The peas are very good enablers. My coworkers appreciated the hot tip about the smart plug. I may have mentioned that in a meeting, lol.

For the person looking for a kayak - not sure if you want a hard sided or inflatable one, but just saw an inflatable one come up for sale. No idea if it’s a good deal though!

I got this Anker one. Same one I got at Christmas and have had good luck with it (just wanted an extra for the kids tablets when we are traveling). I did a fair amount of research at the time and picked it then based on the various reviews and recommendations. Would have loved another fun color since it seems less easy to lose, but for the price I was happy with the black this time. These are $25 now www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00Z9QVE4Q/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1I got it for that price this morning. I think it is an all day deal, but their website seems to be a little quirky about showing the prime day deals on a few things I have clicked on... so buyer beware before you get excited and finish your checkout!

I got some cosequin for the dog (not sure if it was a prime day special but there was a $3.30 off coupon), a hard drive for dd's computer, a set of rubber spatulas, a tablet stand, and an insulated thermos. Somebody stop me!

My Alexa just told me the smart plug deal was no longer available. 😥 So sad I didn't see this thread earlier.

I've been needing to cut my cable for a long time now but there were some channels I just couldn't do without, including local channels. So yesterday I decided what I needed to get to make it ok to drop my cable service.
Today I ordered 2 fire sticks (came with a $45 credit for Sling, which is the streaming service I had decided on), an HD antenna, a Fire TV Recast to record the local channels, Echo Show (this also came with a free Dot and Alexa LED light bulb), a 10 outlet surge protector on lightning deal and the smart plug that the Peas mentioned. Today saved me a boat-load of money compared to what I would have paid another day to make the switch.

I got my mom a new Kindle. I traded in two older versions and ended up with the Kindle Fire 10 for $32!
I also got a portable scanner that was a lightning deal for $103 ($75 off), a Revlon Hair Dryer (mentioned on the Beauty thread) and a printer for $19!
I still might pick up some of those smart plugs for my Christmas tree.

Thanks ladies, I didn’t think about the lazy factor...let’s just call that efficient, shall we? Katie Love the idea for a Christmas tree! Okay, I have one lamp that could be helpful for, and one for the Christmas tree, sold! Enabling accomplished, I knew I could count on y’all I’d love it for my bedside lamp too, but with all the news on listening to conversations I don’t feel comfortable with an Alexa in our bedroom. You could control your bedside lamp using your phone/iPad/tablet. You don’t need Alexa. They also have a manual button so that you can turn it on and off manually if you are really motivated! That would work perfectly, thanks! It is a regular dresser, not an actual nightstand so it is just a bit taller than our bed, and it’s a really tall lamp on the side farthest from the bed. So we are talking a good 5 feet from where I lay down. I can’t even turn it off sitting on the edge of the bed. Love the idea of a button placed discretely.

Hopefully a deal like this is included in Amazon’s Thanksgiving sales. For Christmas I think I will grab a dozen of them for stockings and to add to gifts for those that use Alexa type devices for the explicit purpose of saving my friends and family from arm pricks every time they turn the Christmas Tree lights on and off. Do y’all have the plugs with surge protection? The Amazon one doesn’t. I just saw a cool use for it. They suggested a morning routine that turns on lights and starts your coffee. I don’t drink coffee but I think I’d add turn on my diffuser and maybe some music.

I ended up getting some wireless ear buds, they are regularly $50 and were a lightening deal for $27. A wall mounted key safe thing...I haven't seen these before and thought it was a great idea. Some make-up (pressed powder) that was $5 instead of $12. And then bizarrely a bunch of stuff that weren't prime deals!

Well, I just ordered the Ring doorbell with an echo dot for 69.99. I don’t understand why you wouldn’t order it with the dot, it is the same price. Am I missing something?
Wow, that's a fantastic deal. Was that for the Ring, Ring 2 or Ring Pro?

Oh and about smart plugs...I currently have 3. They are great to turn things on and off that are out of reach & where turning them on and off manually would be a PITA. I have a Scentsy wax melt warmer and the button to turn it on and off is at the back. Now I can keep it in my entertainment unit and not have to always move it to reach behind for the button. I can turn it on and off from my phone, or via Echo voice control. Also the switches I bought all have timer/schedule functions, so I have set it to turn on automatically on weekend mornings. I used to forget to turn it on & I have all these wax melts I wasn't using...now I am using it much more often. I have one on the cat's heated blanket it has an automatic off so I can turn it back on easily without scrabbling under the coffee table. I have one on the electric blanket on my bed also, I can turn it on from the lounge and I set it to turn off automatically after one hour...no more waking up hot and sweaty because I went to sleep with the blanket on. I already have Philips Hue lights so I don't need to put any switches on my lights or lamps. With the switches...you need to download and set it up in their native app first, then give it an easy practical name. That's why I like to use all the same brand of switches, because they will all be in one app. Then if you use Echo or Google speakers, open that and link them and they will have the same name you gave them in the first app. In the Show 5 they've made "routines" even easier to use. I've set one up so that I can go to bed with my main bedroom light on. once I get settled and comfortable, I say "Alexa...goodnight" and she has various replies (last night she said "I hope you count less then 10 sheep before falling asleep" then the bedroom light goes out, and the bathroom light and Scentsy burner turn off (in case I didn't already turn them off) In AU Prime had some good Philips Hue deals so no doubt USA does too. First you need to buy a hub (just one) and then all the various lights, lamps etc (up to 50) can be run through that one hub. The bulbs are expensive at first, but so far I've had some of mine for 3 years and not needed to replace any. I have a motion sensor on my bathroom light...it turns on when I walk in if it's dark, and turns off 2 minutes after I leave. I also set it to turn on in very dim nightlight mode if I get up overnight.

I bought the intex inflatable one last week for 2 people. I’ve taken it out nearly everyday since it came. I just go to a small lake nearby. I love it. I didn’t think I’d be able to lift a hard sided one on top of my suv. I’ve seen multiple people with inflatables this week.

I don’t drink coffee but I think I’d add turn on my diffuser and maybe some music. I bought a couple of the regular ones a few months ago on a whim when they were on the Treasure Truck. DH had gotten a Google Home Mini for free from one of his vendors and I figured it would be great for those times when we get home later than we thought so we can turn a lamp on from our phones. I have the smart plug plugged into a surge protector power strip because most of the rooms in our house have the outlets wired so the top outlet sockets throughout the room turn things on/off at a wall switch which is usually across the room, ugh. Since only half of our outlets are always on, we use a lot of power strips in our house. It’s kind of annoying. Ha ha, I should plug one into the scented wax melter thing in the bathroom. Then I could turn it on without having to actually go in there holding my breath!

Watch out for fraud ladies...I just got notification that .99 was charged from Amazon.
I have purchased nothing. Bank says they can't do anything until it actually posts to the account. Rep says it could be an error and it might fall off. I hope so.

I wish they had smart switches as cheap as the smart plugs. I can’t think of anywhere to use the plugs (even the Christmas tree is conveniently located between 2 outlets that are easy to get to). But man the switches would be nice for the light over the bed we always forget till we’re in bed, the lights in the hall as we stumble up the stairs blind, etc.
