It almost looks like a 2-degree burn that has blistered.

That’s how I look after lots of different kinds of bug bites. Mosquitos etc. Big itch, some pain, big hard lumps under the skin.
Topical Benadryl does the trick for me.
To me this isn’t ER territory unless you have other symptoms of illness or reaction. Topical reactions rarely progress to anaphylaxis so that is not a major concern. I’d see my regular doc during the day if it didn’t improve or was particularly problematic.

Looks like ant bites to me honestly it could be anything. Is it hot to the touch? itchy? Is it continuing to swell?

Seriously people...the "e" in ER stands for emergency, and there is no emergency in a area of localised inflammation.
This is why you wait so long when you get there because people with non urgent conditions are clogging up the waiting room.
If you have something that needs to be checked by a doctor, then see your doctor, ER is not a replacement for your own doctor...it's overkill and wastes everyone's time.
I don't know what this, it could be a reaction to a bite or it could be the start of an infection...you can try taking an anti-histamine and/or applying some OTC steroid cream or some ice to see if it helps. If it's a bite it should make it feel better & stop the itch and it will clear up in 3-5 days.
If it's the start of an infection it will get more red, hot and painful and then it's a trip to see your doctor potentially for antibiotics (still not ER).
*IF* it suddenly gets worse, swells massively (twice normal size), you get a fever or chills, or a red line tracking up your leg, then you go to ER.
Don't scratch it...if it is just a reaction to a bite, then scratching it will break the skin and then bacteria can get in and you'll turn it into a bigger problem if it gets infected.

It is swelled but I’m a hairdresser and have been on my feet all day. There’s raised bumps with a knot under the skin. It does itch badly! But I’ve been using Gold Bond pain and itch relief cream on it all day. Trying not to scratch but it’s hard. Not blistery or oozing like poison ivy. Was outside at a bonfire Saturday night but it didn’t start itching until Monday morning. Wasn’t really outside any on Sunday. My house has been sprayed for bugs but I still see the occasional spider. Didn’t know if it was a possibly spider bite?

Then people like me, non-medical hospital staff, have to help deal with IRATE people who are *REALLY MAD* that they've been sitting and waiting for so long. -- But, they've been waiting because of the two ambulances that arrived one after another, and the man with chest pains brought in by his wife (who should have called an ambulance), and the soccer player who hit the goal post hard with her head and who now feels dizzy and nauseous... etc. -- The ones who just walked in from the street, treating the ER like their personal doctor, are just going to have to wait. If it is a bite (versus, say, poison ivy), it looks like it's actually multiple bites to me. I don't really have a good guess as to what, though I would guess it's more likely to be multiple mosquitoes than multiple spiders. I'd probably treat it with hydrocortizone-- a steroid-- for the itching. If it spreads much more, or continues to spread even with treatment, I might hit up urgent care or see if my doctor has a same day appointment. I sometimes feel silly when I visit them for various issues, but I can't properly treat something if I don't know what it is. |

From what I can see this has 'lidocaine' in it which is a local anesthetic, which will numb the area temporarily but will do nothing to treat the bite. You will be better off with a cream (and/or tablets) that will actually reduce the effects of the potential bite such as an antihistamine or a steroid cream or even ice. They will all help to reduce the swelling and itch, whereas the cream you are using is just a numbing cream and won't have any effect on reducing the inflammation. |

LMAO If I went to the ER every time I had bites this summer, I would have gone every freaking day.
I'm no medical person, but, nothing looks infected or festering. Why in the world would anyone go to the ER for that?

I've gotten a few mosquito bites this past week. If that's what it is, Benadryl helps as well as putting antiperspirant on the bites. Sounds strange but the aluminum in antiperspirant immediately stops the itching. DH didn't believe me until he got bit and tried it.

Just to be clear: Several of us suggested Urgent care not an ER. Just want to be sure everyone knows the difference. Urgent care is docs in a clinic like setting not attached to or associated with a hospital. They have longer hours than doc offices. Some are open 24/7 |

It turned out I had cellulitis With complications.I probably would have ended up in the ER with a life-threatening infection had I not gone.

It looks like a cluster of mosquito bites to me. Mine swell up like that in the first 2 days. They are also pink. After 2 days the itching and swelling and pink goes away and they’re just annoying until they heal.
I think if the area turns red or gets red streaks that move up your leg, or if the area feels hot then you should worry and see a doc.

There are two parts to our er.... the trauma and the urgent care side they are both open 24 hours.
The photo to me looked like her foot was swelling with the main swelling around the ankle.
