The separately voting peas would freak out at my sister who gathers all of each days laundry and washes it together. Kitchen towel, rags, underwear, jeans, shirts. So she's always caught up on laundry. She will do sheets separately when it's time to change bedding. Or a bunch of towels. I don't like it because different materials wear down others and take longer to dry than others.

Do you get poop on your bathroom towels? Or some other gross bodily oooze! My bath towels are used on my clean body. My kitchen towels and rags get more gross stuff on them than my bath towels. Or do you not like washing bath towels with kitchen stuff on them. Just curious. I wash in super hot water.

I only have white bath towels and white waffleweave kitchen towels for this exact purpose--washing together!

Bath towels, kitchen towels, and dish cloths are all washed separately. The dish cloths are too soapy to wash with anything else. Hate the feeling of drying my hands on a kitchen towel that has that soap residue left on it.
Bath towels are simply an entity unto themselves. *shrug*

I can’t imagine fussing around separating rags, towels, clothing, darks, lights, etc. The only things done separately are my DH’s cycling clothing because it stinks. As for tea towels, when one is dirty, I open the basement door and fling it down the stairs. It gets picked up and added to the laundry basket when I go down there to do a load.

There’s definitely a lot of hair on my hair turbans and plopping shirts.

Do y’all have small washing machines? I use several towels/kitchen washcloths a day and use the bar sized washcloths. I have nowhere near a full load after a week!
My answer is that I’d wash them together, but usually do wash the towels in one load. But I just toss it all in with some detergent and call it good. No one has been poisoned yet. And I’d say that a lot of my family and friends would classify me as a neat freak.

So don’t really get all these posts about a “full load”. I just select the smallest size and get on with it.

We wash everything together, too. Have done so for years and it’s all good. We work too many hours to deal with a bunch of separate loads. This way we’re pretty much always caught up.

Together. For those who do them separately, what’s the big deal? Which towels are you afraid will contaminate the other towels? They all come out clean, so I don’t understand! I do them separately only because I wash the kitchen ones more often. I agree, they all come out clean.

My daughters use a lot of bath towels and invariably leave them on their floor and grab a new one, etc. So I usually have a big enough load of bath towels to necessitate a separate load of kitchen towels. I don’t have any hard and fast rules about it, though.

Together. I live alone and mostly have just one load of washing a week. Everything goes in together and I and my clothes have lived to tell the tale

Together because it’s hot water and a dash of bleach for all of them, that’s why they’re all white.

Separately. It's the hair for me. I have long blonde hairs all over my house but weird I never have them on towels. Maybe because I brush my hair right before I get in the shower. I shed so much that I don't want hair in my drain.

Never together. I always keep the following items separate--bath towels, kitchen towels, sheets. I use enough kitchen towels that every other week I have a load. Same with towels and sheets. Plus, I never wash clothes with any of these three items as well. I guess I'm just really weird about my laundry. Then I am weird, too.

I wash towels and jeans together. I typically wash clothes together based on weight. It was suggested in the washing machine manual. Suck it peas!

I can also select a load size and it has a sensor, but there is still a minimum amount of water that has to be used. I guess I just don't see the sense of wasting water to wash 7 or 8 dish towels when they can easily be washed with another load. In my case, I just don't get some of the post of why it is gross to wash them with another load. But to each their own...I am glad that everyone is able to wash and dry their clothes as they want and how it makes them happy.

Ok, wait, what!? How on earth does that even happen? WHY would you ask her to explain?? I was wondering the same thing. I wish I was lucky enough to have always had light enough periods to never get any on towels. I've always thought of myself as pretty typical. Are we freaks? 😂

milocat - I'm not quite as freeflowing as your sister. That said I may horrify people for admitting this, but I do my sheets with the towels. All on hot.

Separately. Kitchen towels seem to be more spoiled than bath towels. And since we go through at least 2 a day, I have 14 or more to wash.

Together. For those who do them separately, what’s the big deal? Which towels are you afraid will contaminate the other towels? They all come out clean, so I don’t understand! For me it’s only because my kitchen cloths and towels are all microfiber and my bath towels, wash cloths and hand towels are cotton. If I wash them together, the cotton towels are linty and that lint will “clog” up the microfiber towels. The instructions on the microfiber towels say to wash them separately, apart from other items that produce more lint. I have a bunch of microfiber kitchen cloths and towels so when they’re dirty I just let them air dry and toss them into an empty wash basin in my laundry room that I use as a holding bin. When there are enough of them to make a load I wash them all together but only with other microfiber cloths. For full disclosure, I also have a few microfiber wash cloths that I wash with the kitchen cloths, but I only use those to wash my face.
