a job that is. You should pat yourself on the back! I hope you enjoy your time there and that your DH's health improves as a result of the move. Thanks for sharing your remodeling adventure with us.

I'm in love with Reflecting Pool by Sherwin Williams. I looked up the color and it's beautiful! Thanks for sharing your progress with the house. You and your dh have done a beautiful job.

I couldn't decide if the red was too much. It's a lot of red and black and a little more aggressive than I'd like, I think itll soften some with throws, puppies, and curtains.
The dogs are freaking out with us being gone more and taking things out. We realized today that the last time zeus was in a house being packed they were also rehoming him. Hopefully he doesnt remember that but he definitely remembers them. It's time to get this show on the road, move the beds and get them settled.

We have curtains! (Most of them anyway, dh overshot the curtain rod so were going to add more curtains and add some faux space 😄 I am so over patching holes. We got internet today and I got most of my bathroom put away. My stock is moved but the office is still at the other house. Hoping to wrap it up this weekend. Loving that everything is sorted and has a place but I'm definitely ready to be done.

Looking great! I’m so intrigued by the position of your dishwasher on the backside of the cabinet. What’s the story there?

There are some changes when we travel so we are hopeful that it's something at the house. The one way to know for sure is to move. Were bringing very little with us and having the things that were bringing cleaned to make sure we aren't bringing toxins with us and we are hopeful that a change will be good for us all around. DH moved in with me after we were married so we realized today that this is the first home that we've really made together. It's kind of fun!

Looking great! I’m so intrigued by the position of Your dishwasher on the backside of the cabinet. What’s the story there? I asked my cousin and he said "there is nothing that I hate more than handwashing dishes and there wasn't any where that it would fit. I realized that corner was wasted space and I could make it work and then once I started thinking a out it, it had to happen." He said that after he stopped handwashing the dishes the thing he hated the most was walking around the counter to put the dishes away so he cut a hole in the wall and made the odd cabinet to hold his dishes. I love my family.
