Everyone is so talented! I love these threads.
My July story is that I saw on Instagram some custom Mickey Mouse ears that were so expensive. I was NOT going to pay what they were asking! Instead I've spent ThREE times as much making them myself! They are still not done but when I do I will have to share them with you ladies. I have the ears on but hopefully I will get the bow on this week. I know it doesn't sound like a lot to ya'll but for me, it's been the worst.
Teri you look awesome and lainey, I love the colors!

Craft-wise I haven't been very accomplished lately. I hit a wall of sorts. I started a gorgeous counted cross-stitch and was having a tough time of it. I kept working on it, and getting frustrated. So, I decided to start a different (equally gorgeous) counted cross-stitch and also had a tough time of it. I hate partially done projects, so I kept revisiting them, refusing to move onto a project more enjoyable.
FINALLY I had a breakthrough. My hobbies are supposed to be relaxing and exjoyable. Not stress inducing and frustrating. I gave myself permission to box those two projects up. Put them away so that they are completely out of sight and won't taunt me about the fact that they are just started. And, I moved on...yay me! This is very unusual for me to not finish something once I've started it.
I made this crow project. It's from The Craft Pod. At least one other Pea posted her completed project and I fell in love with it and ordered the kit for myself.
I'm just getting started on this. It's from the coloring book in the image. I have loved Geninne's work for years, and actually own an original piece of hers, a small jar. I also realized that a bird puzzle that I've had for years is her work. She seems to be accomplished in just about every craft out there from pottery to leather to silversmithing to painting and so on.
I'm going to do this in all off-white embroidery, and am toying with the idea of adding small white beads to it. I'm an avid beader, but I've never added them to embroidery....yet. I've cut the fabric large enough that it can be a throw pillow when completed, if I choose to go that way.
I have a question. Does anyone here ever trade crafts? I adore some of the gorgeous blankets y'all are posting. I'd love to trade crafts for one if anyone is at all interested.

I think your cream project will look stunning with beads. I have a few beaded embroidery projects milling round in my head but I’ve never done anything with beads yet.

I am so inspired by all of the lovely projects here and all of the creativity and talent! I finally decided to quit lurking and actually post a project of mine. This is a little doily, only about 5 inches, that I made a few days ago

I know how it is to start a project, stop and put away for another time. Great job! snoopy- Wow! What a beautiful doily. So delicate and pretty colors. I am glad you are inspired to crochet again. I am new to crocheting and so far I has been good fun for me.

My sister has been recovering from surgery (doing well) and while recovering decided to watch the entire Call the Midwife series from the beginning. She was inspired to buy a new teapot while watching and asked if I would knit her a cozy - she picked the design.

I've made a start on this Kindness shawl I'm using a skein of hand-dyed yarn I've had for a while called Runaway Mermaid.

I remember when you bought that lainey. I've been waiting (impatiently) to see what beautiful thing you were going to make with it. This weekend is Wine & Wool festival and I'm so excited. I told DH last night I wasn't buying anything. His response? Yeah, right. Insert rolling eyes.

That same conversation has been had at my house many times, usually involving a fabric store! I hope you enjoy the Wine & Wool Festival. Sounds like a great combination! lainey - that yarn is so pretty. I really like that shade of blue.

I'm a newbie here. My craft of choice is scrapbooking which I haven't done in a couple of years due to migraines and depression. But, a Pea posted a link to a free craft site of classes that were good for 3 or so days so I thought I'd check out knitting. I learned how to knit when I was around 10 and I think it must have been my mother who taught me because I knew how to knit the Continental method and not the English method. It's been years and years since I've knitted and due to my memory problems I'd forgotten how to do it.
I checked out the beginning knitting methods on the free site (free for 3 days) but it only showed the English method which to me looked awkward and difficult. So I decided to go and look on Youtube. Yeah! There were tons of how to knit videos on Youtube which I should have expected including how to knit in the Continental method (with my mom being German this would have made sense that this is the way she was taught and still knits). In anticipation of the free classes I went to Michaels and bought a pair of bamboo knitting needles in size 8 and a skein of yarn in a beautiful, variegated blue. It was a cheap acrylic yarn because what I'm knitting now is just for learning purposes.
I relearned how to knit in an hour and am now knitting consistently and I LOVE it! It's so soothing and calming. I wanted to make sure I got the knit stitch down smoothly and comfortably and tonight I think I'm going to learn the purl stitch. Then it's off to my first projects. I'd love to knit my parents each a scarf for Christmas and I want to use really great quality yarns (maybe merino wool) to do this. Where do all you knitting peas by your yarn and wool? Online? Any great sites I should know about?
The talent on this thread boggles my mind. You are all so talented!

I mostly buy my yarn at big box stores (Michael's, Hobby Lobby, JoAnne's) and I also have a local yarn store (LYS) that I buy from when I need that "something special" kind of yarn that isn't sold at the big retailers.

Don’t be put off by the fact it’s in the U.K., many people over the pond also buy from here not only for the choice and price but the speed of delivery. Folk have said delivery is quicker than buying online “locally”. As for over here, I have seen me order at lunchtime and the parcel is in my hand by lunchtime the next day. Welcome back to yarn craft, it’s good for you! Anything creative is good for the soul but not the wallet.

Yay birukitty! Welcome to yarn crafts. I buy yarns at Wool Warehouse and Jimmy Beans Wool. I also go to several shows a year where I pick up fancier things. And for my afghans I sometimes use Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn.

I posted this on another thread but want to share him here too because I enjoy him and his projects even though I do not crochet..... do you crochet peeps follow @jonahhands on instagram? He's a kid from La Crosse, Wisconsin and has mad skills. I think he's 11 (?) now and taught himself to crochet at 5 (?). I'll post a random post of his so you can easily find and follow. Here's a doily that I think he just started doing after mostly larger projects. ETA a video I've seen of him crocheting (so quickly and without thought) brings back memories of my Grandma doing the same thing. I have a vivid memory of the first time I saw ( or remember) her in action. Chatting away while this masterpiece just cascaded down from her hands/needle. Ridiculously, like a knitting machine, it flowed down. LOL http://instagr.am/p/B0JlIkFBHWz

I imagine, like my Gram, his crocheting has become second nature and can talk and rarely have to stop and think about it. I'm betting I saw the video on Instagram (but I could be mistaken) so you could look through for videos.

Like gillyp I mostly use Wool Warehouse for my yarn (and fabric) purchases. They have a fantastic choice of yarns.
Cascade Heritage is a good yarn for scarves, I made my Match and Move shawl with it. It's very light and drapey but so warm.
Etsy is a good source for hand-dyed yarns, though I've noticed a couple of my favourite dyers have recently left (did something happen with Etsy that I'm not aware of)
