I am all about purging and stuff but there are certain things I am keeping because for me they are timeless and grandkids one day.
Hot Wheels (only that brand, I got rid of the cheapies) Blocks (set that we bought from Sam's or Costco.. HUGE set) Littlest Pet Shop Characters (youngest still plays with them but I have a ton of money in them) Legos (money again..lol and my MIL saved the Legos they had and it was great to have at her house when the kids were there) Schlich (spelling??) horses which youngest DD wouldn't part with in a million years.. they are all small.
I think those are the only toys I am saving. Neither girl were into dolls that much, so no AG Dolls. Thankfully all easy to store, nothing that is big that takes up space.. I think everything could fit under one twin bed once the toy thing is done.

My preemie cabbage patch doll from when my brother was born premature. Favorite books. I would be saving my awesome Barbie Dream House if my dad didn’t throw it away without telling me.

We've kept some favorite books - but only true favorites - and we'll probably keep some favorite LEGO. That's it. I just can't see saving a ton of toys. There are always new things.

Only the expensive toys. Lego, wooden Thomas, and AG. My mom kept a lot of my toys and my DD never played with them.

There are always new things.Yeah, but in some cases it’s just not the same or as good. It’s true when they say they don’t make things like they used to. A couple of examples in the Barbie World are the old school A-frame Dream House and the pool. The equivalents these days are super cheap and generic.

Only a few things honestly. My kids are beyond toys for the most part (16 and almost 15). My ds wasn't into many toys as a kid(he's a spectrum kid). He had Woody & Jesse dolls from Toy Story and we'd written his name on the bottom of their boots like in the movie. So we have both of those. And other than those 2 things, the only other thing he was into was Legos. And he still loves them but he's out of room for storage. He builds the sets and doesn't take them apart. He has an entire closet filled with shelves that are packed. Also shelves around his room with bigger sets. There are thousands of dollars in Legos in his room. From the age of 5 until probably 2 years ago, for every birthday & Christmas that's all he wanted. If he ever decides to take them apart, we'll definitely store/keep all of them. He also has 2 Trofast storage bins filled with extra parts.
The point thing from the girls is dd#1 has a little stuffed bear she got when she was born (named Bear-Bear). She still has it and if/ when she no longer wants it, I'll keep it. Other dd didn't ever have an attachment to anything like that.

My daughter’s My Twinn doll. It looked so much like her when we got it for her it was neat.
I also have the Cabbage Patch doll that my grandmother had wanted. This is when they were hard to get. I was teaching and let the kids know I wanted to get one. One of the parents contacted me and I was able to pick one up from her.

My MiL kept dh’s Sesame Street playhouse which my kids loved. I wonder if i loved it more then them because it brought back such great memories.
She also kept the plastic fisher price doctor’s kit. I don’t know why. I’m sure she didn’t know Dh would be a doctor after he outgrew the kit. It was packed well but the plastic had yellowed and smelled so my kids never touched it.
I’ve kept nothing.
My girls still use the baby dolls they got at 1 year old. I would keep those if they ever gave them up. My girls are 13 and 10.

DD’s Mickey Mouse Clubhouse toys (she had a couple different ones), the Sesame Street play set with all the little characters, her loveys from when she was a baby, and the Teddy I bought for her when I first learned I was pregnant. She has in her room my lambswool stuffed dog, a stuffed Kermit the Frog, some Santa Bears and other toys that were mine when I was little. I won’t get rid of those either. I also have my mom’s Shirley Temple doll and her twin’s Dionne Quintuplet doll from when they were little girls in the 1930’s. On a related note, I had a Mickey Mouse Colorforms set when I was a kid that I loved (and that didn’t get saved, probably because pieces got lost). I found a vintage set exactly like it on eBay a few years ago and bought it for myself for my 50th birthday. ETA: I’ll keep the LEGO sets forever too, because $$$, because I like them, and because I secretly bought them all for myself!

Our dgk’s always enjoy playing with the toys I saved from their parents’ childhoods. They often get here with a plan of what they want to play with next.
Last weekend I pulled out a photo album to show the 6 year old pics from 35+ years ago of his uncles playing with the Fisher Price toy he was playing with that day.
Also have a ton of Tonka, LEGO, and Barbie stuff (including a hand crafted wood doll house). They have also all loved the stuffies and books and puzzles our kids enjoyed before them.

I saved DS legos, 2 tonka trucks and a few books and a train set along with some baby toys that my 2yr old DGS finds fascinating.
I still have my original Barbie, Ken and Midge dolls along with a Shirley Temple doll. I bought a cabbage patch when they first came out, it's sitting in its original box in the closet.

We have saved all my son's legos and his Thomas the Trains (steel and brio type wooden ones) with all the track. For some reason I've saved all the beanie babies I collected - some come out at holidays, most are in a box.
We have a huge ottoman filled with video games - I guess we'll need to deal with that before we move because I'm not hauling them around!
I still have my teddy that my aunt gave me when we immigrated here along with the stuffed donkey my parents bought me when we sailed on the Queen Mary - they're in my scrapbook room on a shelf together. I'll never ever get rid of them. I still have the Queen Mary pin as well that was given to me when we sailed.

My cousin gifted me her Barbie townhome.. my daughter played with that thing forever.. and not with Barbies.. I also got 1/3 of the Dream house.. the middle part (she lost the other 2 sections..lol).. but that got played with a ton too!! AND the pool... that ended up in our backyard.. and it made for great porch playing..

Do they even make them anymore? My son loved those... We’re a Rescue Heroes family, too! Those were saved. I actually have them at church and let my Pre-K and K kiddos play with them. Who knew that the Rescue Heroes could be such an effective behavior incentive? Nobody gets left behind!
