My phone rarely leaves DND. I doesn’t need to at this point.
If it’s an emergency call the house phone.

In my general circle of people, everyone knows who the early to bed people are and who the night owls are. As well as who the "sleep in" and "up early" people are. I base my texts and calls accordingly.
If I am unsure of someone's sleeping hours, I follow the don't call/text after 8:00pm or don't call/text before 9:00am rule.
I am a night owl, so I regularly receive texts and calls until 12:00am-1:00am, from other nightowls. In general, everyone knows not to contact me before 10:00am.
My phone is on vibrate when I am home. When I go to sleep, my phone is placed on a towel on the table next to my bed, to muffle the vibration alert of anything incoming. I do get up in the wee hours to use the bathroom, at that time I glance at my phone's locked screen to see if there's anything of importance incoming(meaning a call from my Mom). If it's any others incoming, it can wait until I wake up for the day. When my Mom has been in the hospital or very sick, then I leave my phone on the table unmuffled, in case she needs to contact me. The vibration noise usually wakes me up.

We have our cell phone and they are turned off at bedtime. We have a landline for emergency and we never give out that number.

I don't use DND. As mentioned, you never know when an emergency call will come from an unknown number.
Thankfully people that know me well know that I go to sleep fairly early (9-10 pm during the week) and am a light sleeper, so they don't call or text after that for the most part. Just in case though, I put most texts on silent during the night, especially groups!

Ugh! How rude! My mom has somehow butt dialed me twice in the middle of the night. She lives with my 92 yo grandmother and my mom’s health isn’t the greatest. So both times my heart has dropped. OMG I can't tell you how often my mom butt dials someone (how does that even happen with smart phones?). Seriously at least once a month she does this to me, dh or dd. Once it WAS in the middle of the night and I seriously thought she was calling because my dad had a heart attack or something (he has heart issues). It took forever to calm down and get back to sleep. She was up during the night because she was at a church ladies retreat and they were up having fun. It wasn't fun for me!
