About every other year... doesn't bother me.
I have probably been called in six or seven times.. I am 51 years old.

I got called in 2012, and recently got a jury questionnaire in the mail. In NY a person cannot serve more than once in a two year period, I've been lucky. DH has never been called up since we have lived here in NY. Both kids have...

I get called every 18 months. The only time I didn't was when I served on a jury for 6 weeks. It was about three years before I was asked to serve again.

I’m called more than my friends. DH has only been called once in the 20 years we’ve been married. I’ve been on this last year, so I’ve had to call in 3 times. In all my times I’ve only had to go for jury selection once. Of course that time was when I had a 6 month old nursing baby, luckily I wasn’t chosen.

I'm 42, and seem to get called every year. And I know they'll never keep me, b/c my husband is a police officer and my father worked for the Dept. of Corrections....but I still have to go in, every time. I wouldn't mind it so much if I didn't know I'd be dismissed right away!

I’ve been called 3 times in my adult life but I moved a bit. Since I have been in my current residence, I’ve been called twice about 6 years apart. I always get sent to the same court house and there have never been any jury trials and we get released early. I make my $17.23 and go home.

Almost never! I live in a city of just over a million and I've only been called once ... so interesting! I'm a Humanities teacher so this is right in my wheelhouse I'm impatiently waiting to be called again

Wow, here DH and I get summoned every 18 months like clockwork. The courthouse is a bit of a drive, small town, parking is difficult and you have to pay for your own parking.

I am permanently excused, but I used to get called annually.

I’m 62 and I’ve only had to go two times, and in both cases was back out the door before lunchtime. Once I did get as far as the courtroom, but they seated the first people they questioned and there were no other trials so the rest of us were dismissed.
In the almost 20 years my husband and I were married he got called once and served on a jury.

Pretty sure my husband (42) has never been called. I am 38 and have been called around 3-4 times but am always excused due to being the sole caretaker to 3 kids under age 16. I sent in my youngest DD's birth certificate last time (2015) and have never been called since.

I get called about every 10 years. Last time was a couple years ago and I did everything I could to get out of it and still was selected, and then I was even chosen as foreman (is that what it’s called?). It ended up lasting about a week.

I have never been. I am 51. I have wondered in my case if I am on a do not pick this person list somehow. I work for emergency services and often have insider information that I would have knowledge of. Because of my job I have been a witness, that is enough going to court for me.

In Indiana, I got called twice. The first time I was exempt as an out of state college student. The second time I was exempt as stationed out of state in the military. Next move was to another state. I’ve lived in Texas, Kansas, and now Arizona and have never been called. I’m knocking on wood but I suspect I’d get kicked out pretty quickly since my dh is an attorney who used to work as a police officer.

I was called once and I'm still mad. I was trying to study for a certification exam and the judge wouldn't excuse me. I sat there the entire week, listening to voir dire, trying to study, until I was called late on Friday afternoon. I knew they wouldn't take me because of the nature of the case and my employment background and I was right. I wasn't chosen. What a waste of time.

I’ve been called in every state and municipality I’ve lived in, some more than once. At least 10 times. I’ve had to go listen to the videos about doing your civic duty so many times, and I’ve sat through jury selection and waiting and waiting but have never had to serve. DH has never been called and would like to be.

Once in 30 eligible years. I was there all day, but they seated the jury just before my group got called in.

Here it’s every 2 years. It’s done randomly through the electoral role. I’ve never been summoned for jury duty - as a lawyer I can’t serve in a jury.

I’m the same way! I get called pretty much every 18 months or whenever the time limit is. I have never gotten picked but have spent all day until the last possible second to choose a juror and then I get dismissed. I don’t mind doing it but it would be nice to be not called every time. One time I was called in December 24 which was perfect since no one wanted to start a case before the holidays so I didnt even have to go in.

I have only been called once for a grand jury. It was *right* after we moved to a new area, no family around, bought a house in a brand new subdivision and had no neighbors, both worked remotely so had no coworkers and didn't attend church. I tried to get excused simply because I didn't have options for my kids. I was told to take them to a daycare center-which I felt was an unreasonable request and didn't understand why I couldn't be excused this time and put back into the pool to call back when we were a little more established. My DH ended up taking vacation time and I wasn't chosen so it turned out ok-ish.
DH has only been chosen once. It happened to be a grand jury for an attempted murder trial in our small town so it was a big deal. AND it was within days of our 4th child being born. He was not excused so I dealt with four kids, one being a newborn less than a week old, and family coming in from out of state. It was fun-not!
Truly-both of us would LOVE to be on a jury. And I am even understanding of you can't be picky and choose when you serve...but I also feel we had a couple decent extenuating circumstances that warranted being excused that time. Of course neither of us has been called again in the 14+ years since then.

It's strange how often you've been called.
I've been summoned for federal jury duty and was temporarily released for prepaid vacation. Well, then my mom had medical issues for the time I was called, so they schedule me for next summer during another prepaid vacation. School days cause the most disruption to our lives, but summer would cost us $ and I live for my vacation.

I have aged out, and claimed that exemption. However I have only been called about 4 times in my life. In Dallas, for many years women were not called. It was the mindset of the DA during those years. I think a lawsuit stopped him, or else was no longer in office. The few times I was called, neither side wanted a teacher/librarian. Defense thought we would be too strict and prosecutor thought we would be too lenient.
The closest I ever came to serving--during voir dire the DA fell dead during the questioning. We were all dismissed. (The man had just returned to work after a heart bypass and just collapsed and died.)
